The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

Leng Yuan knew An Dongyang wouldn’t let this go and would still come after Lu Yuanbin. However, before making any more trouble, An Dongyang first wanted to settle his own debt with Boss Lü.

So, the day after Lu Yuanbin returned, Leng Yuan came by again.

As it happened, his royalty payment had also arrived. He was going to deposit the money and, while he was at it, have Lu Yuanbin keep an eye on An Dongyang and Old Nine.

Lu Yuanbin immediately had Wang Laoer start tailing them.

After all, they couldn’t get involved with the black market for now. Besides, they were just a bunch of unemployed hooligans in the first place; otherwise, they never would have gotten into the black market business to begin with.

And sure enough, before noon, Wang Laoer sent back news.

He said Old Nine had a few valuable items and was currently looking for a buyer. It seemed he was in a hurry.

Hearing this, Lu Yuanbin and Leng Yuan exchanged a look.

It was obvious An Dongyang was trying to raise money.

Leng Yuan wasn’t surprised by this. Instead, he suddenly asked, ”Do you know what the items are?”

Wang Laoer scratched his head. ”I don’t know the specifics, only that it’s some jewelry.”

Lu Yuanbin’s face showed a lack of interest upon hearing this.

’What’s so interesting about jewelry?’

Leng Yuan, however, showed a rare spark of interest.

”Where is Old Nine making the deal?”

Wang Laoer told Leng Yuan the location.

Leng Yuan was very interested in what Old Nine had, but he had beaten the man up before and had seen him a few times since. Old Nine would probably recognize him on sight.

Seeing Leng Yuan’s interest, Lu Yuanbin immediately spoke up.

”Brother Leng, if you’re interested, I have a friend who can help you with this.”

Leng Yuan agreed.

So, the two of them first went to withdraw some money, then went to find Lu Yuanbin’s friend. The friend was clearly on very good terms with Lu Yuanbin. He was a junior manager at a factory and was always well-dressed.

He seemed like a suitable choice.

When the friend learned that Lu Yuanbin wanted his help buying something from Old Nine for a ”big shot,” he was happy to oblige.

He didn’t overthink it. After all, he knew that Lu Yuanbin and Old Nine didn’t get along.

He also knew that Lu Yuanbin’s crew was at odds with Old Nine’s men. So when Lu Yuanbin came to him for help, it made sense—he was the only logical choice.

The friend didn’t know Leng Yuan, so Lu Yuanbin spoke directly.

”This is the big shot’s subordinate. He can help with the appraisal. Just take him with you, and do whatever he says.”

Leng Yuan now wore a thick beard and a hat. His skin was darkened, making him look much older.

With a change of clothes, he looked just like a driver for a wealthy family.

Lu Yuanbin’s friend didn’t suspect a thing and went with him to Mr. Jiu’s territory.

One of Mr. Jiu’s underlings saw the two of them and immediately blocked their path. ”Who are you?”

”We’re here to buy.”

The underling looked wary. These two were complete strangers he’d never seen before. ”We don’t sell anything here. You must have the wrong place.”

Leng Yuan’s voice was low as he said, ”Boss Xu sent me. I’m here to buy jewelry. Are you sure you don’t have any?”

Boss Xu was one of Old Nine’s clients, an old acquaintance who had referred a few customers to him in the past.

The underlings all knew of him.

Leng Yuan stood beside Lu Yuanbin’s friend. The friend remained silent while Leng Yuan stepped forward to do all the talking. It made it seem as if the ”big boss” couldn’t be bothered to speak to mere flunkies, which actually gave him an impressive air.

The moment the underling heard the name ”Boss Xu” and recalled the message they’d sent out earlier, his eyes lit up.

”Oh, so Boss Xu sent you! Our Mr. Jiu is inside. I’ll take you to him!”

’Not many people know about the relationship between Boss Xu and Mr. Jiu. For this guy to mention him right off the bat, he must be someone Boss Xu knows well.’
