Celestial Beast Taming

Chapter 233: Chapter 149: An Accident During Evolution

Upgrading the Resurrection Celestial Lord’s Quality had consumed nearly all the Flowing Soul Soil that Zhong Yi had painstakingly accumulated over the past few days.

Zhong Yi now had less than thirty milliliters of Flowing Soul Soil on hand.

Fortunately, however, forming a contract with the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen would only require a Soul Taming Seed.

Zhong Yi wouldn’t need to use any more Flowing Soul Soil to feed the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen.

Zhong Yi had always placed great importance on production-type Guardian Beasts like the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen, which could yield high-quality resources.

After contracting the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen with a Soul Taming Seed, its Bloodline would undergo a transformation.

’I wonder if the Insect Honey its offspring produce will be even better after its Bloodline evolves?’ Zhong Yi mused.

Zhong Yi retrieved the enormous, blood-red hive where the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen resided from his Storage Pouch.

To use the Soul Taming Seed and form a contract with the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen, Zhong Yi first needed to lure it out of the hive.

The Blood Enchanting Bee Queen was an extremely ferocious Guardian Beast, whose offspring would gather the nectar of Blood-Beauty Peonies to produce Insect Honey.

Although the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen often fed on its own offspring, it actually preferred to eat large livestock.

Before consuming the large livestock, the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen would pierce their bodies with its venomous stinger, releasing potent digestive enzymes.

Once the flesh and Bone turned to a purulent slurry, it would burrow inside and devour the entire carcass until nothing was left.

Zhong Yi had not fed the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen at all since obtaining it.

The Blood Enchanting Bee Queen was already starving.

Zhong Yi took out half the corpse of a Horned Demon and placed it beside the hive.

After a quiet wait of less than five minutes, hunger forced the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen to crawl out of its hive.

It flew toward the fresh Horned Demon corpse, extremely wary of Zhong Yi, who stood nearby under Hong Ji’s protection.

Otherwise, compared to the Horned Demon’s corpse, a human like Zhong Yi would likely have been more to the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen’s taste.

Zhong Yi had already planned on letting the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen eat its fill before forming the contract.

But upon seeing the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen’s appearance, Zhong Yi couldn’t help but furrow his brow slightly.

This particular Blood Enchanting Bee Queen did not match the image of the species that Zhong Yi had in his mind.

As far as he knew, a Blood Enchanting Bee Queen’s body length typically didn’t exceed twenty centimeters.

Yet this Blood Enchanting Bee Queen’s body was slightly larger than the maximum size for its species, and it appeared more imposing and robust.

In terms of appearance, it was indeed like a normal Blood Enchanting Bee Queen—a brilliant red all over, with golden rings on its abdomen.

However, the golden rings on this Bee Queen’s abdomen were not a pale or deep gold, but rather an exceptionally alluring crimson-gold.

Zhong Yi had never lured the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen out of its hive before this.

’Could it be that this bee-type Guardian Beast Zheng Yufeng gave me isn’t a Blood Enchanting Bee Queen after all?’

Zhong Yi used All Things Exploration to examine the bee-like creature, which was currently injecting venom into the Horned Demon’s body with its Tail Needle.

The investigation confirmed that this bee-like creature was indeed a Blood Enchanting Bee Queen.

It had simply undergone some sort of unknown mutation.

Judging from its physical strength alone, it was clear that this mutated Blood Enchanting Bee Queen had greater potential for development.

In less than half an hour, the mutated Blood Enchanting Bee Queen had completely drained the half-corpse of the Horned Demon.

Once it was full, the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen shot a wary look at Zhong Yi and Hong Ji with its compound eyes, then prepared to return to its hive.

Once the sated Blood Enchanting Bee Queen returned to its hive, luring it out again would be difficult.

Zhong Yi was just about to have Hong Ji make a move and forcibly capture the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen.

Even if the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen was injured during the forceful capture, Zhong Yi would be able to heal it.

Sensing Zhong Yi’s intent, before he could even speak to Hong Ji, the Soul-Controlling Flower shot out a mass of floral filaments, snatching the already airborne Blood Enchanting Bee Queen at incredible speed.

