Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 281: Chapter 278: Great Evolution Stone Squad

The first two questions weren’t particularly difficult.

Baimu understood that the real challenge wouldn’t be with the first few; there were definitely more cunning questions awaiting him later.

Then the third question appeared.

[Gastrodon is divided into East Sea and West Sea variants, with different colors; how many colors do they have in total on their bodies? Please answer.]

...Huh?

How many colors?

Why don’t you ask how many bumps they have on their bodies?

He looked at the question speechlessly, and as if mocking him, Porygon conjured two black and white Gastrodon from the air, with slight differences in appearance.

He didn’t expect that by the third question, Dr. Akihabara would hit him with a Spiritual Shock.

But there was no choice, he still had to answer.

From memory, the colors on Gastrodon weren’t many; the East Sea had green on its back, yellow stripes and fin, and blue on the belly; the West Sea had brown on its back, yellow stripes, and pink on the belly.

So there were five in total—

Wait a minute.

Would the eyes and eye sockets also count as colors?

Baimu looked at Porygon, and Porygon looked back at him, eyes wide.

Remember that regardless of East Sea or West Sea, they all have three ”eye” shaped patterns, with black eye sockets and white pupils.

So it should be seven.

Baimu thought for a moment, felt confident about the possibility of seven, and wrote it down confidently.

No choice.

What can you do with these particularly tricky questions? Just grit your teeth and answer them.

Luckily, this question was answered correctly.

When a large green circle appeared, Baimu felt relieved, really curious if the prize was a Porygon, so he really wanted to clear it once.

The fourth question.

Baimu glanced at the question and felt like taking off his glasses.

He understood why there was a grumpy fellow earlier.

[Far in the Alola Region, there’s a powerful Dragon-type Pokémon called Turtonator. Its shell always has many holes, allowing its limbs to move freely, and its chest even has a hollow that can absorb explosive impact.]

[So, how many explosive spikes are on the Turtonator’s back?]

Baimu: ”...”

Look at this question, is it even human-made?

It talked about holes for so long, and then asked how many spikes are on the Turtonator’s back, being tricky, huh? What if its species mutated? What if it lost a spike in battle?

Unbelievable!

He didn’t even dare to imagine what the fifth question would be like, but could only search his memory desperately, finally settling on eight spikes, four big and four small.

The edges of the shell also count as spikes, but can’t trigger explosions, so they don’t count.

Wrote down eight.

Beep!

The large green circle was quite dazzling.

Although the question was disgusting, there had to be someone among the dozens who could answer four, so what kind of hellish fifth question defeated them?

The fifth question.

Also the last question.

[It’s well known that human intelligence, like that of Pokémon, can create miracles. Studies show that many Pokémon originate from human inventions. So, what is the name of the first modern artificial Pokémon?]

Modern? Magearna?

Just kidding.

It must be Porygon, after all, since Dr. Akihabara made the question, how could it possibly be Magearna.

He specifically mentioned modern. Magearna goes back five hundred years.

But seeing this question, Baimu sighed in relief while feeling pity for the previous contestants; this was purely unavoidable. The first modern artificial Pokémon.

No one knows the name.

Many Trainers aren’t even aware of artificial Pokémon, which is clear from the few entries of Porygon. Even when the answer was right in front of them.

Baimu glanced at the Building Block Duck-like smart UI Porygon and wrote down its name.

In an instant.

Countless fireworks burst open in front of Baimu, though silent due to no headphones, judging from Porygon’s expression, it seemed very surprised.

Even the real Dr. Akihabara was surprised.

”You answered it? You answered it!”

Baimu only felt his hands being grabbed, his body stiffening, then his blindfold was removed by Chansey, seeing Dr. Akihabara with tears streaming down his face.

Was the doctor this unsettled?

”Ahem... Doctor, I can recognize you, how rare is it to answer the question? It’s more like those who didn’t answer are purely because Porygon isn’t famous enough, you should promote it more!”

He coughed twice, speaking sincerely.

Dr. Akihabara’s tears flowed even more, ”Waaa... I’ve really tried hard to promote it, but always run into difficulties, making it impossible to popularize Porygon, it’s clearly a Pokémon of an epoch!”

Seems like the animation production team’s ban affected the Pokémon World?

Baimu silently mocked in his heart, then comforted, ”No need to get agitated, I believe eventually people will discover Porygon’s brilliance!”

”Exactly! That’s so true!”

Dr. Akihabara, disregarding the onlookers’ odd looks, shook his hand vigorously, ”Surely a Trainer like you is worth entrusting to!”

He wiped his tears and snot with a handkerchief and took out a Pokeball from his pocket, ”Here! Inside is the quiz prize! Porygon!”

So decisive!

Baimu hadn’t even reported his name yet, and Dr. Akihabara just handed over the Porygon.

Spatial hand indeed!

The long-desired spatial hand is here!

Though it’s a General Type weak to Fighting Attribute, equipping Porygon II with an Evolutionary Wondrous Stone makes it remarkably sturdy—

Eh?

Why is it another Pokémon requiring the Evolutionary Wondrous Stone?

Baimu suddenly felt his team becoming an Evolutionary Wondrous Stone team, and if he gathered three more, wouldn’t he become the Evolutionary Wondrous Stone Celestial King? Pokémon lacks nothing else, except having an Evolutionary Wondrous Stone on hand, otherwise, they can’t endure battles.

Thinking about it, it actually feels a bit exciting.

”Thank you.”

Baimu took the Pokeball with both hands, while Dr. Akihabara couldn’t wait to raise his right hand, ”The first Trainer to obtain the ultra-rare Pokémon has appeared! Who’s next?”

The onlookers were whispering immediately.

Some believed that the earlier ones were simply unlucky, while others thought Baimu was Dr. Akihabara’s inside man, given how familiar they seemed.

Ultimately, the spectators unanimously decided:

”Let the Pokémon out and have a look!”

”Let’s see what kind of Pokémon it is!”

”Yeah, yeah!”

Upon hearing this, with Dr. Akihabara’s somewhat excited nod of approval, Baimu released the Pokeball.

Boom!

A flash of white light.

A red and blue blocky Building Block Duck appeared on the ground, with eyes that looked dumbfounded, a bit like Psyduck.

The moment Porygon appeared, the crowd was in an uproar.

”What is that?”

”Is this a Pokémon or some kind of toy?”

”Hey! It’s moving, it’s moving!”

”You people are so ignorant; I know this Pokémon, it’s from the Kanto Region, right? It’s called... Porydog! Yes, Porydog!”

”The Illustrated Guide shows it! Listen! This guy is called Porygon! It’s a Pokémon that exists on the Illustrated Guide!”
