Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 175: Chapter 141: Comprehending the Spell_3

When he touched the Crystal Ball, Alka felt only a hint of chill. He rubbed it a couple more times, but still, nothing happened. He had to withdraw his hand and shrugged helplessly.

”Looks like my luck isn’t so good.”

”It’s never easy the first time,” Lucilia said from the side, explaining to them how to touch it for better efficiency. ”Just come by often and touch it. The more you interact with it, the easier it becomes to comprehend a Spell from the Treasure. However, you only have one chance to comprehend something this way. Once you do, you don’t need to keep touching it; you won’t comprehend anything more after that.”

Looking at the Dream Catcher in his hand, Alka glanced at Pororo, who was steering the ship, and walked straight over.

”You all heard what Lucilia said. Come and touch it; maybe you’ll strike it lucky.”

Hearing this, Pororo immediately extended his hand, looking ready to show off.

”Let me try! I always feel lucky; the Ocean will bless me.”

His broad palm covered the crystal in one motion, yet nothing happened.

Pororo frowned, seemingly unable to believe his bad luck. He rubbed the crystal vigorously a couple more times, but still, nothing.

”It must be because this Treasure isn’t suited for me.”

”Yes, yes, yes,” Alka replied perfunctorily, then controlled the Dream Catcher to move over to Julia, who had been listening to their conversation all along. He made the Crystal Ball float before her.

”You try it too.”

Julia nodded, an interested expression on her face; she found it very intriguing. Her former tribe hadn’t been powerful and possessed no such Treasures. She reached out and gently caressed the Crystal Ball.

As her hand touched the crystal, the red mist within flickered slightly, and Julia immediately closed her eyes.

”It really worked!”

Alka himself was shocked. He had just casually let everyone try it for fun, yet Julia had actually comprehended something. According to Lucilia, frequent touching made comprehension easier; he hadn’t expected it to happen on the very first try. From now on, Julia wouldn’t need to touch the Dream Catcher again to comprehend more Spells.

Pororo secured the ship’s helm and quickly strode over. Lucilia and Chadite hurried over as well. Everyone looked curious.

Julia opened her eyes. Seeing the crowd gathered around, she smiled.

”I did comprehend a Spell, but it doesn’t seem very useful.”

”What Spell?”

”Is it strong?”

”What ability does it have?”

They all started asking questions at once.

Julia smiled and raised her hands, signaling everyone not to get excited. She then raised her right hand, and a light pink Spell composed of three twisted lines appeared on it.

”The name of this Spell is [Sleep]. Its effect is simple, just as the name suggests: it allows someone to fall into a peaceful sleep.”

Upon hearing Julia’s explanation, they all fell silent. What could they say? The name and effect were perfectly fitting for something comprehended from the Dream Catcher. As for its effect... well, you couldn’t say it was useless; that certainly wouldn’t be accurate. There were countless people in the world troubled by insomnia and suffering, unable to sleep peacefully. But to claim it was of great use would be an exaggeration.

”It’s alright. At least it’s better than us comprehending nothing,” Alka remarked lightly.

Julia also smiled. ”I think so too.”

After a casual chat, everyone dispersed. But judging by their expressions, it was clear they didn’t hold high hopes for what Spell they might gain from touching the Dream Catcher in the future.

Alka returned to his room, which was located right behind the captain’s cabin and connected to it. He sat on his bed.

”Lucilia, my strength has risen to Three Spirals thanks to the Treasure. Will meditating now be more efficient?”

He vaguely remembered Lucilia mentioning something like this during a previous conversation and wanted to confirm it now. He was currently very eager to increase his strength.

Lucilia’s voice reached his ears.

”Yes, it can. According to the ancient texts and my own knowledge, the meditation speed of a Treasure’s owner is much faster than that of others, especially for those who haven’t yet reached Three Spirals. Holding a Treasure allows the surrounding Magic Power to gather at its center, because the Treasure itself is a high-energy magic entity. It can also help stabilize the energy channels within the body, enabling one to withstand faster meditation speeds. These factors all play a decisive role in the enhancement of one’s strength.”

”This is a fundamental aspect of mastery. So, if you accelerate your meditation now, you should be able to reach Three Spirals relatively soon. And once you reach Three Spirals, you will be considered to have truly mastered the Treasure.”

After all, Alka hadn’t yet met even the most basic requirement for mastering the Treasure; he was still relying on its feedback to achieve his current level. To say he had truly mastered the Treasure at this point would be an overstatement.

”In that case, if my strength increases further, will the Treasure’s feedback elevate my abilities even more?”

Upon hearing this, Lucilia’s voice came only after a brief pause.

”It probably will, but I’m not entirely sure. You’ll know once you reach Three Spirals.”

Although she possessed extensive knowledge, she knew very little about the specific feedback one received from possessing a Treasure. After all, in life, she hadn’t been one who could form such a connection with Treasures. Her understanding of those who could came entirely from her observations and descriptions in books.

”Alright then.”

Alka sat cross-legged on the bed, preparing to enter Meditation. Just before he did, he suddenly said, ”Oh right, I forgot to tell you. Using the Hand of Precision, I’ve created a new Soul-Host Puppet. This new one will allow you to speak through the puppet, and it should also last longer.”

”Really? That’s great! Thank you, Alka, you’re amazing!”

”It’s alright.”
