Celestial Beast Taming

Chapter 212: Chapter 139: 3-Colored River-Swallowing Snake

There was no precedent for assigning guards to new Celestial Destiny Seekers.

These two Mythical Tier experts, who had been serving in the Starlight Army as recently as yesterday, had been granted the opportunity to stay by the Celestial Destiny Seekers’ side and personally protect them.

To the two of them, this was not only a great honor but also a potentially life-changing opportunity.

”Deputy Xu, you’ve interacted with the two Lords before. We were wondering if you could share some advice on how to serve them.”

”Deputy Xu, Brother Wang and I are both simple men. We’re worried we might do something to displease the two Lords.”

Xu Anjun chuckled upon hearing this.

”Wang Ning, Sun Yushi, there’s no need to be so tense. The two Lords are very approachable.”

”But if you’re insisting I share some experience, I do have a few insights for you.”

”If you want to be valued while serving the Lords, your job is about more than just ensuring their safety.”

”You should also try your best to become their trusted aides and help them with the trivial matters of daily life.”

”You must serve them with true sincerity. Earn their trust with your own.”

”How the two Lords end up seeing you isn’t something you need to worry about.”

As a Celestial Destiny Seeker’s Deputy, Xu Anjun gave Wang Ning and Sun Yushi this advice.

It was less about helping them and more about building a connection with them.

If the two of them could win the approval of Zhong Yi and Shen Xuan, they would one day become her equals.

Shen Xuan, in particular, still hadn’t chosen his Deputy.

Becoming his guard was an opportunity to vie for that position.

However, considering the dynamic between Shen Xuan and Zhong Yi, if Xu Anjun had to choose...

...she would choose to curry favor with Zhong Yi, not Shen Xuan.

After her few interactions with Shen Xuan, Xu Anjun had a nagging feeling.

She wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination, but it seemed like Shen Xuan treated Zhong Yi as a slave would his master.

Wang Ning and Sun Yushi listened intently to Xu Anjun’s words.

As a Celestial Destiny Seeker’s Deputy, Xu Anjun knew exactly how one should conduct themselves in their presence.

When Wang Ning and Sun Yushi were chosen, their faces had broken into massive, crinkled smiles.

They weren’t just following ordinary Celestial Destiny Seekers; they were assigned to a Healing-type Celestial Destiny Seeker with SSS Level potential and a Combat-type Celestial Destiny Seeker with SS Level potential.

In the future, these two would not only be major figures in Starlight City but would become the standard-bearers for the Xin Xia Federation’s new generation of Celestial Destiny Seekers.

If not for this, Wang Ning and Sun Yushi were both men who had seen their share of major events.

There would have been no need for them to be nervous about guarding a couple of youngsters.

”Lord Su Sheng is coming out!”

”You two, get out of the vehicle with me and greet Lord Su Sheng.”

”We’ll see which of you Lord Su Sheng chooses.”

Wang Ning and Sun Yushi, their prospective guards, already knew that Zhong Yi had two identities as a Celestial Destiny Seeker.

Wang Ning and Sun Yushi served in the Starlight Army’s combat command headquarters, holding ranks even higher than a Commander.

They belonged to Starlight City’s trusted inner circle.

Upon seeing Zhong Yi, both men bowed deeply and respectfully addressed him, ”Lord Su Sheng.”

Xu Anjun introduced them to Zhong Yi.

”Lord Su Sheng, these are the two guards selected for you and Lord Suide.”

”One is named Wang Ning, and the other is Sun Yushi.”

”Please choose one first. The other will go to Starlight Academy to find Lord Suide.”

At this, Zhong Yi smiled and nodded at Wang Ning and Sun Yushi, who had just greeted him.

He then used All Things Exploration to inspect them.

Wang Ning’s Beastmaster Talent was called Heroic Sacrifice.

[Heroic Sacrifice: When an allied target takes damage, you can amplify the damage taken by your own Guardian Beast. This amplified damage is then converted into Healing Energy and transferred to the designated target.]

Sun Yushi’s Beastmaster Talent was Snake Swarm Command.

[Snake Swarm Command: For every snake-type unit you form a Contract with, all of your contracted snake-type units will receive a boost to their growth speed, Evolution speed, attributes, elemental abilities, physical strength, and other aspects.]

Whether it was Wang Ning or Sun Yushi, both had powerful Beastmaster Talents.

Zhong Yi didn’t know what Guardian Beasts Wang Ning had under Contract, but Sun Yushi’s were certainly all snake-type.

Zhong Yi was a Healing-type Guardian Beast Master himself, so he didn’t need a guard with a Healing Ability.

A Combat-type Celestial Destiny Seeker like Shen Xuan, on the other hand, had a high demand for Healing Abilities.

Zhong Yi spoke directly to Sun Yushi.

”From now on, you’ll be with me.”

”I’ll be leaving my safety in your hands.”

With that, Zhong Yi invited Sun Yushi to ride in the Guardian Beast Vehicle with him and Qin Ruyue.

Seeing that Zhong Yi had chosen him, Sun Yushi smiled and thanked him while exclaiming inwardly, ’I’m so lucky!’

Sun Yushi had originally thought Zhong Yi would choose Wang Ning. Wang Ning’s Lifebound Guardian Beast was the City Wall Dragon Elephant, which was exceptionally skilled in defense.

The Bloodline of the City Wall Dragon Elephant, a Beast Dragon Species Guardian Beast, had already reached the level of a Main Dragon Species.

Wang Ning and Sun Yushi had previously been teammates on the same Celestial Destiny Seeker’s squad.

They both had some understanding of each other’s Beastmaster Talents.

Besides being skilled at defense, Wang Ning was also adept at healing other targets while maintaining his guard.

When facing a powerful opponent, Wang Ning’s Healing Ability was no worse than that of a Healing-type Guardian Beast Master of the same Tier.
