The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

”Then hurry up and lead the way!”

This wasn’t exactly a legitimate business, so the transaction had to be quick.

Leng Yuan said in a low voice. The underling didn’t dare waste any more time and immediately led the two to Old Nine’s house.

This Old Nine was cautious. On his own turf, he could quickly deal with any unexpected problems.

The underling led the two inside and ran over to whisper a few words in Old Nine’s ear. Old Nine was clearly able to keep his cool, showing no sign of his urgent need for cash.

He squinted his small eyes, sizing up the two men. His expression was meant to be intimidating, but because of the bandage on his hand, it just looked vaguely comical.

Lu Yuanbin’s friend almost burst out laughing.

Fortunately, he pinched himself hard. He used too much force and ended up wincing in pain, his brows furrowed.

When Old Nine saw him frown, he thought the man disliked being sized up and immediately averted his gaze.

An Dongyang had already used up one day. Today was the second of the three days Boss Lü had given him, so he was indeed quite anxious.

He didn’t care who they were. As long as they looked at the goods and could afford the price, it was fine.

”You two are here to buy something. Let me say this first, this stuff isn’t cheap.”

Lu Yuanbin’s friend looked displeased, and Leng Yuan snapped, ”Cut the crap. We’re here to buy. You think we’re not going to pay?”

”But we need to see the goods first.”

Old Nine had someone bring out the items.

A wooden tray was brought out, covered with a piece of red cloth. On the cloth lay a jadeite bracelet, three pairs of jadeite earrings in different colors, several gold earrings and golden rings, and a pair of gold bracelets.

The style of the gold bracelets was quite unique; they were engraved with Buddhist scriptures, clearly the work of a master.

An Dongyang probably didn’t understand the value of these bracelets, which was why he was selling them off as plain gold.

Leng Yuan calmly stepped forward to inspect the items. He then picked up the bracelet and the jadeite earrings. ”Sir, this bracelet would be a nice gift for your wife. The quality is decent.”

Lu Yuanbin’s friend pretended to give it an expert look, then nodded. ”It’s alright.”

Old Nine immediately started to hype it up. ”This Jade Bracelet is top-quality jadeite! Look at the clarity, look at the texture! It’s all top-grade stuff.”

Leng Yuan said in a low voice, ”This piece of yours is just slightly better-than-average jadeite. Hardly worth such praise.”

Old Nine fell silent.

He genuinely thought the jadeite was good, but seeing the two men’s calm expressions, he figured they must have seen much better things. He didn’t say another word.

There were only a few items. The man glanced over them. ”Only this jadeite bracelet is worth anything. How about this... Eight hundred. The style of the other items is passable, and this gold is the most useless. Fifteen hundred. I’ll take it all.”

The man was full of swagger.

Old Nine was taken aback. He’d thought the man would only want one item and was surprised he wanted to buy the whole lot. But even for the whole lot, the price was far too low.

”Sir, this Jade Bracelet is a fine piece, I...”

”Eighteen hundred.”

”But look, these earrings are good too! This is red jadeite...”

”Alright, enough nonsense. Two thousand.”

The man looked like he didn’t want to waste any more time.

Old Nine thought that if he just said a few more words, he might be able to raise the price again. He started praising the goods once more, but as soon as Leng Yuan heard him, he turned as if to leave.

Seeing that they were about to walk out on the deal, Old Nine panicked. He quickly called out, ”Wait, sir! We can still negotiate.”

”Two thousand. Take it or leave it.”

”My time is valuable. Frankly, your collection here isn’t even worth two thousand. I couldn’t care less about those golden rings. You know that on the black market, a golden ring is less practical than a bag of rice—plenty of people will sell one for ten yuan. I’m already giving you a good price.”

”If Boss Xu hadn’t recommended you, I wouldn’t have even come here.”
