Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 1384: Chapter 1384: Meeting After All

”If I just give you a sum of money like this, it proves I’m condoning your behavior.”

Trevor spoke calmly, ”If I allow extortion, then similar things might happen frequently in the future; you will extort others, and others will extort me again.”

He grasped their mindset perfectly, and the family members felt guilty...

Trevor, unperturbed, stated logically, ”How the elder died can be assessed, and I think you don’t want the result to come out.”

None of the family members dared to speak...

But Trevor was kind-hearted. He wanted to bring good fortune and didn’t want to waste more time, as he had to meet with partners soon.

So he said to them, ”I will give you a sum of money.”

The family members on the sofa were slightly startled, raising their eyes to look at him, all feeling incredulous.

Trevor met their gaze, judging on his own, ”Perhaps you’ve encountered difficulties, forced to do this.” Because they didn’t seem like bad people.

As soon as the man’s generous words came out, the family members were initially shocked for a few seconds, then their bodies slid, kneeling down directly.

They were filled with remorse, ”Thank you... thank you, Mr. Trevino.”

”We have a sick child at home, we were indeed forced to do this, and have spent all our savings for his treatment.”

Outside the room, Janelle peered in, witnessing the scene clearly and vividly.

Earlier, Simon roughly explained the situation to her as they came in.

She originally cursed inwardly, thinking this was blatant extortion. Is there no shame?

Originally, she thought Trevor would proceed coldly with legal actions, not letting bad people exploit any loopholes, but surprisingly, he moved them emotionally, instructed them with reason, and agreed to give a sum of money.

The family members knelt down, kowtowing, each deeply grateful, which moved Janelle greatly; she suddenly didn’t know what to say.

Then the family members themselves left, and Janelle stepped aside.

As for Trevor? He was still in the reception room.

Janelle didn’t know what he was thinking, only saw a tall, slender back with hands in pockets, inexplicably feeling a bit sorry for him.

The police at the door left too, Simon received a phone call and went to the entrance to meet the partners.

Seeing him okay, Janelle felt relieved.

Just as she was about to slip away quietly, a voice came from the corridor—

”Miss Mills!”

Cecilia Dunn’s voice not only made Janelle stop in her tracks, but also reached Trevor’s ears; he turned his gaze upon hearing.

In the corridor, Janelle’s heart skipped a beat; turning, she saw Cecilia, ”Hey~” She greeted proactively, smiling a bit awkwardly.

Instinctively, she glanced towards the reception hall entrance; as expected, Trevor came out.

He saw her at once, their eyes met.

Cecilia halted, hurriedly turned around, and slipped away; this occasion was really unsuitable for a third person.

Trevor just stared at her, hands in pockets, striding towards her.

No oppressive aura, but he approached her step by step, making Janelle’s heart pound again. She tried hard to restrain herself, quickly searching for her reason to come to the company in her mind.

”Um, I...” She didn’t know how to explain; Trevor, standing firmly in front of her, used his absolute height advantage to look down at her, the two standing within half a meter of each other.

He asked nothing, his expression gentle, gaze deep, as if he just wanted to hear what she had to say.
