Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 1383: Chapter 1383: Janelle Worries About Trevor

”Mr. Trevino, they’re obviously trying to extort us. If we pay them off directly, this kind of thing will just happen again!” Cecilia Dunn was anxious. She caught up with him and didn’t agree with using money to solve the problem at all.

Trevor remained calm, his pace quick, and he didn’t acknowledge her.

What Cecilia Dunn could think of, Trevor had already thought of.

He observed the family members in their tattered clothes, their weathered faces not matching their ages, and felt pity as a noble gentleman.

He couldn’t bear to use the most forceful means to deal with them.

In the lobby, he walked towards the meeting room with his hands in his pockets. Cecilia Dunn stopped, and the family members were also brought in. They still tried desperately to rush at him, crying and yelling, while the bodyguards and police held them back.

The family members were emotionally charged, as if they saw hope for compensation, yet also as if they saw none.

Simon entered as well, unable to help raising his voice to tell them—

”If you continue to make a scene, we will take legal action! Right now, Mr. Trevino is willing to talk with you; this is your only chance! I urge you to cherish it!”

Listening to his stern tone, the family members calmed down a bit.

Soon, someone at the door transported the old man’s body to the hearse.

The police were also assisting with the process, following normal procedures, and had retrieved the surveillance footage from the entrance. Everything was handled with a human touch.

So, by the time Janelle Mills arrived, the entrance no longer resembled the chaotic scenes seen in the viral videos on Weibo...

It was quiet and empty, and she was briefly stunned, as if nothing had happened.

Still feeling puzzled, she walked forward, just as Simon came out. She saw some black-suited bodyguards standing inside the hall’s glass doors.

Things didn’t seem so simple; there was an indescribable atmosphere.

Simon happened to see her too and stopped.

Janelle Mills quickly walked towards him, ”Assistant Simon, where’s Trevor? I saw...” She glanced around, struggling to describe, ”I saw the video; did something happen?”

Simon told her, ”Mr. Trevino is in the meeting room, dealing with some troublesome matters.”

”I want...” She looked at the heavily guarded entrance, ”I want to see him, is it possible? I can wait.”

Even though she couldn’t do much to help, she was genuinely worried and just wanted to come and see.

Simon knew her special status, even though Mr. Trevino hadn’t officially announced anything, this woman was very likely to be the future president’s wife.

Simon dared not be negligent.

So, he nodded and made a decision on his own, ”Miss Mills, please come in with me.”

”Thank you.” Janelle followed him inside, full of gratitude.

In the large meeting room, before entering, the police had said something to the deceased’s family members, making them fearful, realizing that no matter how much they screamed and cried, they wouldn’t get money and might even break the law.

After coming in, Trevor asked them to sit, and he was quite temperamental.

Each of them sat down on the sofa. With no outsiders, the police left.

Only Trevor stood not far away, dressed in a dark, tailored suit, his deep eyes calmly observing them, making them feel guilty with just a simple glance.

”The old man indeed passed away, which undoubtedly is a tragic loss for a family.”

Trevor spoke with a slight frown and thin lips, ”However, whether his death has anything to do with my company or myself, you know better than anyone.”

Finally, he reminded them, ”There are surveillance cameras at the entrance.”

The family members dared not respond because the police had just made it clear that this was illegal, and further entanglement could result in jail time.

Every large company has its own legal team and legal department.
