Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 1367: Chapter 1367: Loving with Cautious Care

”Do you acknowledge it?” Carlotta Sterling glanced at her, half amused and half annoyed, ”How can you acknowledge it? So deeply in love even before getting married? What if you have kids after marriage? How will you retreat unscathed if you get hurt? Do you think being a single mom is easy?”

”Mom!” Janelle Mills was unhappy after hearing this, and her emotions were a bit agitated, ”Why do you always think negatively? Can’t you wish me well? I haven’t even taken the first step, and you’re already talking about divorce?”

”Are you planning to just date without marriage?” Carlotta Sterling asked, ”Or are you willing to marry, and he’s not planning to? You aren’t seventeen or eighteen anymore; you’re adults, aren’t you heading towards marriage?”

”I...”

”Because I know better than you what marriage really is! What it can bring to a woman!” Carlotta Sterling’s emotions were intensely stirred, ”How much did I love your father back then? I could have given my life to him, but what about him? He took it for granted!”

”I am me, and you are you; our lives cannot be mixed together!”

Janelle Mills kept arguing back, ”I’m not a victim of the war between you and Dad! If Trevor hadn’t been introduced by Dad, you would have agreed! You obviously are satisfied with him! You’ve been checking on him all these days!”

As an elder, Carlotta Sterling couldn’t admit her own small thoughts, but a hint of guilt flashed in her eyes.

”Yes, he is very outstanding.” Carlotta Sterling kept emphasizing, ”Janelle, it’s not that Mom has to oppose, it’s just that Trevor feels so cold and distant, and it’s hard for an ordinary person to get into his inner world. He has a defensive heart, but Julian is different, Julian is casual and warm, and easy to get along with.”

”Love isn’t about making choices, it’s not about choosing one or the other, love is about the first feeling!” the girl said firmly, ”No matter what, I will choose Trevor, even if he doesn’t want me!”

After speaking, Janelle Mills turned and went into her room, feeling exhausted, not wanting to argue anymore.

Carlotta Sterling watched her daughter’s back, initially wanting to communicate more, but she couldn’t find a suitable reason.

Returning to her room, Janelle Mills locked the door behind her; she sat hugging her knees on the sofa, tears in her eyes, and her heart filled with a sour ache.

She liked Trevor, liked him so much, a fondness known only to herself.

But she and Trevor were just ordinary friends.

She was willing to start as friends, no matter how cold he was, she was willing to take the initiative to get close to him, to love him, to protect him.

Anyway, he didn’t have a girlfriend.

Thinking about Trevor’s dinner tonight, his meticulous arrangements, and the things he said, her heart felt warm again, with a kind of illusion of being in love.

Arguing with her mother, she felt wronged, and she couldn’t help but think of him.

She took out her phone and opened his WeChat profile picture, not intending to message him; he was probably busy.

She opened his Moments to have a look, although it was only occasional shares of official links, with no life-sharing or selfies.

But she scrolled through it all, as if this was the only way to be close to him.

Her love was always so cautious, afraid of involving him, afraid of disturbing him, even more afraid of ruining this hard-won friendship.

At night, Simon was still working overtime at the company, and Trevor had gone to the company too.

Simon’s ability to handle affairs was strong, and the mess that the president had handed over was almost sorted out by him.

So as soon as Trevor entered the office, Simon started reporting.

After he finished reporting, Trevor looked up and asked, ”Have you ever pursued a girl?”

”Huh?” Simon was stunned for a moment, what’s this about? Switching topics just like that?

Trevor asked again, ”Do you understand girls?”
