Celestial Beast Taming

Chapter 229: Chapter 147: Zhong Yi’s Good Person Card

Looking at Zhong Yi’s smiling face, Qin Ruyue was surprised to feel a strong sense of dependence well up inside her.

The feeling made Qin Ruyue feel as if she were losing control.

Qin Ruyue silently recited dozens of dish names in her head, and only after picturing the taste of sweet and sour pork did she slowly rein in the feeling.

Qin Ruyue gave Zhong Yi a long, hard look and said in a very serious tone,

”Young Master... thank you. You’re a really good person.”

With that, Qin Ruyue turned and walked toward the main residence’s gate, leaving Zhong Yi behind with a strange expression on his face.

Zhong Yi rubbed his nose, his lips twitching into an awkward smile.

’Did I just get friend-zoned!?’

Qin Ruyue usually wore a cold and aloof expression.

But as she arrived at the second-floor activity room this time, Qin Ruyue couldn’t help but hum a little tune.

”The early worm gets eaten by the bird, the early bird gets eaten by the tarantula, la la la la la...”

She was humming the tune as she prepared to return to Hong Ji’s room on the third floor. She planned to use the Extreme Night Jade Dew Zhong Yi had just given her to recharge her Emperor’s Instrument of Silent Night.

That’s when she saw Sun Ya and He Guoguo slumped listlessly over a table in the activity room.

Seeing this, Qin Ruyue’s brow furrowed slightly.

’Zhong Yi has already chosen these two. In the future, they’ll become Bizarre, Contracted by him through that Fairy, just like me.’

’Qin Ruyue clearly remembered Zhong Yi having Zhao Kai give them a considerable amount of Anomalous Fire and materials containing Curse Power just last night.’

’They should be using those materials to improve their Deceit Beasts right now.’

’So why are they just slumped here doing nothing!?’

To Qin Ruyue, attitude was more important than Talent.

This was especially true for Sun Ya and He Guoguo, who were just starting out.

Without the right attitude, no matter how great their Talent, they would always lag a step behind other geniuses of their caliber.

’To fall one step behind is to fall behind in everything!’

If their mindsets were truly a problem, Qin Ruyue felt she should help them correct their course immediately.

Normally, Qin Ruyue wouldn’t meddle. But now, she saw herself as part of Zhong Yi’s circle.

Qin Ruyue approached Sun Ya and He Guoguo and asked,

”Have you used up all the materials the Young Master gave you last night?”

”If you have, I have some more here.”

With that, Qin Ruyue offered them a container of Anomalous Fire and dozens of materials imbued with Curse Power.

Sun Ya and He Guoguo scrambled to their feet when they saw Qin Ruyue.

They didn’t know Qin Ruyue’s exact identity, but they knew she had been standing by Zhong Yi’s side during their meeting last night.

Instead of taking the resources, they first greeted Qin Ruyue with immense respect.

He Guoguo was the first to speak, her voice soft.

”We haven’t used the materials Lord Su Sheng bestowed upon us to strengthen our Deceit Beasts.”

”We’re afraid that if we absorb the materials to strengthen our Deceit Beasts now, it might affect our Contract with Lord Su Sheng or increase his burden.”

”So we didn’t dare to use those materials.”

He Guoguo was normally a very energetic person, but she seemed completely listless as she spoke.

Ever since Zhong Yi had given them the resources last night, He Guoguo and Sun Ya had been worried.

’What if Zhong Yi only planned to cultivate them, without intending to use the Moon Eyes Bellflower to form a Contract?’

’If that were the case, they wouldn’t truly be joining Lord Zhong Yi’s ranks as Bizarre, nor would they become his trusted people.’

Besides, in the world Sun Ya and He Guoguo had been raised in, an uncontrolled Bizarre was synonymous with danger.

They could never be truly accepted by the Guardian Beast Master community.

Qin Ruyue was stunned for a moment. ’So that’s why these two girls were just sitting here,’ she thought. ’They were worried about this.’

The Purifying Moon Sect neighbored the Xin Xia Federation, so Qin Ruyue was familiar with some of its affairs.

Qin Ruyue had seen a Moon Eyes Bellflower with her own eyes and had even researched the creature, which helped Guardian Beast Masters control the Bizarre.

However, Zhong Yi’s method of Contracting Bizarre was fundamentally different from that of the Xin Xia Federation’s Deceit Holders.

