Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 900: Chapter 900: The Final Stop

Wei Kaiyun and Old Yang didn’t return to the guesthouse, and went directly to the train station to buy tickets; there’s one last stop left, they need to order rubber gloves.

The distance isn’t far, only a day’s travel, so they bought hard seats.

Among the three children, only Feifei doesn’t need a ticket. Remembering the little girl frowning, Wei Kaiyun laughed.

”Once we finish the order, let’s head back. If production starts over there, we can leave the brothers to handle it.”

”Alright, I want to go back too, but we can bring back as many finished products as we can carry. I don’t feel comfortable leaving the two behind.”

Old Yang sighed, indeed, it’s their first outing, and they wouldn’t feel at ease leaving them.

Their train tickets were for tonight, so they hurried back.

However, the hostel said they weren’t there, and the staff told them they went to the building.

”I think we should check the junkyard, we’ll likely find them there.” Wei Kaiyun understood his daughter. This girl loved treasure hunting.

”Alright.”

The two went out, quietly discussing, ”Let’s all go to the Capital, submit things quickly, so the leaders can rest easy.”

”Sure, maybe we can return with Old Han.”

Wei Kaiyun shook his head with a smile; Old Han’s situation wasn’t stable, maybe he’d leave after seeing his son.

They really found them at the junkyard.

Xiang Dong and Chaoyang had also joined the treasure hunt.

Feifei knew there was no vehicle to transport things back this time, so she saved the especially precious finds, feeling jittery about taking two large items that could be risky.

This place was affluent, full of good things; Feifei felt a sense of loss this time.

”Feifei, it’s alright. Buy whatever you like, we’ll carry it for you,” Chaoyang promised, patting his chest with a smile.

Feifei thought they had strength in numbers, so they might be able to carry more stuff.

So, she just gathered whatever she liked together.

When Wei Kaiyun and Old Yang arrived, they saw a large pile of collected items. They wondered how they would transport it all back.

Finally resigning, he squatted down to help his daughter organize things.

They spent a hundred yuan, and everyone had loads to carry.

”No worries, tomorrow we’ll arrive at our destination to order the gloves. Let’s have Changyang and Xiang Dong stay and wait, while we head to the other two chemical plants.”

Wei Kaiyun quickly consoled his daughter. Seeing her worried face, he felt he could give the whole world to her.

They went out to eat, then started packing and organizing the luggage.

Since it was a short trip, they got off the train at six in the morning the next day.

Feifei refused to let Wei Kaiyun carry her, choosing to walk herself because she was already carrying a lot of luggage and didn’t want to burden him more, but seeing his disappointed expression, she felt a toothache.

They weren’t used to breakfast here, but they forced themselves to eat it.

”Brother Chaoyang, is it really delicious?” Shi Jing looked at Chaoyang in surprise as he ate heartily.

”I can’t even taste it; I just eat so I’m not hungry.”

The three children gave him a thumbs up.

Chaoyang felt their admiration, but thought they might be laughing at him.

Xiang Dong laughed on the side. However, he shared Chaoyang’s view that as long as he wasn’t hungry, it was fine. It was still better than eating tree bark in the past, which was bitter and astringent and left one feeling uncomfortable afterward.

As for the three adults, they didn’t show difficulty. ”Feifei, if you don’t like eating this, there are snacks in the bag.”

”Dad, I’m fine.”

After eating, they inquired about the rubber factory. Old Yang and Shang Zhenkun took the children to settle in, while Wei Kaiyun took Chaoyang and Xiang Dong to the rubber factory.

After explaining their situation to the guard, the factory manager came out personally to greet them.

Xiang Dong and the others couldn’t understand the local dialect, but Wei Kaiyun could. He had trained with someone from this area in the past but couldn’t speak it well.

Finally, Wei Kaiyun opted to write, and the two communicated this way.

Chaoyang and Xiang Dong thought to themselves that being illiterate really isn’t helpful. They used to think the world was this big until they came out and realized they were really like the frog in Shi Jing’s parable.

They saw Master Wei smiling, knowing it must have worked out.

The manager hurriedly left. The two, though curious, didn’t ask.

”There are 5,000 pairs of gloves available now.”

The two’s eyes widened in delight; this meant they didn’t need to wait for production, and they could return with Master Wei.

Soon enough, the manager brought in samples.

Wei Kaiyun tested them, finding them elastic and hard to break, which was satisfactory. They finally agreed on a price of ten cents per pair.

Wei Kaiyun took down the address and phone number. If needed, they could write a letter and send money through the post office.

Both parties shook hands happily; this transaction was successfully completed.

The manager, in his quick-paced manner, had the rubber gloves ready within an hour, totaling five bags.

”Master Wei, shall we take the train back?”

Wei Kaiyun considered it. There was too much stuff, so maybe they’d hire a vehicle to the chemical plant. But, upon inquiring about freight costs, they decided it was too expensive, opting for the train instead.

The manager enthusiastically led Wei Kaiyun to the train station, bought tickets for the 1 p.m. train, and they were all sleeper tickets, allowing them to bring things along.

The hostel was near the train station, so Wei Kaiyun left the two to watch the gloves at the station and went to find the children.

The three children were catching up on sleep, but Wei Kaiyun woke them because there were only two hours left before boarding.

The just-carried luggage soon needed to be carried again.

But the children didn’t fuss, knowing they were heading home.

Disliking the local food, they didn’t bother with restaurants.

After meeting with Chaoyang and the others, they bought platform tickets and slowly loaded their items bit by bit inside. Fortunately, they didn’t have to transfer trains midway, else it would have been worrisome.

Old Yang, holding a cigarette, chatted with staff while gesturing, figuring out the sleeper car’s location before sitting aside to wait.

Shang Zhenkun had the three kids drink water while sitting on the luggage, telling them about local historical figures and famous scenic spots.

The children were captivated, and both Chaoyang and Xiang Dong listened intently.

Wei Kaiyun and Old Yang took care of them on the side.

The train finally arrived. Xiang Dong got on quickly, finding their bunks; fortunately, they were two adjoining carriages, which was most convenient.

Shang Zhenkun led the three children directly into the carriage to wait, while the four of them shuttled up and down with the luggage.

Luckily, they had enough people to secure two carriages, otherwise fitting everything would have been concerning with so much stuff.

Jiang Feifei felt quite embarrassed; it was all her impulsiveness that made things so exhausting.
