Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

”No, no, I’m sorry, Brother Su, I spoke out of turn.”

Zhou Haotian’s little face turned pale with pain, and he kept apologizing.

Zhang Su shook his head with a smile, not minding at all. Zhou Haotian was right; this little intrigue was transparent to clever people.

”I have something to say.”

Ju Mumio glanced at Zhang Su, then at Good Fortune on the ground.

”Hmm? Go ahead.”

Zhang Su was puzzled; he had never seen Ju Mumio speak up in public before. This was the first time.

”Good Fortune, I know you’re smart, and you should be aware that you’re not a match for Flash, because it hasn’t trained with us.”

Ju Mumio looked at Good Fortune and said, ”Maybe it has its own opportunities, but setting that aside, in a fight between you two, you are at a disadvantage.”

Good Fortune rolled its eyes at Ju Mumio, letting out a long sigh as if to say, you’re right.

Seeing Good Fortune a bit dejected, Ju Mumio encouraged, ”You have your own strengths. You might be at a disadvantage against it, but when facing zombies, it’s different. Everyone has their strengths, don’t be disheartened.”

”Ugh...” Good Fortune responded weakly.

”Why look so dejected? Theoretically, you can’t win, but practically you’ve won once. From now on, work hard, got it?”

Zhang Su’s tolerance for Good Fortune was unparalleled; if it were someone else, they would have been reprimanded long ago.

”Woof!”

Sensing its master’s expectations, Good Fortune barked energetically in response, deciding to work hard in the future.

Previously, without competitors, it could take it easy. Now that a contender appeared, it had to put in effort!

Lu Yubo’s eyes lit up with joy as he said, ”Brother Su, Flash is only close to Shen Linrui. If Shen Linrui were to die, couldn’t it recognize you as its master?”

He had such a straightforward approach, without beating around the bush.

”Tsk...” Zhang Su was amused and exasperated. ”Bozai, don’t come up with such bad ideas.”

Regardless of whether Lu Yubo’s method would work, if word got out, it would ruin reputations!

Killing zombies relied on force and weapons, but ruling over survivors wasn’t that simple and brutal.

Yuwen hung his mouth corners, casting an inexplicable glance at Tan Huajun, as if to say, your future son-in-law has such a simple mind...

”Uh... I have something to say again.”

Zhou Haotian timidly raised his hand, pulling both legs onto the chair and hugging his knees to avoid having his toes stepped on by Ju Mumio.

”Go ahead.”

”I feel that Brother Bo’s method might not be impractical, but, wait, listen to me... I mean, we can take a relatively gentle approach. Look, Shen Linrui and the others, to put it bluntly, are like stray dogs now. They need a lot of things in the future, so we can propose a deal with them...

Or, um, from now on, start communicating emotionally with Flash, intentionally or unintentionally, slowly fostering a relationship until the timing is right, and everything will fall into place!”

”Ahem.”

Zhang Su waved his hand, saying, ”There’s no rush with Flash’s matter. It’s an intelligent animal, you could even say a person in hamster form. It’s about willingness. Let’s instead discuss the candidates for the Mountain and Sea District. Now, if you feel confident, raise your hand!”

Suddenly realizing the discussion was off-track, he forcibly redirected it.

”I, I want to train!”

After all the questions were asked and things said, when it came time for actual declarations, Lu Yubo quickly raised his hand.

”Good, we have Bozai! Right, we need to ensure smooth communication along the way, Luezi, you’re up!”

Zhang Su pointed to Wu Lue, who was idly sitting in a corner.

Wu Lue was dumbfounded, never expecting to be named.

”Huh? Me? Brother Su, I...”

”What the heck, it’s you. Bring back those military devices from the barracks and ensure communications, also take drones. They’ll be useful whether encountering zombies or scouting a zombie horde!”

Zhang Su waved his hand, interrupting Wu Lue’s excuse.

”But the camp’s surveillance wires are broken and need to be relaid, and there’s the relay station with West Camp Village. There’s a lot of work waiting for me!”

Wu Lue continued trying to argue to stay behind.

”Luezi, whether it’s the mountain or the village, someone from the village can do these jobs. But there’s no one around I trust and who knows these things other than you, so go. Bozai will keep you safe.”

”Exactly, bro’s got your back!”

Seeing Wu Lue with a sour face, Lu Yubo laughed particularly happily. He used to always hide under Zhang Su’s wing; now finally, he can protect others.

”Alright, I’ll go...”

With the conversation at this point, Wu Lue stopped arguing, resignedly sitting in a corner.

”Count me in.”

A cool voice rang out.

Everyone looked towards Zhao Xue, her face determined, hand raised.

”Xiaoxue... you’re going?” Zhang Su didn’t expect Zhao Xue to volunteer.

It surprised everyone, especially Zheng Xinyu and Zhong Xiaoshan, who felt a bit conflicted upon seeing Zhao Xue volunteer. Should they also take the initiative?

Zhao Xue took a deep breath, tilting her head towards Wu Lue, saying, ”He’s called me Sister Xue for a year. I have an obligation to take care of my brother. Brother Su, I’ve improved a lot lately, won’t you trust me?”

”Improved a lot” wasn’t something said lightly. After Zhao Xue finished speaking, at least five or six people nodded instinctively.

Her persistence and effort during training were visible to everyone, and she did have some talent. While training in Ju’s Martial Arts, she remained the longest among the female members, with her combat power improving rapidly.

There hadn’t been an official contest among the female members. Ju Mumio was undoubtedly first, without dispute. The second spot also had little debate, with Sister Pang, Tan Huajun, taking it directly. As for third place, it was more contested.

Zhang Ya, Zheng Xinyu, and Zhao Xue all had a shot!

”Sister Xue, you’ll always be my sister,” Wu Lue was deeply touched.

”No.”

”Ah...”

Zhang Su’s simple ”no” left Wu Lue at a loss.

”To clarify, this mission isn’t suitable for female members, except for her.”

Zhang Su seriously pointed at Ju Mumio.

Ju Mumio looked displeased at Zhang Su’s finger directed at her.

”Yeah, exactly, no little girls involved. Big brother, count me in!”

Zhao Dezhu stood up, patting his chest, then his expression froze. ”Me, Brother Xiaolu, Xiaowu, ah, none of us have good brains. Big brother, you need to assign us a brain!”

Pfft...

Apart from the people involved, everyone else couldn’t help but chuckle.

”What? Zhuzi, just admit it if your brain doesn’t work well. Why include me?”

”Exactly, acting crazy!”

”Cut it out, get serious!” Zhang Su calmed everyone down with a hand gesture. ”Zhuzi, pairing you with Bozai, the combat strength is enough. You do need someone in charge, though, hmm...”

Zhang Su fell into thought. No one else spoke up. Even those who wanted to go couldn’t raise their hands, because doing so implied they were smarter than the other three. Not good. They could only wait for Zhang Su to appoint someone.

His gaze swept over each companion’s face, making mental calculations, when suddenly someone caught his eye.

”Teacher Duan!”

Zhang Su’s gaze fell on Duan Wuhu, leaning by the door.

Everyone turned to look at Duan Wuhu, their expressions varied.

As a member of the Yama Corps, Duan Wuhu was undoubtedly the least involved in missions. Daily, he mainly took care of Fu Weijun and busied himself at Cui Leng Pavilion, with low presence.

No one expected it to be him!
