Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

”Cough, cough, idle people are not allowed to cause trouble!”

Zhang Su controlled the scene and then spoke loudly to the crowd: ”Zhao Dezhu’s movements just now were very standard. Everyone saw it clearly, right? During his demonstration, I timed it. Within ten seconds, he flipped it seven times. The male standard is five times in ten seconds, and for females, it’s three times!”

”Ah, that’s too difficult. He’s a big brother in the Yama Corps. How can we compare?”

”Oh my God, three times. I think even once is hard. What should I do?”

”It’s not as serious as you say!” Wu Daqiang saw many companions around him complaining loudly and said, ”This tire is thinner than the one I used to train with in the army. That one was over 400 pounds, I could flip it three times in ten seconds. This one is at most 350 pounds. Five times is definitely not difficult. Everyone, don’t lose heart!”

Wu Baokang chimed in: ”Old Wu is right, the standard is the standard. If you can’t meet it, train hard in the Reserve Corps. Why squeeze into the Elite Corps and be a burden!”

”Don’t say that, we also want to improve.”

”Yeah, yeah, give us a chance. We will work hard.”

It was clear that Wu Daqiang and Wu Baokang’s words could not make everyone agree; they just felt that these two were talking without consideration.

Clap, clap.

”Quiet!”

Zhang Su clapped his hands and said, ”Have you forgotten what we’re doing? This is a test selection, not a company team-building! Line up, hurry up, don’t dawdle on the last test item. Let me be clear in advance, if you haven’t flipped one in three seconds, get lost directly, don’t waste time!”

Once these words were said, everyone focused their thoughts—yes, this is a test selection, not a joke.

The speed of lining up was very fast, as per Zhang Su’s requirements. Those familiar with tire flipping stood at the front. Nowadays, almost no one was hiding their skills. Wu Daqiang volunteered to lead, sincerely hoping more people would pass the test.

Flipping tires was a routine training item in the army, and once he started, he showed off his formidable strength, quickly flipping six tires amidst heavy breathing.

Following him were soldiers from the Barracks Branch. Dazhuang entered the stage, adept at strength. Flipping tires was easy for him; he completed six and a half in ten seconds, outperforming Wu Daqiang, putting pressure on the Yama Corps.

Wu Baokang, Luo Yongzhan, Liu Yao, and other elites with excellent combat capabilities stepped forward, thinking everything would go smoothly, but it didn’t go as expected...

Liu Yao actually failed; the time ended when he was just a bit short of flipping the last tire upright. Unfortunately, he ultimately did not complete it. Although he met the standard in the first two items and was stable in the Elite Corps, being a former leader of a faction made him feel flushed.

Furious, Liu Yao kicked the tire, but the hard tire immediately turned red-hot upon impact. He endured the pain, pretending to be unaffected as he returned to the crowd...

Then another surprisingly failed, it was Knight of Light Fan Dahai. His performance in the first two items was outstanding, generally leading, but he fell short in tire flipping, only managing three flips in ten seconds. His face was red when he couldn’t flip the fourth tire. Upper body strength was his absolute weakness.

Several people following him failed one by one, until fruit seller Zhang Xin stepped up. Even before the disaster, he had been transporting fruits for a long time, with very strong arms, coupled with recent months of training, he smoothly passed the test.

One after another, the speed of progress was rapid, but unfortunately, after more than forty confident people, the pass rate was extremely low!

In the end, out of 130 male members, only 32 met the standard. This result made Zhang Su freeze for a moment when he saw the notebook, involuntarily shouting...

Hearing the outcome made Wu Daqiang, who had previously boosted morale, feel deflated...

Unlike competitive sports in peacetime, even when they won while upholding the friendship-first principle, they could internally mock their opponents. Seeing so many people failing to meet the standard, the qualified members felt pressure and helplessness.

Everyone was comrades, facing zombies together; if others lacked strength, they’d give more effort. At this time, people wished everyone had King Yama’s strength!

Female members fared worse; only three met the standard, even Ma Xueyan, who breezed through the first two items, failed. Instead, the three women who often did farm work passed the test.

