Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 280: Chapter 277: Computer Warrior

To be honest.

Baimu, at first glance, subconsciously thought this person was a fraud.

It’s not for no reason; tricks like these, where Pokémon prizes are given out for quizzes, have been overplayed by the Rocket Team trio, yet there are always fools who fall for it.

But after looking a bit more, he felt something was off.

This person didn’t approach someone in broad daylight and ask questions directly but instead had them wear something like VR glasses, entering a virtual environment to answer the questions.

More importantly, there was no entry fee required, nor was there any need to hand over Pokémon; just put on the VR glasses and answer the questions.

Those who failed to answer the questions showed no signs of being hypnotized, still laughing and chatting with their familiar friends, muttering things like ”what a pity.”

But what truly made Baimu realize that the person might not be a fraud was the appearance of the quiz organizer.

”Dr. Akihabara?”

He compared the person to the photo on his phone, confirming that it was indeed the inventor of the Pokémon transfer system, assuming it wasn’t someone in disguise.

In the animation version and games, especially in the special Chapters, a new professor was introduced to replace the original developer, due to the introduction of a Pokémon like Porygon.

No one expected the episode where Porygon appeared to have graphic issues, causing the [Porygon Incident], resulting in both Porygon and Dr. Akihabara being permanently banned, becoming tears of the times, never reappearing in official episodes again.

But why would a professor from Kanto show up here?

Baimu hesitated a bit, suddenly feeling excited in his heart; could the rare Pokémon mentioned by the other be Porygon?

He quietly started searching the internet for Porygon and found very few entries related to it, almost every appearance tied to Dr. Akihabara.

Why?

Because in the animation, Dr. Akihabara is the creator of Porygon, similar to the Pokémon transfer system.

And in most content, Dr. Akihabara was promoting Porygon, listing a whole bunch of Porygon’s benefits. Unfortunately, as an artificial Pokémon, its numbers affected its successful promotion.

Furthermore, many trainers expressed in interviews that they weren’t very interested in this suspicious Pokémon, not only because it didn’t look cute or clear on what moves it could learn, but also because they couldn’t accept it being artificial.

Basically, it seems only Pokémon collectors would choose to collect this rare Pokémon.

Upon seeing this, Baimu felt a bit indignant.

Is the Building Block Duck really that ugly? Though those fish-lifeless eyes do look quite creepy, the evolved dead duck Porygon II is undeniably cute!

He searched further on Porygon II and found even fewer entries. Dr. Akihabara had mentioned it, but even promoting Porygon hadn’t succeeded, let alone Porygon II...

Thus, if the other person isn’t impersonating, the prize is highly likely to be Porygon.

So how has no one managed to pass the quiz after all this time?

Baimu peeked inside, noticing that within a short period, many had gone up, and many had failed. Everyone initially felt enthusiastic, thinking others couldn’t, but they could.

But as time went on, dozens of people attempted the quiz without success, causing the crowd to become more and more uneasy.

Finally.

A fierce-looking teenage boy took off the VR glasses, cursed aloud, ”What a crappy quiz! It’s impossible to finish! You fraud!”

The crowd instantly became chaotic, with many who hadn’t finished the quiz chiming in.

”That’s right, a fraud!”

”Wasting our time!”

The crowd quickly dispersed, leaving only a few remaining on the spot. But they seemed like bystanders, curious about how the other party would end this.

And Dr. Akihabara, watching this scene, reached out to say something to win them back, but ultimately sighed and lowered his head.

Then, he raised his head and said:

”Is there anyone else who wants to participate?”

”Me.”

Seeing that no one around intended to respond, Baimu decided to give it a try himself, as it seemed unlikely this person was an impostor.

Dr. Akihabara was pleasantly surprised to see someone still willing to participate, ”Come on, come on! The questions are actually straightforward!”

”Alright, are you Dr. Akihabara?”

Baimu stepped forward, quietly asking as he approached.

Dr. Akihabara was startled, ”You recognize me?”

”As the inventor of the Pokémon transfer system, how could I not know you? But why are you here? And why organizing a prize quiz?”

He straightforwardly asked, staring into the other’s eyes.

Dr. Akihabara did not expect the young man before him to be probing him, scratching his head awkwardly, ”Ah, well, it’s a long story; I’m currently collaborating with the New Water Fleet.”

”Collaborating!?”

Baimu was taken aback, ”You’re collaborating with the New Water Fleet? On what? An ocean waste transfer device?”

”It’s complicated! Okay! Just answer the quiz first; we can talk after!” Dr. Akihabara urged frantically.

Seeing this, he exchanged a glance with Chansey, who nodded slightly to reassure him.

Feeling assured.

Baimu put on the VR glasses.

In an instant.

His vision suddenly darkened and then rapidly brightened, revealing a Porygon that looked as if it were built from blocks appearing before him.

It pulled in a huge dialogue box from the side, displaying the question.

[As a trainer, you definitely know that each region has many Bug-type Pokémon. So what is the evolution of this shadow Pokémon on the screen? Please write down your answer on the answer board.]

A shadow suddenly emerged from the left, striking various nimble poses.

Baimu carefully discerned it, noticing that the creature’s upper portion was round, resembling a sack at the bottom, and the edges revealed many tiny hairs, looking like some sort of fluff.

Very simple.

A giveaway question basically.

He raised his hand and wrote ”Vivillon” in the answer box below the dialogue box, judging from its appearance that it’s a Spewpa and asking about its evolution, which obviously is Vivillon.

Beep!

A large green circle suddenly appeared on the frame, and Porygon cheerfully shook its legs beside it, while the shadow disappeared.

Following closely was the second question.

[Still related to Bug-type Pokémon, as a Pokémon that likes to wrap itself in leaves, Burmy has diverse evolutions, please write out all possible Attributes it can gain upon evolution.]

Burmy, the Wormadam Pokémon. It has different evolutions based on gender, with females evolving into Wormadam, which changes according to the cloak. The Attributes can be Grass, Ground, and Steel.

Males evolve into Mothim, gaining a Flying Attribute compared to its pre-evolution.

So these are the four types.

Baimu swiftly wrote down the answers.

Beep!

[Congratulations, you passed the second question!]

A gigantic green circle filled Baimu’s line of sight.
