Hijacking the Timeline

He was no longer the dominant overlord of 1500 years in the future, nor could he match the Spirit Energy Clan, who had developed their powers for centuries.

Though he possessed exceptional innate talent and formidable strength, he was ultimately overwhelmed by the encirclement.

Just as the Spirit Energy Clan and military department soldiers believed they were about to disperse the blood mist and capture or kill the Lord of the Mist, the blood mist suddenly expanded rapidly, engulfing the entire area.

Then, the blood mist sank, enveloping all the attackers within its crimson shroud.

Faced with this crimson encirclement, they struggled desperately to break free, but for a moment, they found themselves unable to breach the blood mist’s blockade.

At that moment, the Lord of the Mist’s figure burst through the blood mist and landed on the execution platform.

Blood dripped continuously from his body onto the execution platform. His face bore the familiar smile Feng Qi knew so well as he walked toward him, leaving bloody footprints with each step.

”Feng Qi, I’m taking you home.”

The metal shackles binding him were torn apart as the Lord of the Mist bent down and lifted the injured Feng Qi onto his back.

”You shouldn’t have come,” Feng Qi said, forcing himself to suppress his emotions.

”Now that I’m here, don’t worry about it,” the Lord of the Mist replied with a carefree smile.

”Let’s go. We’re heading back to Star City.” With that, the Lord of the Mist rose into the air.

He glanced back at the churning blood sea in the sky before resolutely flying toward the horizon.

As they flew, the Lord of the Mist’s body began to tremble uncontrollably.

The blood sea was his life origin, and the bloodstones had all merged into it. By abandoning the blood sea, he had severed the foundation of his existence.

During the flight, he coughed up thin streams of qi blood, and his face aged visibly before their eyes.

Yet he didn’t stop, relying on the last reserves of his Qi and Blood Power to continue pushing forward.

”Now it’s my turn to protect you.”

Finally, they flew out of Old Day City.

By this point, the Lord of the Mist’s hair had turned completely white, and his face was covered in wrinkles.

No longer able to fly, he crashed onto a hillside with Feng Qi in his arms.

The Lord of the Mist landed heavily on the hillside’s overgrown grass. Trembling, he struggled to his feet and once again carried the motionless Feng Qi on his back.

Leaving a trail of bloody footprints with each step, he resolutely walked into the distance.

The setting sun seemed to foreshadow the end of the Lord of the Mist’s life.

Clinging to the Lord of the Mist’s back, Feng Qi’s heart was filled with sorrow.

He could feel that the Lord of the Mist was at the end of his strength.

This sense of helplessness made it hard for him to breathe.

They walked for an unknown length of time. As night fell, the Lord of the Mist collapsed to the ground with a thud.

Under the moonlight, using the last of his strength, the Lord of the Mist began to scratch in the dirt with a trembling hand.

”Feng Qi... this is the trajectory of the flesh cauldron... carry my dream... and continue to climb to the peak.”

”Go yourself!”

”Even if my life origin shatters, it might reassemble... But now that I’ve lost it... I can’t survive... Carry on for me... and witness the summit’s splendor.”

As he spoke, tears of blood streamed from the Lord of the Mist’s eyes.

Though once terrified of death, a sliver of solace now surfaced in his heart.

At least this time, he hadn’t retreated.

Feeling his life force rapidly draining, memories flooded his mind.

Having shouldered the future of the Mist Clan, his long and arduous journey had finally reached its end.

I’ve failed my clansmen’s expectations... I’m sorry...

Opening his eyes, he gazed at Feng Qi, his gaze brimming with hope.

”I’ve heard the summit’s view is breathtaking... truly boundless... free from sorrow and grief... Feng Qi...”

Before he could finish, his voice abruptly cut off.

The mysterious power that had once resurrected the Lord of the Mist from near-death failed to manifest this time. All hope remained submerged in the blood sea.

Feng Qi also fell unconscious at that moment.

Six months later.

Outside Old Day City, on Dragon Scale Slope.

Feng Qi sat before a tombstone, eating the offerings with a radiant smile.

”You Mist Clan are so strange. What kind of bizarre custom is it to eat the offerings to the dead? But last time you ate mine, so does this count as me getting even?”

”Do you think I’m a lone star of calamity, destined to bring misfortune to everyone around me? Even the Lord of the Mist, a dominant figure from 1,500 years in the future, was killed because of me in this Sacrifice Line...”

He continued talking to the tombstone, his mind flooded with memories as the wind and sand stung his eyes.

Half a year ago, after the Lord of the Mist brought him out of Old Day City, the scarlet squad, who had already arrived in the city, quickly located and rescued them both.

By the time Feng Qi regained consciousness, the Lord of the Mist, having lost his life source, had already perished, his body cold as ice.

Feng Qi’s condition was equally dire.

The Spirit Energy Clan had modified his body with no intention of letting him live.

His connection to the Demon Dragon Rune Crystal had been severed, effectively cutting off his life force.

The Scarlet Research Institute had explored countless ways to keep him alive.

One option was to implant a new rune crystal to prolong his life, but this method was far too risky.

His body had completely fused with the Demon Dragon Rune Crystal. Replacing it would cause a catastrophic clash between the two energy types, leaving him with less than a 1% chance of survival.

All other methods had also failed.

Currently, he relied on daily injections of gene needles from the Scarlet Research Institute to stay alive.

But by now, his body had developed immunity to the gene needles, and his life was nearing its end.

After swallowing the food in his mouth, Feng Qi stood up.

Before leaving, he had one final task to complete.

Over the years, with the Scarlet Research Institute’s assistance, he had absorbed vast quantities of fragmented mental power.

Everything had been for this day.

While this action might seem impulsive, he didn’t believe he was wrong.

The world often portrayed domain creatures as cruel, but he had witnessed many admirable qualities in the Lord of the Mist.

Even if everyone else condemned it, the Lord of the Mist had been kind to him.

He had to acknowledge that bond.

Now, he would bring closure to that connection.

Morning mist enveloped the hillside.

Gazing at the gray, swirling fog, he couldn’t tell whether it represented salvation or the abyss.

As his figure passed through the mist, a faint, crystalline light fell from the fog.

Outside Old Day City, Feng Qi stood at the city gate, his gaze fixed on the towering walls of Old Day City.

”When my spirit departs, take my head,” he instructed.

The captain of the scarlet squad standing behind him nodded solemnly. ”We’re ready.”

Feng Qi released his suppression of mental energy.

Instantly, cracks appeared on his skin, and his spiritual body erupted through the fissures, radiating brilliant light.

His physical body lasted only a moment before being completely shattered by the spiritual body.

Flesh and blood disintegrated, revealing a spiritual body pulsating with vibrant, multicolored energy.

He caught his falling head and tossed it to the scarlet squad member behind him.

Turning back to face Old Day City, his body abruptly levitated and soared into the sky.

He was going to retrieve the Miracle Bracelet.

It was the only gift the Lord of the Mist had ever given him, and their final farewell.

As Feng Qi’s spiritual body appeared above Old Day City, the terrifying surge of mental energy alerted all factions within the city.

They craned their necks upward, witnessing a dazzling, sun-like radiance of seven-colored light.