Fan Dahai and Ma Xueyan exchanged bitter smiles, both were champions of their respective gender groups’ first test. In the second test, in terms of reaching height alone, Fan Dahai slightly surpassed Xie Guangfa, being twenty centimeters taller—a significant advantage, while Ma Xueyan remained the champion.

Once it came to the third round of testing, both fell short, as if it was a unique fate.

Su Xiaoya squatted dejectedly in the crowd, failing all three tests, pouting unhappily, comforted by an older sister.

There were dazzling fighters, after three rounds of testing, everyone’s focus was on one person, Wang Guangjun with only half a face left!

From the beginning, Wang Guangjun attracted attention because of his rather grim appearance, but in the apocalypse, who didn’t bear some scars? People merely felt sorry for his tragic experience, without looking at him with strange eyes, but now people’s gazes bore an unusual color...

Silent and reserved, Wang Guangjun rarely talked to people, with the most heard being his scolding Wang Zhetao, showing no signs or giving away secrets. When he flipped the tire for the fifth time and passed the third test, some suddenly realized, this skinny middle-aged man seemed to have passed all three tests?

One person seriously verified with Yuwen, and after receiving a positive response, shared the answer with everyone, putting strange expressions on their faces.

In the apocalypse, whether possessing unique skills or high combat power, as long as one is outstanding, they will earn respect. Those who felt Wang Family benefited from connections while living in the mountains were reconciled.

Others reconciled, yet Wang Guangjun was blocked, for Wang Zhetao failed all three items miserably!

The first test placed him second to last in the group, not passing due to reaching about a palm away, while tire flipping, he shamelessly lasted ten seconds, causing smoke from the sole of his shoe as he furiously pedaled, failing to flip even one, infuriating him to the point of spitting blood.

Wang Zhetao himself knew that today was truly embarrassing, just like Su Xiaoya, squatting with his head buried low. Unfortunately, there were no ants on the ground to distract him.

”Look at your standard, huh!”

Zhang Su stood with a dark face in front of the crowd, holding a record list!

The first two tests confirmed that human physical fitness was gradually improving, but the third item was truly disappointing; skill enhancement was not keeping pace with strengthening physical fitness. Basic projects were fine, but when coordination was needed, it just didn’t work.

No one spoke, most were embarrassed, fortunate Zhang Su wore sunglasses, otherwise the scene would be colder.

”It’s been almost five months, during this time, what have you been doing? Danger is everywhere, and you don’t practice? Every day, thinking of what, eating, drinking, playing, sleeping? Huh? Some people are addicted to gaming, damn it, I’m tired of naming them, think about it yourself!”

A test is like a retreat, revealing who is swimming naked became apparent, some who entered the elite troops through connections to enjoy benefits felt deeply ashamed.

”Combat personnel in the camp don’t need to be busy; your duty is to strengthen yourself to resist external threats, kill zombies, nip threats at the bud! With your current standard, can you eliminate threats? Or wait to be eliminated by threats?”

Zhang Su became increasingly angry, walked to the tire, bent over, and hooked the bottom with one hand, shouting angrily: ”Flipping a tire, how many big men can’t even flip one? Playing around!”

As his words fell, everyone saw veins bulging on Zhang Su’s forehead as the tire flew up seemingly defying gravity, smoothly spinning 360 degrees in the air, then thudding heavily on the ground with a resounding thump, kicking up a cloud of dust.

If King Yama had shown such skills before the test began, it would surely have gotten applause, but now...

*Gulp.*

Many were shocked into swallowing, reflexively stepping back, accidentally stepping on the feet of the person behind.

The logistics personnel watching exploded into a uproar!

One-handedly spinning several hundred-pound tires in the air?

Wu Baokang looked towards Wu Daqiang, full of doubt as if asking, is this human?

”Benefits are not to be enjoyed freely, require effort, require a price, you...”

”Brother Su, Brother Su, there’s a situation up north!”

Just then, the Yama Corps members’ walkie-talkies sounded, with Zhang Ya’s voice coming through.
