Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 255: Chapter 168: Object in the Lava_2

When he arrived, food had already been prepared at his seat, ready to be picked up and eaten.

He was indeed a little hungry.

Eating the grilled skewers in hand, Alka couldn’t help but shake his head and sigh.

Who would have thought that the best food they could make was this kind of grilled skewer? Simple and straightforward, not much skill required, just enough ingredients and seasoning. And it was Pororo’s handiwork.

Among the members of Burning, except for Julia and Lucilia, everyone had a bit of cooking skill, but that skill could really only be described as ”a bit.” The best among them was surprisingly Jason, who had been forced to learn by cooking for himself between the ages of 12 and 14. So you couldn’t expect his cooking to be great, but it was at least edible. As for Chadite’s cooking... well, at least it wouldn’t kill you.

As for himself, although he knew how to cook, you couldn’t expect a modern person who had traversed to this medieval-like place to still be able to perform culinary feats. Not to mention that many of the vegetables and meats were processed differently here, and a variety of seasonings had changed. Alka’s cooking quality depended on how many ingredients he could get that were relevant or related to his past life. Good results could be called delicious; bad ones could be called poison. Because certain seasonings could enhance the flavor when added sparingly, but just a bit too much would inexplicably make the food incredibly unpalatable. What kind of ingredients were these, needing such precise measuring? And there were all sorts of combinations of ingredients that would taste terrible together; it all made him frantic.

As for Pororo, his deep-sea sashimi was exceptional; he could always precisely find the fish that were very suitable for making sashimi. His barbecue skills also weren’t bad. But that was about it; they couldn’t always have barbecue and sashimi on the ship.

Eating the grilled skewers in hand, Alka’s desperation for a chef grew even more acute.

”Look, a shooting star!”

At this moment, a star streaked across the night sky.

Sharp-eyed Lucilia immediately exclaimed, ”Quick, quick, make a wish!”

Upon hearing this, the others were also in a relaxed mood and casually made some small wishes.

Looking at the stars in the sky, Alka casually thought, ”I hope to find a chef suitable for our team, one with excellent culinary skills!”

He hadn’t expected this world to also have the unwritten rule that wishes made upon seeing a shooting star were more likely to come true. It seemed that every world had some similarities. Perhaps that was just humanity?

This brief interlude added more color to tonight’s barbecue party.

When everyone was halfway through eating and had begun to chat, Pororo suddenly raised a hand, gesturing downward. The others noticed and immediately lowered their voices but didn’t fall completely silent. Instead, they began to communicate slowly, their eyes darting around, conveying messages.

Pororo’s ears twitched slightly as he said softly, ”Someone’s coming.”

Upon hearing this, the few of them stopped pretending, immediately alert and staring into the nearby darkness.

Against the moonlight, they saw someone staggering toward them in the distance. The person’s movements were wobbly, seemingly very strained.

As the figure drew closer, his appearance became clear, and it could only be described as miserable.

This was a male who looked emaciated but stood about 1.8 meters tall. His face was covered in dirt, making his stubble appear black, though his head was shiny and bald. He looked extremely weak, his body abnormally thin. His clothes were ragged, with scorched edges here and there. From certain angles, they could see wounds on his body, some already inflamed and festering.

He gazed at Alka and the others with bloodshot eyes, his nose twitching continually.

”Finally found people. Can you give me some food and water? I feel like I’m about to die.”

Chadite slightly shook his head at the others. Jason immediately stepped forward and supported the man, then took out his waterskin and handed it to him.

The man, as thin as a bamboo pole, grabbed the waterskin and drank, GLUG GLUG GLUG, until it was entirely empty. He then let out a heavy sigh, seeming to finally come back to life.

”You seem to haven’t eaten for a long time,” Jason said from nearby. ”If you eat these grilled skewers directly, there might be problems.” Some basic medical knowledge, especially emergency rescue methods, was a requisite for a member of the Treasure Hunting Team.

The man waved his hand. ”Don’t worry, my physique is special; I won’t be affected.”

Hearing this, Jason didn’t insist. He picked up the already grilled skewers and handed them to the man.

The man took the skewers, bit off a few large chunks, and chewed quickly. He commented, ”Grilled a bit too long. The flame was too strong, there wasn’t enough seasoning and it was applied unevenly, and the meat wasn’t cut well.” He added, ”But I’m so hungry, it’s fine.”

Upon hearing the man’s words, everyone around was stunned. What was he talking about? Alka felt that if he hadn’t misheard, this man seemed to be critiquing the grilled meat they had given him. This was somewhat inappropriate. He wondered if hunger had clouded the man’s mind, causing him to be confused. Alka thought a normal person wouldn’t do such a thing.
