Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 159: Chapter 136 Treasure - Dream Catcher (10,000-Character Chapter)_5

He said to the others, ”Let’s find a safe place to rest for a while.”

Everyone nodded and subsequently found a relatively sturdy house in the residential area to rest.

Chadite took out the Magic Furnace, and its warm light illuminated the room.

”Alka, why did you decide to use the Holy Sword’s fire to burn this arm?”

Hearing this, Alka looked at the Brass Arm beside him. He shook his head. ”I don’t know. The Holy Sword told me to burn it, so I did.”

At the time, holding the sword, he hadn’t actually thought of using its flames to burn anything. But as mentioned before, when one wields the sword, the sword itself teaches how to strike. So, Alka had simply struck, letting the flames engulf it.

The subsequent daze and receiving another revelation from the Holy Mother confirmed that this was the action She wanted him to take. And indeed, they had acquired a Holy Artifact, although it was unclear whose it was.

But isn’t a Holy Artifact just another kind of Treasure? Albeit one specific to a faction under a particular Divine. I’m not a follower of this Divine, so I don’t even know if I can use it.

”The Holy Mother’s guidance?” Chadite murmured. If the Holy Sword told him to do it, then surely that was the Holy Mother’s guidance.

After a short rest, Alka stood up. ”I want to go see where this Evil Spirit came from. Does anyone want to come with me?”

The Evil Spirit and the arm had clearly originated from a different blue-marked location on the map, yet they had rushed to attack only when Alka obtained the Treasure Chest. Moreover, when the Evil Spirit charged out, its words indicated it knew about the Treasure Chest and that it likely contained Treasure.

Alka speculated that, while alive, the creature had been chasing the owner of this Treasure. However, the owner had somehow died inside a residential house, protecting the Treasure Chest to the very end. The owner must have used some ability before death to hide the Treasure Chest, preventing the Evil Spirit from finding it until they retrieved it.

Although they now had the information from the golden light point, Alka still wanted to investigate further to see if he could gather more details. The current information was clearly insufficient for him to find the key needed to open the Treasure Chest. He had never heard of the Holy Machine Church. He decided to investigate the location first and then ask Chadite and Lucilia if they knew anything about this Church.

Hearing Alka’s words, Pororo and Julia both waved their hands dismissively. Pororo’s stamina and Magic Power were only just beginning to recover; he needed Meditation to accelerate the process. Julia was in a similar situation. Her actual strength was at the Two Spirals level, but she had been able to completely bind the Evil Spirit because she could exert Three Spirals strength. By using her ability to fully restrain the Evil Spirit from start to finish, she had made the most crucial contribution. The corresponding Energy consumption had also been huge. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have dealt with the Evil Spirit so easily; even if they had won, it would have been a pyrrhic victory.

Chadite stood up and came to his side. ”Then we two will go explore first. You two rest well here.”

Alka said this, intentionally leaving the Brass Arm and the Treasure Chest in the house. Then, he and Chadite left the house, beginning to investigate along the trail the Evil Spirit had taken.

Reaching the central avenue, they indeed found the trail of blood, which perfectly matched the Evil Spirit’s path.

”It seems the Treasure Hunting Team from earlier was the one that encountered this Evil Spirit,” Chadite said, looking at the trail.

Alka nodded. Indeed, that Treasure Hunting Team had been unlucky.

The two followed the blood trail to a large, collapsed villa, which had a gaping hole beneath it. The area was littered with dismembered limbs and blood clots, and a foul, bloody stench filled the air. It looked like the Treasure Hunting Team had been attacked here.

Covering their noses, the two glanced inside. The gaping hole revealed the villa’s basement. Though it had caved in, they could still see it was filled with densely packed skeletons. Beneath the skeletons, an Array was visible. The scattered ritual implements nearby also told them what this place had been used for.

Alka sensed a familiar feeling from the Array and its surroundings.

Isn’t this the scene I saw in that vision? It seems that vision was from 400 years ago. You could only say this group of Cultists was particularly unlucky. Judging by the looks of it, they must have just completed their vile ritual when a dark outbreak struck, wiping them out. Serves them right, though it’s a pity they weren’t all wiped out. They were Cultists to begin with. Dying in an outbreak of malevolent Energy, they transformed into Evil Spirits, becoming even more malevolent. The Treasure Hunting Team that stumbled upon this place was also unlucky.

At this thought, Alka suddenly froze.

If you look at it that way, aren’t we even unluckier? Normally, without any interference, the Difficulty of obtaining the Treasure indicated by the golden light point would merely involve dealing with whoever held the key. There wouldn’t have been any significant Difficulty. The situation wouldn’t have suddenly escalated to a Three Spirals level of Difficulty, endangering them. However, it was precisely because that Treasure Hunting Team awakened the Evil Spirit here, and then, coincidentally, we obtained something that interested it.
