Dungeon Corpse Stacker: I Absorb Everything to Become Ominous Monarch

The flash of twelve thousand megajoules at a distance of three paces did not create light.

It created an instantaneous vacuum of pure, blinding white radiance that scorched the retinas of the flight crews forty miles away on the carrier deck.

The two twin barrels of the sixty-millimeter magnetic rail cannons melted along their lower rifling grooves the instant the magnetic capacitors discharged. The solid tungsten slugs, propelled by raw fission current, tore through the salt air at twenty thousand feet per second, dragging an incandescent vortex of superheated plasma that vaporized the puddles of leaked hydraulic fluid across the basalt plateau before the physical metal even touched Renan’s woolen coat.

Renan did not raise the void dagger to parry.

He took half a step forward into the path of the firing arc, his boots biting through the brittle volcanic crust.

[Skill Activated: Absolute Mass Inversion] [Current Sovereign Core Density: 14,200 Units] [Target: Primary Kinetic Projectile Stream (Twin 60mm Tungsten Slugs)] [Conversion Ratio: 100% Kinetic Deceleration to Gravimetric Compression]

The two supersonic projectiles did not strike flesh.

Three inches from Renan’s breastbone, the physical space contracted into an impenetrable singularity of pure downward gravity.

The tungsten slugs hit the threshold and stopped dead.

Their forward velocity of twenty thousand feet per second was wiped clean in less than a microsecond, the enormous kinetic inertia having nowhere to escape except inward into the crystalline lattice of the metal itself. The two three-inch slugs pancaked into two flat discs of white-hot slag, dropping straight down between Renan’s boots with sharp metallic plinks, cooling to dull gray iron against the damp stone.

The expanding cone of superheated plasma that followed washed over Renan’s frame.

His dark woolen coat burned away at the lapels, the heavy black cloth smoking as the scorching heat licked against his throat.

Yet the skin beneath was not blistered.

A dense lattice of deep violet necrotic runes pulsed beneath his collarbone, drinking the thermal energy directly into his bloodline conduits with a low, rhythmic hum that mirrored the deep tremors of the tectonic shelf below.

Renan exhaled a breath of superheated air, his violet eyes locking onto the glowing sensor cluster of the towering machine.

”Twelve thousand megajoules,” Renan spoke, his voice cutting clean through the hiss of melted copper. ”A respectable effort for a combustion engine.”

Inside the neural immersion tank, the sudden flatline of the impact telemetry hit General Vance like physical suffocation.

The diagnostic screen did not show a target destroyed; it showed two spent projectiles lying at the Sovereign’s feet and a target whose internal mass reading had increased by fourteen hundred units after absorbing the discharge.

”Impossible,” Vance’s thought screamed through the carrier bridge link. ”No biological marrow can withstand that rate of energy transfer without cellular vaporisation.”

Outside on the stone plateau, the Colossus Prime’s cooling radiators exploded.

Twin geysers of scalding radioactive steam blasted forty feet into the morning sky as the primary coolant loop failed under the feedback surge.

The four reverse-jointed legs locked their hydraulic valves, fighting to keep sixty-eight tons of twisted iron from collapsing backward onto the pontoon ramp.

Renan did not wait for the steam to clear.

He stepped forward, the heels of his leather boots clicking sharply against the glassy, fused rock where the railgun blast had melted the stone.

With his left hand empty and his right hand reversing the grip on his void dagger, Renan closed the final five paces between himself and the towering slate-gray chassis.

”You spent your life measuring warfare with calipers, Vance,” Renan said, his voice quiet, cold, and carrying the merciless weight of an executioner descending the scaffold steps. ”You calculated mass, you calculated speed, and you calculated how many tons of iron it takes to make men bow to your council.”

Renan leaped.

He did not use wings of shadow or bursts of wind magic.

The pure physical strength residing within his fourteen thousand units of Sovereign density drove him fifteen feet straight up into the air, his silhouette cutting through the plume of white steam like a hunting hawk.

He landed with both boots planted squarely upon the sloped breastplate of the Colossus Prime.

The sixty-eight-ton mech groaned under the sudden downward force, its forward knee actuators bending two inches deeper into the basalt.

Inside the dark cylinder of the immersion tank, Vance felt the heavy, suffocating pressure directly above his chest.

Through the mech’s optical feeds, he looked up into the pale face of the Sovereign standing upon his hull, dark hair whipping in the gale, violet pupils burning with cold, predatory clarity.

”Eject the chest reactive tiles!” Vance ordered through the emergency neural solenoid. ”Detonate the armor pack!”

Four blocks of explosive reactive armor bolted across the mech’s chest plate armed their shaped charges, preparing to detonate seventy pounds of high-density explosive outward to obliterate whatever stood upon the hull.

Renan did not leap off.

He raised his right arm, bringing the void dagger down in a short, brutal vertical stroke.

[Monarch Authority: Conceptual Cleave]

A hairline ribbon of silver-violet light traced from the tip of the obsidian blade, sinking through twelve inches of cold-rolled depleted uranium armor and the four explosive detonation circuits beneath.

The explosive tiles did not ignite; their electronic firing circuits and molecular chemical bonds were severed at the atomic level before the electrical current could jump the gap.

The twelve-inch armor breastplate of the Colossus Prime split cleanly from collar to groin with the wet, tearing screech of parted iron.

Renan reached down with both bare hands, driving his fingers into the split seam.

His Sovereign mana surged through his arms, his biceps swelling beneath his torn woolen sleeves as he applied forty tons of outward lateral leverage.

CREAAAK!

With a terrifying shriek of shearing rivets and snapping titanium structural ribs, Renan tore the massive armor plates apart, peeling the sixty-eight-ton war machine open like a cracked oyster shell.

Inside the hollow cavity of the chest, bathed in the eerie amber luminescence of emergency backup batteries, rested the thick-walled pressure cylinder of the neural immersion tank.

Through the reinforced six-inch quartz observation porthole of the tank, the pale fluorocarbon fluid churned with bubbles of expelled air.

General Marcus Vance was suspended inside the chemical brine, his biological body clad in the black neural compression suit, his gray hair floating weightlessly in the fluid.

Three titanium spinal shunts were driven into the base of his skull, their blue diagnostic LEDs flickering erratically as the mech’s systems died around him.

Vance did not close his eyes.

Through the thick glass, the American general looked directly into Renan’s violet irises.

His jaw was set in hard, stubborn defiance, his physical knuckles clenched against the interior suspension rings, refusing to display fear even as his twelve-billion-dollar warframe hung gutted and helpless on the stone plateau.

Renan stood balanced upon the sheared edges of the armor plating, looking down through the glass into the eyes of the man who had ordered the kinetic bombardment of his homeland.

He raised the void dagger, resting the dark obsidian point against the center of the quartz porthole.

Beneath the blade, a spiderweb of fine micro-fractures bloomed across the glass, accompanied by the sharp, terrifying hiss of forty pounds of internal fluid pressure beginning to leak through the seam.

Through the radio receiver pinned to Vance’s immersion suit, Renan’s voice filtered into the fluid, quiet as falling ash:

”Your machine is broken, General. Step out of the tank, or drown in your own medicine.”
