Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

After finishing the preparations before departure, the sky turned gray as Zhang Su and the Mountain and Sea Squad arrived at the parking lot. Shen Linrui and others had already been waiting impatiently.

“Sorry, everyone is so eager, fighting to go to the Mountain and Sea District; persuading them took quite some time! Here, let me introduce the Mountain and Sea Squad that will collaborate with you this time!

The captain is Duan Wuhu, strong in limbs and agile in mind, main combatants include Zhao Dezhu and Lu Yubo, they are the reputed combat strength of the Yama Corps, technician Wu Lue is responsible for setting up communication equipment and drone operations!”

Zhang Su stepped forward and directly introduced the situation.

“Mountain and Sea… King Yama is thoughtful.”

Shen Linrui naturally assumed the name was given by Zhang Su and solemnly thanked him.

“I’m not that cultured; this was Captain Duan’s idea!”

Zhang Su didn’t claim unnecessary credit, then pointed to the prepared vehicles and said, “Tanks are definitely the best transportation, but unfortunately there isn’t enough fuel, so we’ve picked these off-road cars which should meet the needs of this mission. Don’t waste time on simple obstacles!”

“Thanks, King Yama, we won’t delay, hope to see you again.”

Shen Linrui was eager to return and after exchanging pleasantries, jumped into the driver’s seat of the H9, with the other three being the “Cannon,” Prado, and a high-powered Pajero.

“Um, just a moment…”

Yu Qing emerged from the crowd, smiled apologetically at Zhang Su, and quickly ran over to Zhao Dezhu, considerately saying, “Be careful outside, here are some packs of cigarettes, some emergency supplies, and compressed food, keep them with you.”

The supplies received by the Mountain and Sea Squad were all the same, but if it’s a heartfelt gift from one’s own wife, that’s a different matter, and no one could say anything.

“Look at Da Zhuzhi’s treatment, sigh, so enviable…”

Wu Lue was teasing with Lu Yubo when he saw another girl running over.

Mo Qianlan came up to Lu Yubo with her head down, handing over a small package: “I’ve prepared some food for you, keep it, don’t be reckless outside, make sure to listen to Teacher Duan, okay?”

Lu Yubo was thrilled and nodded eagerly.

Wu Lue exaggeratedly gestured a middle finger, then opened his arms to Duan Wuhu with a tearful face: “Teacher Duan, just us two pitiful single dogs, let’s hug and cry.”

“Hehe, no need, Weijun came to see me off…”

Duan Wuhu smiled apologetically, seeing Fu Weijun pushing a wheelchair over, he went over to meet him.

“Oh my God… Sister Xue, ah, my dearest Sister Xue, it’s gotta be you.”

Everyone had someone seeing them off, making Wu Lue feel particularly forlorn, fortunately, Zhao Xue approached him.

“Wulue, make sure to come back safely, our Yi Rewen group of three can’t allow any missing members!”

Zhao Xue smiled as she stuffed some food and cigarettes into Wu Lue’s bag.

Seeing this scene, Shen Linrui and others felt mixed emotions; farewells between lovers and friends always make people sentimental, yet thinking of their own experiences makes it even more heartbreaking…

If it stopped there, it would be bearable, yet the real hit came just then.

Good Fortune trotted to the parking lot with a small basket, placed it on the ground, and barked at Shen Linrui.

Shen Linrui looked puzzled at Good Fortune, then at the basket, which contained some snacks.

“Haha, this should be Good Fortune’s gift to Flash, they’re all nuts.”

Zhang Su saw it clearly, almonds, pecans, and pistachios, it didn’t look like they were for Shen Linrui; he hadn’t thought of sending small gifts to build connections, but Good Fortune had done it for him.

Flash poked its little head out from Shen Linrui’s pocket, hearing Zhang Su’s words, and jumped out, standing on Shen Linrui’s thigh, looked at Good Fortune and the basket, then quickly jumped to the ground, and walked to the basket.

Zhang Su slightly lifted the corners of his mouth, he noticed that although Flash considered Shen Linrui its master, it didn’t ask for approval in everything, unlike Good Fortune, which would definitely consult him first.

“Woof woof.”

