Hijacking the Timeline

In the Star City Database from 1500 years in the future, the monk was listed as a ”Human Spiritual Mentor,” who tirelessly promoted mental power and urged people to resist the Domain Invasion from a pragmatic perspective.

To achieve this goal, the monk voluntarily relinquished his position as group leader of the Prajna Domain Combat Team.

At the time, Feng Qi had been puzzled by the monk’s decision.

As the leader of the Prajna Battle Group, he could have continued leading his team on the front lines.

Why would he suddenly abandon his responsibilities to become a Human Spiritual Mentor?

But Feng Qi had never asked the monk about it.

After all, when he had revealed the truth to the monk, the latter hadn’t even graduated from school yet.

By the time the monk became a Spiritual Mentor, Feng Qi had likely been dead for countless years.

Looking back, the monk’s actions seemed remarkably aligned with his current goals:

To overthrow the Theory of Spiritual Belief and establish a reality-based hero worship centered on human heroes.

A possible explanation suddenly formed in his mind:

The Prajna Battle Group, led by the monk, primarily operated near the Old Days Supply Zone.

The Dark God Cult originated in and drew its main followers from Old Day City.

Perhaps during his command of the Prajna Battle Group, the monk had uncovered the Dark God Cult’s secrets but couldn’t reveal them to the world.

He feared the bloody truth would shatter humanity’s spiritual defenses.

Thus, he chose a different path to save humanity.

There were only two ways to defeat the Dark God Cult:

1. Directly crush the forces behind the cult. 2. Destroy humanity’s faith in the cult, rendering its schemes futile.

The first approach might have been limited by the Prajna Battle Group’s strength and the potential consequences for the world.

The second approach required people to abandon their faith in deities and embrace faith in reality.

Judging by the monk’s actions after stepping down as group leader, he had clearly chosen the second path.

Unlike him, however,

He sought to destroy faith in deities to gain more faith power for himself.

The monk’s actions were purely aimed at saving humanity, using them as tools to strengthen the Domain Force.

This explained the monk’s puzzling behavior documented in historical records.

Outsiders might dismiss the monk’s transformation, but Feng Qi knew better. Unless there was a profound purpose, the monk would never undertake such a thankless and arduous task.

The exact truth remained elusive, and this was merely a conjecture based on the available information.

At that moment, the Lord of the Mist interrupted his thoughts:

”Perhaps we should investigate the Dark God Cult more thoroughly. The information we have is limited, after all... But regardless, the Dark God Cult will undoubtedly be an enemy on your path to acquiring faith.”

Feng Qi nodded in agreement.

There were essentially two hypotheses regarding the Dark God Cult:

First, the cult operates without the backing of any Domain Force, its growth purely a matter of chance.

Second, a Domain Force is manipulating the cult to gather faith power, using it to shape the future.

The truth remained to be uncovered through further investigation.

As they discussed the Dark God Cult, time slipped away unnoticed.

The next day at noon, after finishing lunch, Feng Qi changed into casual clothes and left Tiger Soul Headquarters with the Lord of the Mist.

Their destination was the Dark God Cult’s branch in Star City’s Eastern District.

They had decided to personally investigate the matter, hoping to uncover the truth at the cult’s branch.

Several hours later, a Tiger Soul military vehicle pulled over to the roadside a kilometer from the Dark God Cult’s branch.

Feng Qi and the Lord of the Mist disembarked.

To maintain a low profile, they proceeded on foot.

Following the route to the Dark God Cult’s Star City branch, they walked for some time until the cult’s building came into view.

The Dark God Cult’s architecture was distinctive.

At the apex of the building, a crimson crystal of unknown material was embedded, refracting brilliant colors under the sunlight.

”Quite the flair,” the Lord of the Mist grinned.

”Is there anything unusual about that crystal?” Feng Qi asked.

”No spiritual energy fluctuations. It’s just an ordinary crystal from within the Domain Field, polished and shaped.”

Feng Qi nodded at the explanation.

Ascending the steps to the Dark God Cult’s building, they stepped inside.

Ahead lay a narrow corridor lined with murals on both sides.

There were eighteen murals in total, each depicting stages of the Dark God’s existence: his birth, creation of the world, creation of life, creation of humanity, dissemination of knowledge, and so on.

Further inside lay a lush garden of green grass, surrounded by flowers of various colors. At the center of the lawn stood eight statues with ferocious expressions.

Many devotees knelt before the statues, worshiping them with fervent devotion.

Feng Qi had already learned about the origins of these statues through his research.

According to the records, these eight statues represented the first-order deities personally created by the Dark God, known as the Eight Evil Gods.

Despite their ominous name, the Eight Evil Gods had never committed any evil deeds. Their true purpose was to maintain balance in the world, striving for a state of perfect equilibrium.

In fact, the Dark God Cult’s success in establishing and spreading its influence was largely due to its doctrines.

At least outwardly, the cult consistently promoted positive values, constantly reminding its followers to maintain a kind heart, face life with optimism, and so on.

This was precisely why the Dark God Cult had been able to expand unimpeded into other cities.

Had it been a cult with twisted ideologies, the Five Great Cities would never have provided fertile ground for its growth.

Feng Qi had reason to suspect that a conspiracy might be lurking behind this.

Just like the Flesh and Blood Sacrifice, which was cloaked in a dazzling facade and even hailed as a Super Cultivation Technique that would revolutionize human cultivation studies.

In reality, this Super Cultivation Technique was merely a tool for the Lord of the Mist to harvest the faith power of all humanity and numerous Domain Forces.

Perhaps the Dark God Cult was similarly being manipulated by a hidden group, who were extracting human faith power to fuel their own growth.

Filled with doubt, they continued along the marble path through the garden.

Emerging from the garden, their vision suddenly opened onto a vast, circular plaza paved with cobblestones. Dozens of believers knelt on the ground, prostrating themselves before a statue over ten meters tall at the center of the plaza.

The statue depicted the Dark God himself.

Seeing the Dark God’s statue in person, Feng Qi felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

It was as if he had seen it somewhere before.

As he studied the statue more closely, he suddenly remembered where he had seen it.

Though the statue’s features were slightly different, he recognized it nonetheless.

Isn’t this the same god worshipped by the Goat-Headed Demon?!
