Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 189: Chapter 146 Sifus and Jack_2

”No way. The treasure I found must be explored by the two of us together. Otherwise, if you tell Alka you found it alone, I won’t be able to refute it.”

”But that’s too dangerous. Besides, how could I ever say that in front of Alka?” Sifus said helplessly.

”Don’t worry, Sifus, I’m really good at this,” Alka’s mother said, waving her arms and flexing to show her strength.

”Alright then. You go first, be careful.”

In the end, Sifus couldn’t resist his wife’s demand and agreed.

The two of them conversed intimately.

Listening to their exchange, Alka couldn’t help but glance at the Sifus beside him.

At this moment, that Sifus was all smiles as he watched the conversation between the two silhouettes in the memory.

Just like that, the two figures in the memory climbed up using the grappling hook, entering the cave one after the other.

Alka and the Sifus narrating the memory also followed the scene.

Upon reaching the top, the Sifus in the memory pulled Lisha protectively behind him and lit the torches they had brought.

After walking just a few steps, they saw the bottom of the cave.

An enormous pile of treasure was stacked there. Row after row of Treasure Chests were piled high, and some treasures that couldn’t fit in the chests had been casually tossed aside.

These treasures, having lain here for hundreds of years, were covered in dust, but that didn’t dampen their excitement.

Lisha moved past Sifus and stood before the treasures.

Filled with surprise and joy, she happily exclaimed, ”We finally found it! Thank you, Grandfather! With this fortune, we and Alka can...”

She hadn’t finished speaking when her voice abruptly stopped; a long-handled dagger had pierced through her back.

It was so sudden, so utterly unexpected.

Lisha looked at the blade tip protruding from her chest. She opened her mouth, but no words came out before she collapsed to the ground.

If her expression could have been seen, her eyes would surely have been filled with confusion and disbelief.

The Sifus beside Alka watched this scene, clutching his head in agony.

They had witnessed the entire scene unfold.

A wisp of something resembling a Soul Body emerged, then directly entered the Sifus silhouette’s body.

The Sifus silhouette behind Lisha immediately picked up a nearby dust-covered sword blade and thrust it forward.

Just as Lisha fell, the blade in that Sifus’s hand dropped to the ground. He hurriedly knelt, embracing Lisha’s corpse.

It seemed the possession had ended, and Sifus had regained control of his body. The long-handled dagger must have been imbued with a Spell; otherwise, it wouldn’t have taken Lisha’s life so quickly. When that Sifus embraced her, she must have already been a corpse. Lisha’s figure was completely still; there wasn’t the slightest movement.

Blood flowed down, staining the treasure and seemingly activating something.

A much larger cluster of Spiritual Bodies floated out, as if an entire soul had been completely liberated, and surged into Sifus’s body.

Then, they saw that Sifus begin to struggle madly on the spot, flailing his arms and legs.

It seemed as if he was resisting with all his might. To anyone unaware of the situation, he would have appeared insane.

The two were vying for control.

Seeing this, Alka finally understood the whole sequence of events.

Firstly, only a sliver of Jack’s original soul must have emerged and entered Sifus’s body. It was so sudden that Sifus had no time to resist and was immediately controlled. Even if he had resisted, what could he do? Sifus was just an ordinary person at that time. Furthermore, Jack had acted swiftly, his objective clear: he drew the sword and killed my mother. The entire process took no more than two seconds. The moment he did so, Jack immediately relinquished control of Sifus’s body, likely needing my mother’s blood to unlock something. Because afterward, when her blood streamed onto one of the objects in the treasure pile, a large mass of Soul Bodies surged out—this must have been all of Jack’s spiritual essence. At this point, these Soul Bodies all rushed into Sifus’s body, vying with him for control. Sifus at that time was merely an ordinary person, while Jack was a Toucher from 200 years ago. Jack had probably obtained something akin to a Soul-Trapping Demon Mirror, which he used for slumber. So, this Spiritual Body’s strength was quite formidable, Alka reasoned. It was definitely stronger than Sifus, allowing Jack to easily win control in the subsequent struggle. Once Jack had fully taken over Sifus’s body, he found a ring among the treasure and put it on his finger. He then absorbed all the treasure into the ring. When the ring’s capacity seemed insufficient, he discarded some of the chests. He didn’t even bother to retrieve the remaining coins that spilled from them. And my mother’s corpse still lay beside him, yet he didn’t spare it a glance, stepping through the pools of blood as he left, leaving behind a trail of blood-red footprints that extended to the cave entrance.

”Then he just left?”

Hearing Alka’s question, Sifus shook his head. ”No, he came looking for you and carved the Spell for this chain onto your hand.”

”You must be wondering why he was so fixated on you, right?”

Alka nodded. Indeed, he still couldn’t understand why Jack was so fixated on him. If Jack truly needed him, why wait until now? Wasn’t it easier before? Or simply taking his younger self away would have been far simpler.