Seeing Flash approach, Good Fortune barked twice and pushed the basket towards it, the meaning was clear.

“Haha, Flash, you and Good Fortune are like old friends who fought before knowing each other, take these gifts, snack on the way.”

Seeing Flash hesitate, Zhang Su began to persuade.

Flash’s bright little eyes turned, looked at Good Fortune, then at Zhang Su, ran two circles in place, rushed in front of Good Fortune, hugged its nose as if apologizing for the harm caused to it.

“That’s right, you creatures are rarer than humans now, don’t fight, get along well, take the good food, go.”

Zhang Su squatted down, naturally patted Flash’s head, surprisingly, the little mouse didn’t resist, a good sign.

Shen Linrui and other members of Dragon Head Camp exchanged glances, showing extremely complex expressions, unable to compare to humans is one thing, but not even to animals, saying more would just bring tears…

A few minutes later, four cars slowly left the camp, Yama Corps members saw them off at the mountain gate.

The road down the mountain, including the area around the camp, had been cleared.

“Hubby, do you think they’ll be okay?”

Zheng Xinyu watched the taillights disappear at the end of the winding mountain road, nervously asking Zhang Su.

“Sigh.” Exhaling a puff of white mist, Zhang Su looked at Zheng Xinyu, seriously asked: “What do you think?”

“I feel… I feel our people will be just fine, because Bozai and the others are going with good intentions to help, even if anything unexpected happens, it should be the people at Dragon Head Camp who bear it!”

Zheng Xinyu said firmly, nodding her head, as if reinforcing her own belief.

Zhang Su was very satisfied with this answer, patted Zheng Xinyu’s head: “Your feeling is spot on.”

“Let’s go everyone, we’ve got work to do.”

Shen Linrui and the others had left, as did Duan Wuhu, Lu Yubo, Zhao Dezhu, and Wu Lue, but the scarred camp still needed tidying.

“Hey, Brother Su, tell me, if Shen Linrui and his group hadn’t come here, wouldn’t things be much better now?”

Qi Xiaoshuai asked somewhat resentfully.

Yuwen heard this and showed a cryptic smile: “Our current certainty determines the future, but our present is determined by the certainty of the past. Even if you go back a moment, you’ll repeat again and again, with no change!”

Walking beside Yuwen, when others heard this convoluted statement, they were dumbfounded.

“Old Yu, reading what kind of book lately? Coming up with such profound stuff, can you speak plainly?”

Zhang Su was amused.

“Plainly speaking… there’s destiny at work, everything is set; Dragon Head Camp is destined to suffer this catastrophe!” Yuwen smiled bitterly, shaking his head: “I used to worry about this force posing a threat to us, but it did have a significant impact, destiny indeed.”

Because of that explosion, Dragon Head Camp was wiped out, but it also directly opened the gates for Beyond the Pass and Bound… while reducing human competition, we still need to face attacks from different entities.

“From a rational perspective, facing fifty thousand zombies is better than being enemies with a few hundred people at the camp, but emotionally, having more people is a better situation…”

Zhang Su reflected, peaceful coexistence and collective progress, the more people, the better, since there are only so many humans left on this planet and reproduction remains a concern.

“Alright, enough dwelling on this, a mountain of work awaits us, let’s get busy!”

The camp was supposed to enter a period of rapid development, but a blast a few kilometers away halted the progress.

As Yuwen said, things judged just by their surface seem easy to determine as good or bad, but a deeper look reveals quite different results.

Seven or eight forces like the Survivor Alliance and Civilization Guardian have merged. Short-term integration struggles to achieve genuine harmony.

Currently, there is no displayed friction because there’s a stronger Zhang Su and the Yama Corps controlling things from above. If individual small groups aren’t thoroughly broken before entering the rapid development phase, it could escalate into factionalism, which is a real issue.

But now a fittingly sized disaster reached the camp, everyone experiencing hardship together, coupled with the Yama Corps’ deliberate dismantling, the shockwave shattered not only buildings but also the invisible barriers between forces.

Everyone forgot their former identities, worked hand in hand in rescue, strengthened mutual acceptance, forgot past identities, and reinforced new identities, which from a long-term perspective is a very positive trend.
