Security personnel stationed outside the Core Zone received the alert instantly. They swiftly opened the Core Zone’s massive metal gate and charged inside.

They immediately spotted the Blue-skinned Assassin pursuing Feng Qi.

Without hesitation, they engaged the Blue-skinned Assassin.

Watching the Blue-skinned Assassin surrounded by security personnel, Feng Qi remained calm.

These security personnel, along with the researchers conducting experiments, were all under the control of the Nightshadow Clan, manipulated by the Lord of the Mist.

He had no reason to worry about complications.

Even if they weren’t being controlled, the sight of the Blue-skinned Assassin wouldn’t pose any real threat.

Just as he was about to strike, something unexpected occurred.

The surrounded Blue-skinned Assassin’s form suddenly began to blur, and the surrounding space twisted.

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, the assassin’s figure vanished from its spot.

Feng Qi was stunned by this sight.

This was the first time he had encountered a Blue-skinned Assassin capable of spatial jumps.

Thinking quickly, he rushed to the control console at the center of the Core Zone.

”Pull up the surveillance footage,” he said sternly to the operator at the console.

Without hesitation, the operator immediately brought up the most recent surveillance footage.

As Feng Qi had anticipated, the Blue-skinned Assassin was nowhere to be seen in the footage.

This left him deep in thought.

Despite multiple encounters, he had yet to uncover any intelligence about the Blue-skinned Assassins.

After seizing control of the Tiger Soul Research Institute, the Lord of the Mist initiated his own investigation into the Blue-skinned Assassins.

He uncovered numerous records of their past appearances, but remained clueless about the secrets behind these enigmatic assassins.

Across multiple timelines, he had only managed to glean a few rules governing their behavior:

1. Blue-skinned Assassins are not elemental beings. They possess flesh and blood bodies, yet lack any internal organs. Upon death, their bodies disintegrate into energy and dissipate.

2. These assassins appear to continuously receive external signals, suggesting they are special lifeforms controlled by an external force.

3. Blue-skinned Assassins are not robots. They exhibit emotions such as pain and surprise, but show no fear of death.

4. The timing of their appearances varies across different timelines.

5. The number of Blue-skinned Assassins is unpredictable, but their strength tier steadily increases over time.

Based on these factors, the Blue-skinned Assassins closely resemble monsters in a game. As the protagonist’s strength or progress increases, the monsters’ power also steadily grows.

However, our understanding of these unique life forms remains a mystery.

All we know is that these blue-skinned creatures are scouring the world for miracle items.

The miracle bloodstone currently controlled by the Lord of the Mist was seized by a battle group from the Old Day City East Supply Zone after they defeated a wounded Blue-skinned Assassin.

He had reason to believe that the entity controlling the Blue-skinned Assassins, or the assassins’ entire race, had already acquired several miracle items.

Therefore, the potential power of this faction was terrifying.

This was a hidden, terrifying opponent he had yet to uncover, and one that would inevitably obstruct humanity’s path to growth.

Frowning, he considered his role as part of the Sacrifice Line. His most crucial mission was to gather intelligence for the main timeline.

At the very least, he needed to help the main timeline understand exactly who their enemy was.

He resolved to discuss this thoroughly with the Lord of the Mist upon his return, then launch a full-scale investigation into the blue-skinned creatures.

Three in the morning.

A Tiger Soul Special Plane hovered over the mountainous terrain fifteen kilometers from Twilight City.

As the cabin door opened, the Lord of the Mist, wearing dark sunglasses, leaped directly into the air.

The Tiger Soul Special Plane immediately turned and began its return journey.

As he plummeted, gray mist surged beneath the Lord of the Mist’s feet, cushioning his descent.

He glanced back toward Twilight City.

In his view, the most crucial aspect of this operation was maintaining absolute secrecy.

Therefore, he had avoided landing the Tiger Soul Special Plane at the city’s airport.

The subsequent actions would be carried out by him alone.

Transforming into gray mist, he flew toward Twilight City.

Soon, the city, nestled amidst towering mountains, came into view.

As an auxiliary city of Old Day City, Twilight City lay in the mountains west of its parent metropolis.

Unlike the Five Great Cities, Twilight City lacked a long history or origins from the merger of neighboring settlements.

Its history spanned a mere two centuries.

Originally a dense forest, the area had been settled by fleeing scavengers and a small number of urban migrants who formed tribes, cleared the land, and established a small city.

The city was divided into four districts—East, South, West, and North—covering a total land area of 816 square kilometers.

Compared to other cities, Twilight City, as an auxiliary city, had a glaring weakness.

Its complex terrain left little habitable land, and its scarce resources limited its population to around six million, preventing further growth.

The city relied heavily on support from the Five Great Cities for all types of supplies.

When Twilight City was first established, all major cities contributed to its development, and research institutes built branch bases there to ensure its healthy growth.

However, the city’s challenging environment severely restricted its progress, making breakthroughs nearly impossible.

It could only exist as an auxiliary city to Old Day City.

Before dawn, the Lord of the Mist arrived above Twilight City.

From this vantage point, he clearly observed the city’s layout.

Perhaps due to scavengers’ innate sense of impending urban collapse, Twilight City was heavily fortified with combat fortresses and shelters.

These structures were clearly designed to withstand sudden Domain Field incursions.

Moreover, the city bristled with advanced technological weaponry, its internal defenses as formidable as its external ones.

Twilight City seemed purpose-built for war.

This was one of the advantages of being a smaller city.

For a massive city like Star City to construct a steel fortress comparable to Twilight City, the resources required would be unimaginable.

After flying over the towering city walls, the Lord of the Mist began his descent.

Scanning the area, he chose a dark corner devoid of light.

Unbeknownst to the Lord of the Mist,

the military department’s command center in Twilight City had already detected an anomalous energy signature approaching from the air.

Aerial defense was a standard measure employed by major cities to guard against incursions by Domain-Transcending Creatures.

As soon as the Lord of the Mist entered Twilight City, the military department urgently mobilized several nearby garrison units to converge on his landing site, preparing to conduct a thorough search.

Their objective was to determine whether the sudden surge of strange energy was connected to a Domain-Transcending Creature.

By this time, the Lord of the Mist had already landed in a dark alley shrouded in shadows.

Transforming into human form, he stepped out of the alley.

Just then, he noticed a large group of uniformed personnel rapidly converging nearby.

Sensing danger, he swiftly retreated back into the darkness, muttering under his breath:

”Damn it.”
