Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 1125: Chapter 714: Recruiting Top Talent, Doctor of Engineering

Sha Wenji was stunned. Back then, he traveled all the way from Gan City to Chang City in search of items needed by the Big Camphor Tree Base, where he encountered Dongfeng and his group.

At that time, he saw Dongfeng’s group with large numbers and in much better condition than they are now.

But now, the group of over a thousand has dwindled to only about twenty.

Such a drastic change.

Everyone fell silent for a moment.

Then Li Yu looked at Dongfeng and the others and said, ”Okay, it’s fate that we’ve met again. The Big Camphor Tree Base has some rules. Ju Tianrui, Yu Ming, later on, you’ll be responsible for explaining some of the rules of our base to them.”

He then added, ”As for whether you decide to stay or leave, you can make that decision after you’ve understood our rules.”

Dongfeng and Uncle Wan exchanged glances, both having come to their decisions.

So Dongfeng nodded and said to Li Yu, ”Alright, we understand.”

Li Yu then instructed Ju Tianrui to come over and brief him. If after explaining the requirements of the Big Camphor Tree Base, they still wish to join and stay, they will be given the status of Cooperative Personnel. Presently, they don’t have vehicles, making it evidently difficult to gather resources.

For now, they can work together with other cooperative personnel at the construction site on the Third Outer City, and through labor, accumulate points and exchange them for food. As for housing, that’s easy to handle.

Around the Big Camphor Tree Base, there are still some abandoned houses where they can find a place to stay.

If they decide not to stay after understanding the rules, then they will be escorted out.

After understanding Li Yu’s instructions, Ju Tianrui said, ”Alright, I understand. I’ll explain it to them now.”

Li Yu suddenly remembered something and quickly said, ”Wait a minute, I have another question for them.”

Recently, in the Big Camphor Tree Base, there has been a thorough registration of all cooperative and extra staff members.

Each person’s pre-apocalypse profession and expertise have been recorded.

The reason behind this is how He Chao was able to find Zhang San.

Currently, in the base, Li Yu is eager to establish a Power Research Institute but lacks the talent in this field.

At present, in the electrical department, aside from Zhang San, who is relatively outstanding, there are only four or five ordinary related personnel still being evaluated.

What Li Yu needs is top-notch talent in the power field, someone capable of taking on a major role, especially to solve issues related to electric-powered transportation.

Therefore, he asked Dongfeng and the others, ”Does anyone among you understand electric vehicles or anything related to power?”

As soon as he said this, Uncle Wan and Dongfeng were a bit puzzled, not understanding why Li Yu suddenly raised this topic.

Seeing that they weren’t responding, Li Yu chuckled to himself, also.

There can’t be that much talent, and he no longer holds hope for them.

He said to Ju Tianrui, ”Okay, go ahead and explain our Big Camphor Tree Base’s rules to them, and return their belongings that were taken when they left Weng City.”

”Got it,” Ju Tianrui nodded.

Li Yu turned to leave.

”Um, I am a Doctor of Engineering, a professor at the Huaxia Power Science Research Institute, a professorial senior engineer, the Chief Engineer of the energy powertrain technology at B Electric Vehicle Company, and head of the EIC system. I suppose I understand electric vehicles somewhat. I wonder what you plan to do?”

Old Dong suddenly spoke, his voice tinged with slight apprehension.

Words strike as if their impact never ceases.

Even Liu Youguang beside Old Dong was shocked, looking at him in disbelief.

???

If what Old Dong said is true, then his last statement was mere nonsense.

”I suppose I somewhat understand new energy electric vehicles.”

The most crucial elements of electric vehicles are the motor, power battery, and electronic control system, with the power battery being of utmost importance.

As the Chief Engineer of energy powertrain technology at the renowned pre-apocalypse B Electric Company and head responsible for building the three-point system.

If such a phenomenal character merely claims to somewhat understand, then truly no one could claim expertise.

If Old Dong truly holds this identity, it’s extreme humility.

But his wife and children seemed indifferent, having long been accustomed to this. Such achievements were impressive before the apocalypse but in the apocalyptic era, they matter little.

They were used to seeing individuals who once ranked on the Forbes list, now disheveled and weathered, struggling to survive, having brief exchanges with such people.

Perhaps it’s the evil sprout of humanity post-apocalypse, akin to caged beasts released.

Hatred towards the wealthy.

Human perversion lies in watching those once high above, now becoming destitute, especially older individuals struggling more in the apocalypse.

Some faced adversities pre-apocalypse but never self-reflected, blaming society and everyone around, harboring madness suppressed within.

Suddenly witnessing the world, individuals previously elevated, now like them, and worse, they felt no sympathy but indulged in mockery, some even daringly humiliating, beating.

Seeing faces once visible only online, now trampled underfoot, they felt a twisted satisfaction from such conquest.
