Celestial Beast Taming

Chapter 215: Chapter 140: Even I Will Envy You

If the Crying Moon Goddess found out about this, Qin Ruyue truly had no idea how she would explain herself.

She was, after all, the instigator of this whole fiasco in Starlight City.

It was all a result of her own machinations to seize the Rule Deceit Embryo that Shi Mi had painstakingly acquired.

Zhong Yi just smiled at her words and didn’t say much more.

”Let’s go, Vice President Fu. We can talk once we’re upstairs.”

They took the elevator all the way to the top floor of the Zhenchong Commerce Association.

The Zhenchong Commerce Association’s headquarters was located in the Central District, and from the top floor, the silhouette of the distant Star Frost Tower was faintly visible through the window.

It was Tang Yan’s first time meeting Zhong Yi. As she bowed respectfully to greet him, she spotted Sun Yushi standing behind him.

Looking as surprised as if she’d run into an old friend, Tang Yan asked.

”Brother Sun, what are you doing here?”

”It’s been over half a year since we last saw each other.”

The Starlight Army had its own compound for military families.

A large area in the southern part of the Upper City District was designated for Starlight Army personnel and their families.

Tang Yan and Sun Yushi used to live in the same military compound, and their families were neighbors.

Since they were close in age, they had been childhood playmates.

Sun Yushi had been exceptionally talented since he was young, always the model child that adults would praise as ”someone else’s kid.”

He graduated with top honors from the Starlight Preparatory Academy, which was attended by children of the Starlight Army, and was admitted into the Starlight Academy.

After that, Tang Yan and Sun Yushi seldom met.

Tang Yan married Fu Hongning and was living a happy life.

Sun Yushi’s wife, however, made a Heroic Sacrifice during a mission.

Tang Yan had heard that he was despondent for many years afterward. The last time she saw him was at a banquet hosted by her grandfather.

At the time, even her own father had been extremely respectful toward Sun Yushi.

It was then that Tang Yan learned Sun Yushi was now serving in the Starlight Army’s special operations department, acting as a special agent who answered only to the highest echelons of command.

Sun Yushi wasn’t surprised to see Tang Yan.

Knowing the trip was to the Zhenchong Commerce Association headquarters, he had anticipated that he might run into her, the vice president’s wife.

”I am Lord Zhong Yi’s guard, responsible for his protection.”

After speaking, Sun Yushi said nothing more to Tang Yan.

Sun Yushi’s words sent tumultuous waves crashing through Tang Yan’s mind.

’What!?’

’Someone of Sun Yushi’s standing is acting as a guard for an S-Level Combat-type Celestial Destiny Seeker?’

This completely contradicted Tang Yan’s understanding of how things worked.

’Even if Starlight City held Celestial Destiny Seekers in high regard, there were plenty of other candidates for the role of a guard.’

’It shouldn’t be someone like Sun Yushi from the Starlight Army’s special operations department.’

’Could he have done something wrong and been punished for it?’

Just as Fu Hongning was about to invite Zhong Yi to take a seat and personally brew him some tea, Zhong Yi suddenly spoke.

”Vice President Fu, I heard from Brother Xu that your two Guardian Beasts are severely injured.”

”Why don’t you summon them? I’ll see if I can heal them.”

Zhong Yi’s words warmed the hearts of Fu Hongning, Tang Yan, and Fu Wei.

Just yesterday, Fu Hongning’s Guardian Beasts had been gravely injured fighting the Bizarre while protecting Zhong Yi.

Zhong Yi had only been rescued last night, yet here he was, first thing in the morning, at the Zhenchong Commerce Association headquarters, offering to heal Fu Hongning’s Guardian Beasts.

After Zhong Yi finished speaking, more than half of the resentment in Fu Wei’s heart vanished.

Tang Yan knew that Sun Yushi wasn’t skilled in healing, so she subconsciously assumed that Qin Ruyue, standing behind Zhong Yi, would be the one to treat Fu Hongning’s Guardian Beasts.

None of them—not Tang Yan, Fu Wei, nor Fu Hongning—ever imagined that Zhong Yi himself would be the one to provide the healing.

Sun Yushi, on the other hand, discreetly fixed his gaze on Zhong Yi.

He had long heard that Zhong Yi could heal the injuries of Mythical Tier Guardian Beasts.

Sun Yushi was filled with anticipation, eager to witness the healing techniques of the only Healing-type Celestial Destiny Seeker in the history of the Xin Xia Federation.

Fu Hongning had never brought up the condition of his two Guardian Beasts in front of Zhong Yi.

Firstly, he was certain that Xu Anjun would have already told Zhong Yi about their injuries.

