Chapter 1134: Chapter 717: The Third Uncle’s Misunderstanding About Greeting

As a top soldier before the end of the world, Xu Chengcai had a very strong sense of counter-surveillance.

Even before reaching the construction site around the Third Outer City, he had thought of all possible scenarios and had considered where to retreat if discovered.

But to his surprise, after looking around the vicinity for half a day without noticing any abnormality, a drone suddenly appeared.

This made Xu Chengcai feel a bit frustrated.

He didn’t shoot down the drone because he knew that if he did so, he might never be able to join this base again.

It’s not that he couldn’t bring it down, he just wanted to leave a way out.

At this moment, he carried Xiao Yong, still running at a rapid pace.

Xiao Yong weighed no more than fifty pounds, which was insignificant to him; during missions in the past, he had to carry at least 30 to 40 kilograms of weapons and survival supplies.

Originally, there was a hundred-meter gap between him and Luo’s group, and after Luo received the message from Li Tie and reacted, Xu Chengcai carrying Xiao Yong had already run out one hundred and fifty meters.

Now, after Luo and his team burst into the woods, they lost sight of Xu Chengcai due to the cover of trees and bushes.

So he took out a walkie-talkie to contact Li Tie: ”Li Tie, we can’t find him, please report the person’s location.”

The drone continued to fly over Xu Chengcai. Li Tie was amazed to see the person carrying another running so fast.

And that was in such a complicated forest terrain, flitting through the woods like a ghost.

Hearing Luo’s message, Li Tie raised the drone higher, spotting Luo behind.

He simultaneously operated the drone and said, ”In your twelve o’clock direction, hurry, hurry!”

In the blink of an eye, Xu Chengcai disappeared from Li Tie’s sight.

Although the drone flew high and could see further, it was easy to be blocked by trees and lose sight.

So Li Tie maneuvered the drone in a circle and finally saw a fleeting figure in one direction.

He then guided the drone over, clearly seeing a middle-aged man carrying a child from the sky.

Weaving through the dense forest.

While running, the person seemed to sense the drone catching up again and made a sharp turn, flashing around to change direction.

”Change, change, now it’s the 10 o’clock direction, Luo, hurry up, don’t let them get away.” Li Tie noticed that Luo and his team were not only failing to close the distance but actually getting further away.

How he ran so fast, especially with someone on his back.

Li Tie felt shocked seeing this scene.

Second Uncle also rushed over from the wall and hurriedly asked, ”What’s happening? Where’s the person?”

Li Tie didn’t look up; he feared losing sight of them again if he looked away.

”Someone is spying on the base, a middle-aged man carrying a child, Luo is currently chasing them with Xiao Ding,” Li Tie briefly explained.

Upon hearing this, Second Uncle quickly leaned over and looked at the drone’s screen.

In the dense forest, a shadow was swiftly weaving through the woods.

”So fast!” Second Uncle exclaimed, seeing the figure moving so quickly it was practically a blur.

”Yes, this person is definitely not ordinary, running faster than Luo’s team even while carrying someone.” Li Tie’s eyes were filled with unease.

”Where’s Li Yu, has he received the message?” Second Uncle asked.

”He was just in the First Outer City, should be on his way now.” Li Tie replied.

Li Yu had been briefing Old Dong on his task and had only gotten halfway through when he received the message over the walkie-talkie. His expression changed slightly, and after telling Old Dong, ”I’ll talk to you later,” he immediately ran toward the wall.

Ever since resolving the issue at Orange Continent, there had been constant worry about the Western Alliance coming, thus strengthening the base and increasing control over Xin City and Gan City.

However, unexpectedly, someone could appear unnoticed near the Big Camphor Tree Base.

Soon, Li Yu arrived at the wall.

Thud, thud, thud—

He entered the duty room without asking questions, directly looking at Li Tie’s drone screen.

”Where are they?” Li Yu inquired, looking at the dense forest.

Upon hearing Li Yu’s voice, Li Tie didn’t take his eyes off the screen, beads of sweat forming on his brow, nervously responding, ”Vanished again; they were just there. Second Uncle, you saw it too, right? They were just under that tree, and in the blink of an eye, they’re gone.”

Second Uncle added, ”The person carrying a child is running fast and seems very familiar with the surroundings. He can’t be ordinary.”

”Did you see what they look like?” Li Yu asked.

”No. They’ve had their back to us, so we haven’t seen them.” Li Tie raised the drone again, hoping to find them.

However, since the torrential rains and flooding, spring had swiftly arrived. In just a month, the trees and shrubs had grown wildly, shooting up with impressive speed.

Moreover, the direction that person fled seemed premeditated; instead of heading towards the highway, they ran into the deep forests, which were dense.

In such thick forests, the leaves obscured the scene below.
