The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 1272: Chapter 1272: Digging Your Own Grave

Zhou has been arrested now, which means he already meets the arrest conditions, there is evidence pointing to him, and he can be convicted.

What is the basis for his conviction?

Wang Daoran doesn’t know. Since that officer He wasn’t willing to say before, it already explains a lot of issues. The police are already standing against Wang Daoran!

Moreover, arrest warrants aren’t issued lightly. When they arrest his secretary without any prior warning to him, what does that indicate?

This indicates that the police are already severing ties with him, believing he won’t escape.

Does a ’dying man’ need to be flattered? Even if Ancient Martial the Wang Family is behind him, the illegal goods combined with the gambling activities are too serious. Ancient Martial the Wang Family can’t protect him, they can only watch from afar, while he and Wang Group have been abandoned!

Wang Daoran took out his phone, dialed a number, and after several rings, the call was answered.

”Hey Old Wang, something up?”

Wang Daoran felt a surge of frustration. The other party obviously knows why he’s calling, yet asks this, clearly indicating they’ve turned against him.

”What? You’re intending to kick me while I’m down too?” Wang Daoran said with a cold laugh.

”Hey~ what are you saying? We’ve known each other for years, and you know my temper, I wouldn’t do such a thing. It’s just... this hurdle is really hard for you this time.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Daoran felt a bitter taste in his heart. It’s his own fault, always presenting refined gifts to these high officials without leaving any shortcomings, just to not leave any flaws for the future.

But who knew, this only left him without any way to restrain the other party; otherwise, would they dare have this attitude?

Wang Daoran said, ”My secretary, Zhou just received a warrant and was taken away. You wouldn’t be unaware of this, right?”

”I know about this, and I had my reasons for not telling you earlier. Now that the arrest warrant is issued, if Zhou vanished from the world, it’d be hard for me to handle too. I hope you understand.”

Wang Daoran was filled with anger now, listening to this talk! It’s all just perfunctory!

”Why was he arrested?” Wang Daoran asked coldly.

”Today a woman named Zhang Ya’Er came to the bureau to surrender. She claimed to be in charge of the gambling scene under the mall, with a ledger detailing the accounts of the number one gambling scene and a series of bank transfer records. Additionally, Zhang Ya’Er also has a recording of her conversations with Zhou, related to the gambling scene and the direction of funds.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Daoran’s eyebrows almost twisted together, asking hoarsely, ”Are you sure?”

The other’s tone became heavier, ”Absolutely sure! If it wasn’t sure, would they dare issue an arrest warrant?”

The conversation didn’t last long before ending abruptly.

Wang Daoran truly felt the urge to jump and curse. That woman Zhang Ya’Er is too ruthless! Sacrificing herself to bite Zhou!

And Zhou, too damn stupid! Not the slightest precaution, and such important conversations even got recorded!

Sitting in the chair, Wang Daoran wondered, what could Zhang Ya’Er’s motive be for doing this? She doesn’t have a deep grudge against Zhou; she clearly could’ve found an opportunity to flee abroad, her surrender makes no sense.

Wang Daoran didn’t suspect Lin Tian, because that guy just took twelve percent of the stock. If I do poorly, he’d lose money too. It’s very likely other business rivals, as quite a few are eyeing Wang Group.

Unable to figure it out, he chose not to think about it. His main worry now is his own situation, Zhou’s incarceration threatens him too much, there’s almost an eighty percent chance it will affect him.

After pondering for a long time, Wang Daoran took out his phone to call an elder of Ancient Martial the Wang Family, who used to be a high-ranking figure, although now retired, his network is still extensive. He used to show respect to the elder, just to leave a life-saving card for himself.

The call connected, Wang Daoran laughed, ”Fourth Elder, how’s your health lately?”

”How else? Same as always. What’s up? You having trouble?”

Upon hearing this, Wang Daoran thought ’bad luck’. It’s impossible that the Fourth Elder doesn’t know about the recent company troubles, so clearly he’s asking knowingly, indicating he doesn’t want to get involved.

”It’s a little trouble, might need your intervention.” Wang Daoran said honestly, ”Just now, cops with an arrest warrant came to take Zhou away, and the fire might spread to me.”

”What?” Fourth Elder’s tone suddenly shifted, ”What’s going on?”

This surprised Wang Daoran. It takes time to apply for an arrest warrant, it’s understandable that he didn’t know, but even Fourth Elder didn’t?

”You didn’t hear any news before?” Wang Daoran asked cautiously.

Fourth Elder’s tone wasn’t as calm as before, saying sullenly, ”No! Seems someone is guarding against us so no word got out.”

Wang Daoran remained silent for a long time, realizing things are worse than he expected.

Fourth Elder suddenly thought of something and asked nervously, ”Yesterday Sijing said to give Lin Tian shares, to make peace, but the contract isn’t signed yet, right?”

”...” Wang Daoran was momentarily speechless, not knowing what to say.

Fourth Elder’s heart abruptly skipped a beat, raising his voice by eight levels, ”Signed?!”

”Signed, signed...” Wang Daoran said with a trembling voice.

Fourth Elder roared, ”Why sign so fast?! In such a hurry to die?!”

”He came to the company himself, the young lady told me right before he arrived. He’s really irritating, I just...” Hearing Fourth Elder’s heavy breathing, Wang Daoran dared not continue.

”Sigh~ never mind, let’s find a chance to take back the shares later.” Fourth Elder said helplessly.

Wang Daoran’s heart eased a little, so this matter is brushed over for now.

Fourth Elder asked again, ”Alright, I’ll find someone to pass a message to Zhou, reassure him, and keep you out of it first.”

It’s crucial to protect him, having transferred shares already, if Wang Daoran gets caught, it would be a huge loss.

Wang Daoran is the chairman of Wang Group, and if he gets caught too, the impact on Wang Group would be enormous, not to mention the ’morale’ inside the group, the reputation externally would also significantly drop.

Wang Daoran said, ”I don’t think reassurances will work.”

It’s just reassurance, how can it make anyone feel at ease?

”What do you want then?”

”Only dead men don’t speak.”

”But it’s the police station! It’s not like it used to be; the Security Management Institute has intervened. Killing him there won’t ensure your safety!” Fourth Elder’s tone increased threefold, thinking Wang Daoran is not only digging his own grave but dragging Ancient Martial the Wang Family down with him!
