Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 1131: Chapter 716: Jackals Arrive

When Dongfeng and others followed He Chao to leave Weng City.

At the same time.

Ten kilometers away from the Big Camphor Tree Base, in a forest beside the national highway.

Xu Chengcai and his son were shuttling through the forest parallel to the national highway.

”Dad, where did those people just go?” Xiao Yong walked while asking his father curiously.

They had just seen Ju Tianrui, Yu Ming, and others taking Dongfeng and the others away.

Xu Chengcai thought for a moment and said, ”I don’t know, but they shouldn’t be far from here.”

”Then why don’t we appear and follow them over?” Xiao Yong asked puzzledly.

Xu Chengcai spoke, ”That place is unknown, whether it’s good or bad, let’s watch first. If it’s really good, we can join later.”

”Oh, oh.” Xiao Yong seemed to half-understand.

”So, is it to be more cautious?” Xiao Yong looked up and asked.

Xu Chengcai rubbed Xiao Yong’s somewhat coarse hair and laughed, ”Yes.”

Then, the two continued walking along the national highway.

Suddenly, there was the roar of a car on the national highway, not more than ten meters away from them.

Xu Chengcai put down the package and indicated to Xiao Yong to hide behind a bush, ”I will go take a look, you wait here, don’t run around.”

”Okay,” Xiao Yong responded obediently.

After putting down the package, Xu Chengcai moved swiftly like a cheetah, dodging several times, and hid behind an abandoned house.

Such houses were numerous beside the national highway. Before Doomsday, traffic was more convenient here compared to remote areas, so most people who had land by the national highway chose to build houses nearby.

Rumble—

Xu Chengcai saw Yu Ming and several others who had just taken Dongfeng’s group away appearing again in a pickup truck.

After transporting Dongfeng and others back to the Big Camphor Tree Base, Yu Ming did not stop and immediately went out again to transport building materials.

Although he was an extra staff member enjoying a guaranteed monthly grain supply, it wasn’t enough to eat, so he urgently needed to collect and transport building materials, exchange points for food.

Beep Beep—

Yu Ming sounded the horn twice.

Just as Xu Chengcai was puzzled, his eyes swept over.

He saw a person waving at Yu Ming’s vehicle from a seventh-floor residential building not far away.

”Why are there people here, could that place be here?” Xu Chengcai was a bit puzzled.

Although there was a yard and two cars parked below the residential building, it couldn’t fit many people, and it was on the highway where there would be more Zombies.

But Yu Ming and others didn’t see him, and drove the vehicle away quickly.

Xu Chengcai squatted and didn’t move, observing the man at the building while checking for other signs of people.

Just now Dongfeng’s group, and the ones in Anti-explosion Suits, where did they go, why can’t they be seen.

After watching for two or three minutes, there was still only a man about thirty years old in view.

The man seemed to be scouting, using a telescope to occasionally view the sides of the highway and the surroundings.

Xu Chengcai waited for a long time, and only saw another person appear.

Through the telescope, he saw two people conversing, deciphering their lip language.

”Who was honking just now?”

”It was Yu Ming’s group.”

”Did they just transport the people to the base?”

”It seems like it, otherwise they wouldn’t rush out for missions.”

”Alright, it’s my turn, you go inside and rest, I’ll take over.”

.......

A few minutes later.

Xu Chengcai’s eyes twinkled, coming up with an answer.

The people on the seventh-floor small building are likely not at the final destination of Dongfeng and others, but merely a post.

Guessing this answer, Xu Chengcai became more interested in the unknown base.

With such caution, it appears this place, if nothing else, is vigilant, and having vigilance means a higher chance to survive.

Immediately, he seized the opportunity, seeing the people on the building not looking his way, and sneaked away.

On the seven-floor building.

Zhuzi looked at the dilapidated house diagonally opposite, he seemed to catch sight of someone, but when he looked again, there was nothing.

He doubted whether he was seeing things, but to be cautious, and with the base constantly emphasizing increasing vigilance, he decided to carefully watch for strangers.

So, he called someone, bringing along a gun sent from the base, and went downstairs.

Typically, such posts have three people. If suspicious issues arise, one stays upstairs, while two go to check.

On the other side.

After leaving the wall of the dilapidated house by the national highway, Xu Chengcai immediately returned to Xiao Yong’s side.

At this time, Xiao Yong was squatting beside the thousand-year dwarf tree, holding a dagger, staring blankly ahead.

”Dad,” Xiao Yong exclaimed happily.

Shh. Xu Chengcai gestured with his finger.

Without saying anything, he quickly picked up the package in his hand, and pulled Xiao Yong to run into the forest.

”Dad, what’s the matter? What did you see just now?” Xiao Yong asked with a puzzled look.

”I’ll tell you later.” When Xu Chengcai left just now, although he aimed when the view from the building wasn’t toward him.

But, better safe than sorry; they still had to leave here quickly.