Secondly, he didn’t want to appear like he was playing the victim to gain sympathy from Zhong Yi.

Fu Hongning had no intention of asking for a reward for his help, and he didn’t want Zhong Yi to get the wrong impression.

But now that Zhong Yi had taken the initiative and asked him to summon his two Guardian Beasts, Fu Hongning certainly wouldn’t refuse.

Fu Hongning activated his Soul Base, and soon his Lifebound Guardian Beasts, the Melting Explosion Scorpion and the Blood-toothed Scorpion, materialized before him.

The Melting Explosion Scorpion’s tail had been ripped out by the roots, and one of its pincers had been snapped in half.

The entire scorpion was left with only a single pincer, and its wounds were still oozing green insect blood.

From the outside, the Blood-toothed Scorpion appeared to be in much better shape than the Melting Explosion Scorpion.

However, any discerning eye could see that the Blood-toothed Scorpion had lost most of its vitality.

Its tail, which should have been poised to strike, now lay limp on the ground.

Shortly after it was summoned, a pool of dark green blood began to form beneath it.

The distinct, acrid stench of insect blood filled the air.

Without giving Fu Hongning a chance to speak, Zhong Yi activated his own Soul Base and summoned his Order Beast, the Resurrection Celestial Lord.

After summoning the Resurrection Celestial Lord, Zhong Yi wasted no time and immediately commanded it to begin healing the Melting Explosion Scorpion and the Blood-toothed Scorpion.

In that instant, even if Fu Hongning, Tang Yan, and Fu Wei had been complete fools, they would have understood. Zhong Yi was not the S-Level Combat-type Celestial Destiny Seeker they had believed him to be.

He was, in fact, an SSS-Level Healing-type Celestial Destiny Seeker who had simply never revealed his true identity.

There was no faking the humanoid Order Beast before them, which radiated an aura of pure healing power.

Right now, Tang Yan was more concerned with whether Zhong Yi, as a Healing-type Celestial Destiny Seeker, could actually heal Fu Hongning’s two Guardian Beasts.

Fu Hongning’s heart, however, was racing with excitement. He was ecstatic to have forged a connection with a Healing-type Celestial Destiny Seeker like Zhong Yi.

’If Zhong Yi is willing to shelter the Zhenchong Commerce Association,’ he thought, ’it could rise from an established faction to a top-tier power in less than five years.’

’And unlike other factions that have just reached the top, we wouldn’t be ostracized by the other major powers.’

’In fact, other top-tier powers would probably take the initiative to curry favor and build ties with us long before we even made the leap.’

As their Contractor, Fu Hongning could feel the injuries of his Melting Explosion Scorpion and Blood-toothed Scorpion healing at an incredible speed.

The Blood-toothed Scorpion’s damaged Scorpion Heart was gradually being mended by the healing of the Order Beast before him.

In fact, Fu Hongning didn’t need his connection to know it. Anyone present could clearly see the Melting Explosion Scorpion’s tail and pincer regenerating.

The Blood-toothed Scorpion’s heart had been leaking blood, and its condition was dire before the treatment began.

But it was a Mythical Tier Peak Insect-type Mutant Beast, after all, and Insect Guardian Beasts have always been known for their tenacity.

After its Scorpion Heart was repaired, the Blood-toothed Scorpion’s Life Energy was overdrawn.

However, with a diet of high-quality food for a month or two, its depleted Life Energy would be fully restored.

This was because the Core of Resurgence’s healing method worked by stimulating the Life Template within the Guardian Beast’s body.

Healing two Mythical Tier Guardian Beasts at once didn’t put much strain on the Resurrection Celestial Lord.

Even Xu Anjun and Qin Ruyue, who had witnessed Zhong Yi’s healing before, were once again stunned by the sight.

To say nothing of Sun Yushi, Fu Hongning, and the others, who had never seen him heal a Guardian Beast before.

In that moment, Tang Yan finally understood why someone like Sun Yushi had been assigned to protect Zhong Yi.

”There, Vice President Fu. Your two Guardian Beasts are fully healed.”

”My reason for coming to the Zhenchong Commerce Association has now been fulfilled.”

”If you act heroically again and your Guardian Beasts get hurt, Vice President Fu, you can come to me for treatment.”

Seeing Fu Hongning looking dazed from the double shock of surprise and joy, Xu Anjun quickly stepped forward.

He clapped him on the shoulder and said with a laugh.

”Old Fu, I’m afraid there are very few people in all of Starlight City who have received a promise of healing from Lord Zhong Yi.”

”Even I’m going to be jealous of you from now on.”