The Blood Enchanting Bee Queen could move half a Horned Demon’s corpse with ease, yet it couldn’t even struggle while bound by the Soul-Controlling Flower’s filaments.

The Soul-Controlling Flower had never displayed any combat abilities before, but it now seemed that it was also a powerful fighter.

Zhong Yi walked forward and held the Soul Taming Seed to the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen’s mouthparts.

Zhong Yi could feel the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen’s terror and its rejection of him.

But the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen’s instincts made it fundamentally unable to resist its craving for the Soul Taming Seed.

After the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen swallowed the entire Soul Taming Seed, the Soul-Controlling Flower retracted its filaments.

The mutated Blood Enchanting Bee Queen immediately began to thrash about painfully on the ground.

Its body was constantly being torn apart and reformed. The pair of bee wings on its back were shredded from the violent thrashing, but a brand-new pair quickly grew in their place.

Zhong Yi had always considered Ice Glaze’s Bloodline evolution to be the most painful and miserable one he’d witnessed.

But compared to the wretched state of this Blood Enchanting Bee Queen, Ice Glaze’s past ordeal was like a candle in the sun.

The Blood Enchanting Bee Queen thrashed on the ground for nearly two full hours, yet its Evolution still hadn’t stopped.

The Insect Wings that now grew from the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen were no longer transparent, but had become a translucent, deep gold.

Its body had shrunk to nearly a quarter of its original size.

The Blood Enchanting Bee Queen was now about the size of a large pear.

The color of the blood-red fuzz on its body grew more vibrant. On its abdomen, which was originally black and red with crimson-gold ring patterns, the black sections gradually shifted to green.

It made the still-struggling Blood Enchanting Bee Queen look as exquisite as a work of art.

With that one Soul Taming Seed consumed, Zhong Yi had indeed successfully formed a Contract with the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen.

However, the Soul Taming Seed’s Energy was depleted before the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen could complete its Evolution, leaving it stuck halfway through the process.

This was an incredibly awkward situation!

If the Evolution stopped now, the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen would lose this opportunity for its Bloodline to transform.

If he wanted to help the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen complete its Evolution, the small amount of Flowing Soul Soil Zhong Yi had on hand was definitely not enough.

Zhong Yi’s only option was to feed the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen another Soul Taming Seed.

As this thought crossed Zhong Yi’s mind, the Soul-Controlling Flower, which always treasured its Soul Taming Seeds, surprisingly affirmed his idea.

The Soul-Controlling Flower felt a strong sense of excitement toward the incompletely evolved Blood Enchanting Bee Queen.

This feeling was identical to the one the Soul-Controlling Flower had felt when it saw the Fertility Ant Queen in the Exotic Beast Garden at Senhe Hall.

The more difficult a Bloodline transformation was, the higher the Guardian Beast’s Life Level.

Zhong Yi fed the second Soul Taming Seed to the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen, which was still thrashing on the ground.

’Hopefully, after consuming this second Soul Taming Seed, the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen will be able to complete its Evolution successfully,’ he thought.

If it still couldn’t complete its Evolution after absorbing the second Soul Taming Seed, Zhong Yi would be out of options.

The Blood Enchanting Bee Queen flailed on the ground for nearly another three hours until the Energy of the second Soul Taming Seed was completely exhausted.

Only then did the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen finally stop struggling, secreting a translucent, gelatinous liquid from its body.

Shortly after this liquid came into contact with the air, it hardened into a solid shell.

Zhong Yi stepped forward and cradled the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen, which now resembled a piece of jade, in his palm.

After a moment, Zhong Yi could feel a force from within, repeatedly striking the outer shell.

This force was constantly growing stronger!

It was clear that a brand-new Life was gestating inside the jade-like shell.

Zhong Yi did not intervene, instead waiting quietly for this new Life to break out of the shell on its own power.

After nearly another hour, a bee-like creature, only five or six centimeters long with a slender, elegant body, appeared in Zhong Yi’s palm.

After the bee-like creature emerged, it first pressed its antennae reverently against Zhong Yi’s palm, conveying a feeling of intimacy to him.
