Hijacking the Timeline

Star City.

Though night had fallen, Star City remained ablaze with lights.

The Lord of the Mist and Feng Qi, cloaked in dark robes, walked down the street leading to the ”Doomsday” bar.

Feng Qi was no stranger to this place.

It was here that the Lord of the Mist had first gathered intelligence, luring members of the Nightshadow Clan into his trap.

This successful infiltration had allowed him to penetrate the Nightshadow Clan’s inner circle and smoothly execute the subsequent plans for the Tiger Soul Research Institute.

Reaching the alleyway where their destination lay, Feng Qi stopped.

”I’ll wait for you here.”

”It won’t take long,” the Lord of the Mist replied, striding toward the neon sign at the alley’s dark end.

As Feng Qi watched the Lord of the Mist’s figure melt into the shadows, he stood his ground, patiently awaiting his return.

Before formally launching their crackdown on the Dark God Cult’s Star City branch, the Lord of the Mist had decided to take one final action.

In addition to the human forces already present in Star City, they were aware of a significant number of members from the Domain Weakling Alliance.

Their presence posed no threat to the Lord of the Mist’s plan to promote the Flesh and Blood Sacrifice.

In fact, it could even amplify its momentum.

As the Flesh and Blood Sacrifice spread throughout Star City, the domain creatures lurking within would inevitably come into contact with it, perhaps even attempting to cultivate it.

However, this timeline presented a unique situation.

In this timeline, the Lord of the Mist not only sought to promote the Flesh and Blood Sacrifice but also aimed to help him acquire the power of human faith.

Suppressing the Dark God Cult’s branch in Star City became particularly crucial at this juncture.

It was imperative to crush this faction before it could gain momentum.

After all, divine faith and heroic faith were fundamentally incompatible.

With control over most of Star City’s media, the Lord of the Mist found suppressing the Dark God Cult relatively straightforward.

But first, he needed to address a potential hidden threat.

According to the Lord of the Mist’s analysis, any suppression of the Dark God Cult’s Star City branch would inevitably alert its Domain Force backers, prompting a response.

Faced with an unknown power, the Domain Force behind the Dark God Cult would likely avoid direct confrontation.

Their best course of action would be to investigate the unknown enemy thoroughly.

Only after uncovering the enemy’s true nature could they decide whether to retreat or launch a preemptive strike.

Intelligence gathering became paramount.

For the Domain Force backing the Dark God Cult to gather intelligence within Star City, the ideal channel was the Domain Weakling Alliance.

The members of the Weakling Clan Alliance were a group of desperate individuals.

For the right price, they would risk their lives to conduct investigations.

Even if the target was the Tiger Soul Research Institute, they were willing to take the risk for the substantial reward.

The Lord of the Mist believed that if he were the force behind the Dark God Cult, he would never easily abandon the vast potential pool of believers within Star City. He would spare no expense to uncover which faction was targeting them.

Identifying the unknown enemy would also aid in future strategic planning.

This was undoubtedly a win-win situation.

The Domain Weakling Alliance, lurking within Star City, would inevitably become an obstacle to his plan to suppress the Dark God Cult.

Before launching his suppression campaign, he resolved to conduct a bloody demonstration of force against the Domain Weakling Alliance within Star City.

As the Lord of the Mist put it:

”In the domain world, the law of the jungle prevails. Might makes right. Appealing to virtue only leads to despair. Only brute force can instill fear and compel submission.”

Completely exterminating the Domain Weakling Races was impossible.

Like weeds, they were weak and insignificant yet remarkably resilient, proving difficult to eradicate entirely.

At this point, the only way to instill fear and cowardice in them was through one method.

The Lord of the Mist, his entire body shrouded in a black robe, arrived at the entrance of the Doomsday Bar.

He strode straight inside.

After walking more than ten meters down the dimly lit corridor, he stopped before an iron door.

Unlike his previous visit, this time he didn’t bother knocking.

He pressed his palm against the iron door, and a torrent of gray mist erupted from his hand, engulfing the metal.

The door, forged from an unknown metal, visibly melted away, revealing a burly, astonished man behind it.

Sensing the newcomer’s hostile intent, the gatekeeper, who stood over two meters tall, immediately retreated several steps.

Yet he didn’t initiate an attack.

Stepping through the melted gap in the iron door, the Lord of the Mist waved his hand at the retreating giant.

Gray mist surged forth, enveloping the man.

A piercing scream erupted.

In the blink of an eye, the gray mist devoured the giant, his qi blood completely absorbed into the black mist.

The scream drew the attention of the Domain Weakling Warriors inside the Doomsday Bar.

They all turned to stare at the entrance.

When they saw the Lord of the Mist, his entire body swirling with gray mist, their expressions turned to astonishment.

”Friend, what do you mean by this?” The seductive woman behind the bar spoke coldly.

”I’m here to inform you that I’m taking control of Star City from now on. If your alliance wants to survive, you must report every single mission to me, without exception.”

As he spoke, the Lord of the Mist raised his head, revealing a face shrouded in gray mist beneath his black robe.

A sinister grin stretched across the mist face, radiating overwhelming menace.

The newcomer clearly meant trouble. The seductive woman in charge of the alliance’s branch here wore a conflicted expression.

The other domain creatures in the bar bared their fangs, their faces twisted into savage grins.

They were all desperate outlaws.

How could they possibly submit meekly to mere threats? If they had been willing to surrender so easily, they would never have abandoned their clans to lurk in Star City, fighting for their clans’ future.

Yet no one dared to make the first move.

Each wanted to see someone else test the waters first. Anyone who stepped forward might meet an unknown end.

The seductive woman in charge of the branch spoke warily:

”Friend, which Domain Force do you represent? We keep to our own territories. There’s no need for this hostility.”

”You think you’re qualified to investigate my background? You’re not.”

As he spoke, the Lord of the Mist took a step forward, the gray mist expanding behind him to seal off all escape routes.

He glanced at the domain creatures in the bar, a mocking smile spreading across his mist face.

”Let’s play a game. I’m about to begin a massacre. Only one-third of you will survive. Now... struggle for your lives.”
