Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 1121: Chapter 712: Disappointment, the Ruined Big Camphor Tree Base

The continuous warming eventually led to the eruption of numerous volcanoes worldwide.

This marked the beginning of a sunless sky.

Subsequently, volcanic ash particles rose to a high stratosphere with the volcanic eruptions.

The stratosphere is relatively stable, so the volcanic ash won’t dissipate quickly but will spread continuously with the atmosphere. The ash in the atmosphere blocks sunlight, causing the temperature to drop, alleviating global warming.

However, it wasn’t the eruption of just one volcano, nor ten, but hundreds of volcanoes worldwide.

During the eruptions, earthquakes occurred in some seismic zones, with lava engulfing the nearby villages, farmlands, and everything around the volcanoes.

After the eruptions, the temperature began to drop, and the ash floated for two weeks, plunging the world into complete darkness, lasting several months.

In just a month, temperatures went from above sixty or seventy degrees Celsius to below.

During this time, they also experienced highly corrosive acid rain, which further enhanced the zombies’ attack power.

Zombies constantly assaulted human settlements; the larger the settlement, the bigger the scale of the zombie attack, and the more significant the impact on the settlement.

In the darkness, the global temperature fell, snowflakes drifted, and the whole world turned into a land of ice and snow.

Once this terrifying natural disaster passed, the sun reappeared, and the temperature rose.

The previous accumulated snow melted, the meltwater encountered a thousand-year heavy rain, leading to dam collapse, and the resulting flood submerged the downstream of the Long River.

Before the flood broke out, the last natural disaster had already inflicted heavy losses. A population that once numbered over a thousand suddenly dwindled to just over twenty.

Thus, Dongfeng led the remaining twenty or so people to Lu Mountain to evade zombies, narrowly escaping the flood disaster, or they all would have perished in this natural disaster.

Over a thousand people, and now only twenty-seven remain. Their journey has been fraught with hardship, averaging them out, and only one in dozens managed to survive.

Old Dong and Liu Youguang were fortunate; they survived with difficulty.

The reason they could keep going and not give up was the belief in their hearts to survive; at such desperate times, they held onto any glimmer of hope.

The rumored Big Camphor Tree Base was like a lifeline they had to grip tightly.

......

On the back of the pickup truck.

Liu Youguang, face weathered and unshaven, felt a nudge on his leg and looked up to see Old Dong.

”What’s up?” Liu Youguang asked hoarsely.

Old Dong looked behind the truck, but since he wasn’t on the last pickup, he couldn’t see the electric vehicles following, nor Ju Tianrui on the vehicle.

”Those people following behind, don’t they seem familiar to you? Do they look like Camp Commander Ju and his group from Orange Continent?” Old Dong asked.

After all, when they left Orange Continent, it was mostly thanks to Ju Tianrui, and they had seen him when they left, leaving some impression of Ju Tianrui.

Liu Youguang’s eyes flashed with memories, and after a long while, he slapped his thigh excitedly, saying, ”Hey! They really do. I didn’t look closely just now, but now that I think back, they really resemble them. When they left Orange Continent, it’s very likely they went to Big Camphor Tree Base. It makes sense!”

When Old Dong saw that Liu Youguang also found Ju Tianrui familiar, it became almost certain.

When Ju Tianrui first appeared, Old Dong felt familiar, but before he could get a better look, they chatted briefly and got onto the vehicle. Now, as he pondered, the resemblance grew stronger.

Ju Tianrui didn’t remember them, as there were so many in the refugee camp, and most were in ragged clothes, and their faces were dirty, making it impossible to discern their appearance.

Old Dong became more excited as he thought about it, not just because he saw an acquaintance, but more importantly, if that person really was Ju Tianrui, they could at least deduce one thing: Big Camphor Tree Base couldn’t be bad.

They knew Gan Shang’s character and also Ju Tianrui’s; Ju Tianrui left because he clashed with Gan Shang.

Ju Tianrui was upright and righteous.

If he voluntarily joined a power, then that power must be better than Orange Continent.

Reflecting on these, Old Dong became more joyful, and Liu Youguang, who was initially sitting on the ground, also joined in.

The other people on the vehicle, hearing their discussion, inquired further.

Originally, those in the vehicle didn’t know much about the Big Camphor Tree Base, but now it was as if their hearts were settled with reassurance.

Liu Youguang looked at the vehicle behind and said, ”Too bad Dongfeng and Uncle Wan aren’t in the same vehicle with us, or we could share this good news with them. They would be delighted to hear it.”

Old Dong, however, remained calm and said leisurely, ”No rush, we can’t be sure if that person is Ju Tianrui. Let’s wait until we get to the Big Camphor Tree Base, then find a chance to confirm.”

Liu Youguang suddenly asked, ”Should we let Dongfeng know first?”

”Let’s tell them since Dongfeng took us in back then, or we’d have nowhere to go after leaving Orange Continent, and it would’ve been hard to survive until now,” Old Dong replied without hesitation.

”Hmm.” Liu Youguang nodded in agreement.

.....

A few more kilometers, less than twenty minutes.