The Deceit Holders in the Xin Xia Federation, who Contracted with Moon Eyes Bellflowers, lacked the ability to bring a Bizarre of her caliber—one who had reached the Mythical Tier—under their control.

As far as Qin Ruyue was concerned, Sun Ya and He Guoguo were worrying over nothing.

They were only having their Deceit Beasts absorb the materials, not even enhancing their Tier or Quality.

Even if they raised their Deceit Beasts to the Extraordinary Tier, it wouldn’t affect Zhong Yi’s ability to form a Contract with them.

Just as Qin Ruyue was wondering how to answer them, Sun Ya asked softly, her voice filled with apprehension.

”Sister Qin, do you think Lord Su Sheng will be willing to form a Contract with us?”

As she spoke, Sun Ya nervously twisted her fingers together.

Qin Ruyue could see the worry and unease in Sun Ya’s posture.

Looking at Sun Ya and He Guoguo’s expressions, Qin Ruyue was deeply moved.

She couldn’t help but recall her own youth, that time when she discovered the thing that had awakened within her Soul Base was a Deceit Beast.

Back then, she had often been plagued by the same kinds of worries.

Never mind her childhood; Qin Ruyue had just recently experienced that same anxiety about the future, right before she received the Extreme Night Jade Dew.

Sun Ya was now just as she had once been: a lower-ranker with no power to decide her own fate.

After mulling it over, Qin Ruyue shook her head.

”I can’t answer that question for you.”

Qin Ruyue’s words caused the hopeful light in He Guoguo and Sun Ya’s eyes to dim.

But then they heard Qin Ruyue continue.

”This is something only the Young Master himself can decide.”

”The Young Master has only just returned. If you want an answer, I’ll take you to ask him.”

”Whether he decides to form a Contract with you or not, as long as you stay by his side and do your best, you are guaranteed a bright future that others can only envy.”

”Come on. Once you have your answer, you two need to focus on improving your strength. Don’t disappoint the Young Master’s expectations.”

”When I was young, I certainly wasn’t like you two, getting so many high-quality materials to nurture a Deceit Beast right from the start.”

Zhong Yi was a bit confused when he saw Qin Ruyue approaching with Sun Ya and He Guoguo in tow.

After listening to Qin Ruyue’s explanation, Zhong Yi led the three of them to a quiet room on the first floor and promptly summoned the Hundred-Eyed Moon Demon.

Zhong Yi hadn’t rushed to form a Contract with Sun Ya and He Guoguo last night because he’d wanted them to get some rest.

Then, early this morning, Shen Xuan had completed the potential assessment for a Celestial Destiny Seeker, and Zhong Yi had gone with him to the Celestial Destiny Society to exchange for supplies.

In the process, he’d forgotten all about forming the Contract with Sun Ya and He Guoguo.

Zhong Yi hadn’t expected them to get so worked up over it.

”Xiaoya, Guoguo, if I didn’t plan on forming a Contract with you, I wouldn’t have brought you here from Elder Chen’s side in the first place.”

”My method of forming a Contract is different from that of an ordinary Deceit Holder, but the end result is the same.”

”By being Contracted through my method, you, as Deceit Beast Masters, will also gain certain benefits.”

”Now, summon your Deceit Beasts and have them release their Energy Cores.”

At his words, brilliant smiles slowly spread across He Guoguo’s and Sun Ya’s faces.

The great weight that had been pressing on their hearts since last night was finally lifted.

As the Hundred-Eyed Moon Demon formed the Contract with Sun Ya and He Guoguo, Qin Ruyue observed it intently.

Until Sun Ya and He Guoguo had mentioned the Moon Eyes Bellflower, it had never occurred to Qin Ruyue to connect Zhong Yi’s Fairy to it.

Looking at the decorations on the Fairy’s skirt, which were nearly identical to the blossoms of a Moon Eyes Bellflower, a thought suddenly struck Qin Ruyue.

’Could this Four-winged Fairy that Zhong Yi Contracted be an Evolution of the Moon Eyes Bellflower!?’

The moment the thought occurred to her, Qin Ruyue felt it was absurd.

’If this Four-winged Fairy truly is the Evolution of a Moon Eyes Bellflower, and an evolved Moon Eyes Bellflower can control a Mythical Tier Bizarre like me...’

’Then why haven’t the other Deceit Holders in the Xin Xia Alliance evolved their Moon Eyes Bellflowers?’
