Pokemon: Reborn As Ash, I'll Conquer Every League

Chapter 275: Chapter 275: Silver Conference (6)

Chapter 275: Silver Conference (6)

Although it dodged most of the damage, Articuno did not escape the paralysis effect that came with Zap Cannon.

Articuno could be seen with electric arcs flickering over its body, its right eye half-closed, and its wing beats stuttering from time to time.

”Articuno, use Hurricane.”

Gary hardened his heart, determined to fight to the end.

Articuno whipped up a powerful Hurricane and blew it toward Zapdos. After releasing the move, it flapped its wings and flew into the storm. At first glance, it looked like Articuno had donned armor made of wind.

Facing this desperate attack, Ash chose to fight magic with magic.

”Zapdos, let’s use Hurricane too!”

Zapdos followed suit. In an instant, two storms blowing in different directions collided. Inside the two storms, Zapdos and Articuno constantly attacked each other with their beaks and claws.

In this clash, Ash’s Zapdos undoubtedly had the advantage. There was no other reason; Zapdos’s feathers were flashy enough, and its intimidation was sufficient... Ahem, the main reason was that Zapdos’s level was much higher than Articuno’s.

”Zapdos, grab it and then use Thunder.”

As soon as Ash finished speaking, Zapdos clawed Articuno, then gathered Electric-type energy. With a ’boom’, Articuno fell to the ground, charred all over, like a kite with a broken string.

The referee carefully approached and looked for nearly a minute before raising the flag to announce: ”Articuno is unable to battle!”

”Articuno, you’ve worked hard!” Gary recalled Articuno, then pulled out another Master Ball. ”Heatran, it’s your turn to shine!”

”Heatran, huh? Alright, then I’ll leave it to you, Gengar.”

The one Ash chose to send out was Super Ancient Gengar.

Looking at the over 40-meter-tall Super Ancient Gengar with strange patterns on its body, Gary felt terrible.

Due to the venue, Super Ancient Gengar was forced to float above the stadium, looking down at Heatran on the battlefield.

After a long period of recuperation, Super Ancient Gengar’s strength had recovered to the peak of a high-level Secondary God. Its massive size, combined with the Pressure of a Legendary Pokemon, was daunting.

The reason Ash chose to send out Super Ancient Gengar was, first, because Heatran’s resistances were too ridiculous; and second, because Gary wanted to follow the path of academic research, and as his childhood friend, he had to let him see something new, right?

Gary suppressed his fear and asked Ash: ”Ash, what exactly is this Gengar of yours? Why is it so big?”

”It’s a Super Ancient Pokemon. I caught it in some ruins behind Pallet Town,” Ash explained.

”Super Ancient Pokemon are this big?”

Puzzled as he was, Gary didn’t intend to give up on the match. ”Heatran, use Magma Storm!”

Because Super Ancient Gengar was massive, Heatran’s move could only cover one of its legs, causing extremely limited damage.

”...”

Seeing this result, Gary felt deeply powerless. At that moment, he even had the thought of surrendering.

But thinking that this might be the last League Conference he would participate in, Gary dismissed the idea of surrendering.

Last time at the Indigo Plateau Conference, he had one Pokemon that escaped being defeated by Ash, and now he didn’t want that to happen again.

”Heatran, use Steel Beam!”

”Gengar, use Shadow Ball.”

Heatran gathered all its Steel-type energy on its head, then fired a pale beam. Super Ancient Gengar formed a dark Energy Ball with a diameter of over two meters with one hand.

The Shadow Ball met the Steel Beam, and at the moment of contact, a violent explosion occurred, and a thick cloud of black smoke enveloped the entire battlefield.

When the dust settled, Heatran was seen lying on the ground with its eyes spinning.

”...”

This one-hit KO completely silenced Gary.

Ash hadn’t expected this situation either; he thought Super Ancient Gengar would put on a show for a while longer.

”Heatran is unable to battle.”

As the referee announced the result, Gary only had one Pokemon left.

”My last hope is in your hands, Lugia.”

”I choose you, Deoxys.”

Ash’s sixth Pokemon was intended to save Gary some face. Deoxys leveled up fast, but currently, it was only at the intermediate Elite level, while Gary’s Lugia was already at the beginning Champion level.

”Lugia, use Air Cutter!”

”Deoxys, Defense Forme.”

Before Lugia could send the wind blades, Deoxys’s form changed. Its originally sharp and small head became rounded, and its limbs became plate-like.

Deoxys in its defensive form wasn’t great at attacking, but its defensive stats were maxed out, so it took the hit from Lugia’s Air Cutter with little damage.

”Deoxys, use Zen Headbutt!”

”Lugia, use Aeroblast!”

Deoxys crashed into Lugia’s muzzle as if they had agreed upon it.

Boom!

Referee: ”Deoxys is unable to battle!”

”Hmm...”

Hearing this result, Gary had the illusion of relief. Although he could see that Ash had gone easy on him, at least he wasn’t shut out.

Ash recalled Deoxys and looked at Mega Gardevoir, who was wearing a black dress, beside him. ”Gardevoir, I’ll leave the rest to you.”

”Gardevoir.” (Leave it to me.)

Mega Gardevoir nodded and then walked onto the field.

”Gardevoir, use Moonblast.”

Accompanied by Gardevoir’s soft cry, a phantom of the moon appeared in the sky, and an invisible force pressed Lugia, who was in mid-air, down several meters.

”Lugia, use Extrasensory to counter!”

Lugia unleashed an invisible force to attack Mega Gardevoir.

”Gardevoir, use Shadow Ball.”

Mega Gardevoir teleported to Lugia’s back, formed a Shadow Ball, and pressed it down.

After the Shadow Ball hit, Lugia was in great pain and twisted its body frantically, trying to shake off Mega Gardevoir.

However, Gardevoir seemed to be growing on it; no matter how it shook, it wouldn’t budge.

”Lugia, use Boomburst!”

”Gardevoir, use Thunderbolt!”

Lugia roared at the sky, its voice loud and noisy, while Gardevoir unleashed Thunderbolt to attack.

Although Thunderbolt was not Gardevoir’s STAB move, Electric-type moves were super effective against Lugia. The final result was that both Pokemon were unable to battle simultaneously.
