Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

Chapter 756: Chapter 627: Earth-Shattering

Back at Little Lucky, Zhang Su stood in the yard, listening to the noise from the rooms. His expression was peculiar, as Zheng Xinyu was chatting with Program No. 1, gossiping about celebrity scandals—who cheated, who came out—all trivial matters…

Hoo.

Zhang Su pushed open the restaurant door, seeing Shen Linrui and a few others sitting in the restaurant with worried faces, while Lu Yubo and Pan Guoliang were laughing and discussing something off to the side.

“Brother Su!”

“Good man, brother.”

Seeing Zhang Su enter the room, both Lu Yubo and Pan Guoliang immediately stood up.

“Go rest, we’ll eat soon.”

Zhang Su patted their shoulders and then walked straight to Shen Linrui and the others, placing a crumpled cigarette pack from his pocket onto the table and sat down, saying, “Do you know Sun Yingu?”

??

Shen Linrui and the others looked puzzled.

“Sun Yingu is part of our camp’s garrison. Is King Yama familiar with this person?”

Shen Linrui asked in confusion, taking a pack of cigarettes from his pocket.

Zhang Su saw the usual expression on his face and smiled strangely, saying, “It seems you don’t know that someone has run from the camp?”

“Ah?”

They all exclaimed in surprise.

“This morning, I took some brothers to the southern railway bridge…”

Zhang Su briefly recounted the morning events, observing their expressions, confirming they knew nothing.

After listening, Shen Linrui and the others exchanged glances, their faces filled with dry disbelief.

“This… I’m ashamed before King Yama. We truly didn’t know about the Zhanglin Dam people fleeing last night. Dragon Head announced we’d defend the camp to death last night. They surely knew how dangerous the corpse horde Beyond the Pass was, so… alas, I didn’t expect such poor cohesion at our camp.”

Shen Linrui was somewhat frustrated, pounding the wooden table with a thud.

“All this is normal, hard to prevent entirely. Come, tell me about the Dragon Head Camp in detail. I hope you don’t hold anything back. If anything seems off, the rescue is off the table.”

Zhang Su raised a hand, gesturing for him to speak.

“Don’t worry, King Yama, I’ll leave nothing unsaid.”

Shen Linrui adjusted his posture, just about to speak when suddenly—

Rumble…

A distant rumbling echoed like rolling thunder, as though tectonic plates were colliding, and with the sound, the ground began shaking. Tables, chairs, and the cups on the table trembled.

“An earthquake!”

Zhang Su cried in shock, abruptly rising and sprinting for the door.

The inns on Celestial Horse Island weren’t tall but were built on a mountain. Who knows if they were earthquake-proof when constructed, many being semi-wooden structures; if they collapsed, it would be hard to avoid serious injury.

Shen Linrui and his five comrades, elite reconnaissance personnel, followed close behind, running from the restaurant, faces serious.

The shaking hadn’t stopped, the rumble continued, as if a giant deity was beating drums from afar. The heavy sound struck at their hearts.

“Ah… What’s happening…”

“Is it really an earthquake?”

Zheng Xinyu and Zhong Xiaoshan jumped down to the yard from upstairs.

“Big brother, what the heck is going on!?”

Zhao Dezhu leapt out from the second-floor window, landing and rolling seamlessly, sitting firmly on the ground.

“Brother Su, what’s wrong?”

“Is it an earthquake?”

Some people smoking and chatting outside flooded into the yard to inquire, but who knew?

The ground’s shaking made it difficult for anyone in the yard to stand steadily. Everyone swayed, grabbing stone tables and stools, some holding onto each other.

Zhang Su stood firmly as if rooted to the ground, lifting his head to the east, where the sky was tinged with a strange purple light!

Purple aura in the east signifies auspiciousness, but witnessing purple light in such circumstances made Zhang Su feel chills all over.

“No, this is bad…”

He murmured, his hands trembling slightly.

Zheng Xinyu rushed to Zhang Su, grabbing his hand. Her face was pale; she’d never seen Zhang Su so terrified.

At this moment, the quake ceased, but people hadn’t regained their balance. Many still needed support to stand.

“It’s coming, it’s about to arrive. Everybody, get inside and hide. Hurry!”

Zhang Su shouted to those in Little Lucky’s yard, then approached the stunned Zhong Xiaoshan, patting her shoulder and taking out a walkie-talkie.

“Everyone, find secure places in your buildings to hide! Notify the people downhill; find wall corners, go to the cellar!”

As he spoke, Little Lucky’s crowd quickly returned indoors. Zhang Su switched several frequency channels and kept issuing warnings.

Good Fortune responded quickest, roaming near the mountain foot. The tremor startled it furiously, and afterward, sensing danger, it immediately sought a safe place to hide without any prompt…

King Yama’s voice was unprecedentedly urgent; no one dared be negligent. In mere moments, everyone on Celestial Horse Island hurriedly found shelter.

Fortunately, the inns were built together; people were nearby and could reach safety within ten seconds.

“Master Ding, hurry, leave this alone!”

Ju Mumio received the news and immediately shouted to Ding Yong Country, who was compressing steel.

“I can’t; the temperature’s just right now. Wait…”

“No time, hurry, there’s danger!”

Ju Mumio seized Ding Yong Country’s tools and tossed them aside, dragging him toward Wangshan Inn!

“What’s going on?”

Duan Wuhu pushed Fu Weijun’s wheelchair, running.

“Explosion… ouch…”

Fu Weijun was about to speak but was jostled almost onto the ground, quickly grabbing the handle, afraid to move…

The response and execution speed at Celestial Horse Island were unparalleled. Within thirty seconds, everyone was sheltered, but the situation downhill was grim. Fewer villagers had walkie-talkies; notifications couldn’t cover them all, only about a quarter entered shelters.

“What’s happening?”

“Not sure…”

“Squat down, like Brother Su does.”

In Little Lucky Restaurant, Zhang Su led everyone to squat, backs against a load-bearing wall, also instructing those with hard hats to wear them. Everyone was discussing, eyes full of confusion.

Zhang Su checked the time, placing hands on Zheng Xinyu and Zhong Xiaoshan’s backs, saying, “It’s almost here.”

Finished, he gave Shen Linrui and the others a strange look.

Within five seconds of his words, a peculiar sound echoed from the east. Before anyone could react, bam—a heavy blow struck the building; they could feel the wall behind them shake.

Bang! Bang!

Amid the roaring gale, glass shattered. Luckily, Little Lucky Restaurant’s windows were sheltered from the wind. Just as they were relieved…

Bam!

The restaurant’s closed door was violently blown open. Rocks, debris, and twigs furiously rushed in, crashing onto tables and chairs. Windows glass held for only two seconds before shattering, disappearing into the wind, and landing somewhere with a distant crash.

Everyone watched as the wind swept through the restaurant, leaving them dumbfounded. Soon, even watching wasn’t an option because the power went out!

In the darkness, the wind felt close as a chilling force like an army of spirits, chilling everyone’s hearts.
