He rushed to the referee, raised his hands beside him, and shouted, “The last defender besides the goalkeeper, shouldn’t such a foul be a red card?!”

The referee was taken aback, with a brief look of contemplation on his face, but he quickly shook his head, “David Luiz and Fabregas both have a chance to chase back, it doesn’t count as the last man!”

“Ha…..” Ma’el found it ridiculous, spreading his hands, “Do you want me to have a race with them to see who’s faster?”

The referee had no intention of talking to him and didn’t even want to meet his gaze.

Realizing that the decision could not be changed, he had to swallow his anger and turn around to support his teammates!

He came to the conflict site and pulled Giroud up from the ground, feeling a surge of anger in his heart when he saw the Scarface Hero Ribery still wanting to come over, it seemed unending.

He looked disgusted, fiercely pushing his forehead against Ribery’s, “What are you trying to do? Do you think you’re still in the France team of 2010, bullying French players at will?!”

Ribery also pushed back, locking horns with him, “Get lost, you snot-nosed kid, what right do you have to shout at me here?”

“Haha.” Ma’el forcefully pushed forward, almost knocking Ribery to the ground, “Play well in England, or if your value drops to 35 million, it’ll just be a fraction of mine.”

Since the opponent was using aggressive language against him, he naturally chose some hurtful words in response.

Ribery gritted his teeth angrily, glaring at Ma’el as he stepped forward slowly.

Terry and a few others rushed over to pull him back, but instead of calming down, he kept jumping forward more vigorously, looking like he wanted to break free, ranting incessantly, “Keep being smug, kid! You￥&**#…..!”

The referee arrived then, and since there were too many people involved in the scuffle, he could only give yellow cards to Giroud and Fabregas, who started it, and verbally warned the others.

“You…..” Ribery wanted to say more, but suddenly felt a lightness as Terry and the others stopped pulling him.

Taking advantage of Ma’el not turning his head, he quickly stopped himself, and after discreetly waving his hand to the sky, he didn’t utter another word, suddenly looking well-behaved.

On the penalty line, Van Persie, holding the soccer ball, thought for a moment and then turned to Ma’el, “That breakthrough was amazing, you take this shot…..as long as you score, that breakthrough will be remembered.”

“Alright, thanks.” Ma’el didn’t decline, gratefully patting Van Persie’s back, took the soccer ball, and went to the penalty spot.

Before getting ready, he looked back at Van Persie, “No matter what, that breakthrough will be remembered.”

Van Persie smiled briefly, then quickly put a finger to his lips, signaling Ma’el not to say that, assuring him the goal will go in.

Ma’el smiled slightly, placed the ball on the penalty spot, and took a few deep breaths with his head down.

He really wanted the Community Shield Cup match, his desire for this championship was much higher than that of ordinary fans.

Thus, he had to seize this opportunity that could be the leading goal!

Looking up at Cech, several daunting feelings arose in him, as if he was experiencing Ronaldo’s feelings in the 2008 Champions League final.

Peter Cech was just too big, standing on the goal line with his arms spread, it felt like the entire goal was his.

And unlike other goalkeepers who like to jump and bounce, the opponent stood firmly in place, just staring at him with sharp eyes, seemingly trying to judge the shooting direction through his micro-expressions.

“Beep!”

The referee’s whistle sounded, Ma’el took one last deep breath before shooting, “Phew…..!”

Then, he held his breath, took steps towards the soccer ball, constantly observing if Cech’s body made any movements.

Making him feel uneasy was the fact that his opponent never moved, maintaining an observational stance…..this made it difficult for him, who intended to choose a shooting direction based on the opponent’s movements.

But the run-up had already started, there was no way to stop, just kick it to the lower left corner and give it a try.

“Bang!”

Ma’el’s right foot pushed towards the bottom middle of the soccer ball, sending it towards the lower left corner of the goal. After the shot, he looked up to find, to his despair, that Cech dove towards that direction.

“Plop…..!” His opponent’s hands quickly hit the soccer ball, deflecting it away from the goal.

At this moment, Cech’s figure seemed so enormous and invincible, like an AI goalkeeper that always makes the right decision.

“Bang!!”

“Yeahhh…..!”

As David Luiz followed up with a big clearance out of bounds, Chelsea’s fans stood up and cheered with raised arms…..Ma’el painfully closed his eyes, placing his hands on his hips.

Many thoughts emerged in his mind at once, he should’ve gone for the middle, should’ve feigned to one side and shot to the other, should’ve decided early to blast one side with conviction.

Even though most penalty takers miss at some point in their career, and he’s not even a penalty taker yet, missing a penalty isn’t that big of a deal.

But for someone who hadn’t felt frustrated on the field in a long time, it was inevitable to briefly sink into sorrow and self-blame.

This was a penalty he earned himself, no need to apologize to anyone, but with Van Persie voluntarily giving him the shot which he then missed, it was hard not to feel he’d let down his good partner’s trust.

“Come on…..!”

Ribery and Fabregas ran past him yelling, heading over to pick Cech up, but in reality, they were just piling salt on his wounds.

“Ma’el!

“A shout came at this time, he looked back, it was Van Persie smiling at him, “Actually, you were right, even if it didn’t go in, that breakthrough will be remembered.
