Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 877: Chapter 877: Moved to Tears

There is already a large pile of branches next to the school. Not only is Guodong carrying them back, but the kids are doing the same.

”Alright, let’s go home. I see our chimney is smoking; Aunt Jiang and the others must have returned.”

This is really not an easy task; all four are sweating.

Back home, Jiang Xinyu had them sit directly in the main hall, where the two large stoves were burning and it was quite warm.

”The water is boiling; you can all take a bath once you cool down.”

Jiang Xinyu also brewed ginger brown sugar water on the stove. This helps ward off cold and prevents illness.

Two bathrooms, the two boys together, Jing Chu alone. Du Fengying went in to bathe after Jing Chu came out.

At this time, Jiang Xinyu had already started cooking. Hot and sour shredded potatoes, fish-flavored shredded pork, cabbage stir-fried with meat slices.

Sausages were also being steamed in the pot, this dinner was purely to accommodate the four who went up the mountain.

When Du Fengying came out of the bathroom, everyone sat around to eat.

”How was it? Did you gain anything?”

Jing Chu was discouraged, ”We just started chopping wood when we went up the mountain, gained nothing.”

”Aunt Jiang, we carried the firewood to the school.”

”Hmm, that’s good; our family isn’t short of firewood.”

The four were really quite tired, especially Guodong and Xiao Qiang, who carried firewood back six times.

”Alright, rest after you eat, but wait for half an hour before sleeping to prevent discomfort later.”

Du Fengying cleaned up the table, not letting the children do it.

Jiang Xinyu packed up the items brought back for Wu Jiucheng’s family on the cart to deliver to them.

She gave them the remaining money; the receipts they provided weren’t enough, but Jiang Xinyu didn’t ask for more.

”Xiao Jiang, we don’t have receipts, can we give you money?” Wen Zhenzong was very embarrassed, clearly taking advantage.

”No need, you’ll have many places to spend money later, keep it.” After saying this, she pushed the cart away.

Now the night temperature has dropped to around minus ten degrees, really quite cold.

Returning home, she took a hot bath before heading inside.

Du Fengying was playing with the two little ones, using a rattle drum to entertain them.

”Sister Du, why don’t you take a rest? It’s been quite a tiring day.”

”Exactly, at this age, even this bit of work makes my back and waist ache.”

Jiang Xinyu laughed, ”How old are you? Just thirty-five, it’s the prime of life.”

”Not much use, feeling old.”

The next day, classes resumed, and the children had no adverse reactions. Though they usually roamed wild, they were quite excited; the brigade was having a communal meal at noon.

Normally, they would be gathering around, but with school now, they couldn’t go.

Wu Jiucheng also saw the children’s excitement, so today’s lessons were simple, focused on review.

By noon, they hadn’t gone for lunch, but Li Yunqiang brought them a big pot of food, along with a pot of sorghum rice.

”Thank you, accountant.”

”We hope everyone understands.”

”Of course, we’re not clueless,” Wen Zhenzong said, knowing they could quietly benefit.

Eight people sat together for lunch, ”Actually, aren’t we lucky?” Zhu Mingbao quietly asked?

The others nodded; even though they didn’t know the treatment for the other twenty-some people, it was definitely not as good as theirs.

It had been a long time since they had meat; even with the big pot stewed together, it was delicious.

”Since we’re under someone’s care, we certainly must repay them wholeheartedly.”

”We must. I thought I wouldn’t live much longer. It’s unexpected to still be at the podium teaching, even if they’re not college students, these kids are more genuine,” Zhu Mingbao was reported by his students. Honestly, he felt disheartened, but after interacting with the children, his dead heart came back to life.

The food was plentiful today; while there was little meat, the vegetables carried the meat flavor.

Jiang Xinyu didn’t come; she was at home watching the children. Jing Chu brought back a bowl of rice and a dish.

The two girls gathered together again. ”Jing Chu, even without much meat, it’s really delicious.”

”I agree.”

Lu Tiezhu brought over the crew making corn-cranking machines to join the meal; they usually ate noodle lumps, so the sorghum rice was quite satisfying.

Everyone felt satisfied; Qu Xiaoli packed the leftovers into a basin. She consulted with a few women who cooked, ”Dividing this food yields little, so let’s send it to the teachers who genuinely teach our children.”

The women’s children attended school, so naturally, there were no objections.

”Should we send it to Teacher Jiang?”

”It’s unnecessary, right?”

”Let’s send it to Teacher Jiang first. If she doesn’t want it, then give it all to the other two teachers; their lives are tougher than ours.”

They discussed openly, directly bringing the basins to Jiang Xinyu’s house.

”Sister, I don’t want it, best to send it to them.”

So, they carried three basins of sorghum rice and two basins of dishes to the teachers’ residence.

The eight were deeply moved by the villagers’ kindness.

”Hope you’re not unhappy with it,” Qu Xiaoli said with a smile.

”Not at all, we’re very touched, thank you all, thank you,” they replied.

All rural women, they wouldn’t say much, just genuinely doing what they believe is right.

Wu Xiaoping and the others emptied and cleaned the basins before returning them to Qu Xiaoli and the others.

This small gesture was a warm current in the hearts of the eight, turning their disheartenment into anticipation for life.

When the third batch of materials arrived, it was already three days later.

There were still many books and paintings, as well as specialties brought by Wei Kaiyun. This time, there were lots of big apples, really huge ones.

After reading Wei Kaiyun’s letter, Jiang Xinyu felt a bit uneasy. To return sooner, he had compressed the trip; the fourth batch should have already shipped by schedule.

Two families were still planning to procure goods upon returning, planning to meet their leader, then settle the rubber gloves; they might return by car.

Jiang Xinyu was a bit worried, fearing the three children might fall ill, given the biting cold weather. Luckily, she had brought them last year’s military coats, though not for Jianbin.

But couldn’t reach them now; they must be on the train.

After unloading, Li Family Brothers came to find Jiang Xinyu.

”Village Chief Li, Old Wei sent a message; they went directly to the South, the remaining materials will be transported back later.”
