Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 860: Chapter 860: Buying Bricks

”Yeah, are you the one who eats the most?” Li Yunqiao teased his younger son with a smile.

”Yes, my second aunt said being able to eat is a blessing.”

Looking at his younger son, who was completely different from when he last returned home, Li Yunqiao felt relieved.

He also showed concern for his daughter and second son, knowing they are both studying now, which also eased his mind.

After eating, Qu Xiaoli packed five pounds of cotton and handed it to Li Yunqiao. ”Big brother, this is cotton for your niece-in-law, all top quality cotton.

But tell her not to make the quilt and mattress, I will do those.”

”Sister-in-law, what’s this?”

”Teacher Jiang’s family grew an acre of cotton, yielding two hundred and seventy pounds of cotton. This isn’t seed cotton; two hundred and seventy pounds was extracted.

I bought twelve pounds from Teacher Jiang, and you can take five pounds back to your niece-in-law. Your family’s cotton-padded clothes have also been lined with new cotton.”

Li Yunqiao opened the cotton and took a look, ”It’s really good stuff.

Sister-in-law, you don’t need to give us this; our family’s cotton-padded clothes have all been lined with new cotton. The child’s quilt and mattress have already been made by his grandmother’s family, so you don’t need to prepare them.

But I’ll still have to trouble you with making the cotton-padded clothes for the three children.”

”Okay, I understand. I’ll start making them tomorrow.”

At this time, Li Yunqiang came over, feeling a bit embarrassed. For so many years, neither the eldest brother nor third brother had ever eaten at his home.

The three brothers, along with the driver, went to the pesticide factory. At this time, Lu Tiezhu and the others, eight people in total, were also having a meal. It was just scallions in the pot with cabbage, and then plain flour made into lumps.

The three brothers felt a bit ashamed seeing them eat just this.

Li Yungui said, ”Master Lu, why don’t I find someone to cook for you? This is really too simple.”

”No need, eating this is just fine. We’re almost done eating.”

”No problem, take your time; there’s no rush.”

After the meal, they started loading the truck, and it went quite quickly. In total, there were one hundred and five units, all taken away by Li Yunqiao, but the money wasn’t paid. He said the money would be sent from the province when he returns.

This relieved a big burden for Li Yunqiao, as the province had been pushing urgently. But they had to produce one unit at a time.

These one hundred units were just to appease them for now, and orders had been given to speed up production.

So the next day, Li Yungui came over, ”Master Lu, they’re really pushing from above; how about getting a few more people?”

”Sure, but there aren’t enough furnaces for that. As you can see, not everyone can do the job.”

Li Yungui also noticed this issue and was both anxious and worried.

”Master Lu, how about building a few more furnaces?”

”Alright, you can send someone to build them, but does anyone know how to build furnaces for this kind of blacksmithing?”

This stumped Li Yungui; they didn’t know how to build such furnaces.

”How about this, Village Chief Li, you prepare the materials, and I’ll lead people to build them. But it’s a pity; these furnaces won’t be used for long. When Xiao Wei and the others return, they will need to mix the pesticide and clear the space.”

”No problem; if necessary, we can mix the pesticide in the small warehouse.”

Lu Tiezhu shook his head; it certainly wouldn’t be possible; otherwise, Xiao Wei wouldn’t have built such a warehouse.

Li Yungui thought about getting bricks and then building a warehouse, but with the daytime temperatures only a few degrees now, it’s unrealistic to build a house.

So, it’s a source of stress, but even so, they still have to build a few furnaces; the main focus now is on producing corn shakers.

”Master Lu, let’s first build the furnaces. I’ll buy green bricks now, and when the ground thaws, we’ll construct a large workshop.”

”Okay, I’ll listen to Village Chief Li.”

Actually, Lu Tiezhu believed that even if the furnaces were built, there wouldn’t be many skilled workers, and it wouldn’t be very useful, but seeing Village Chief Li was genuinely anxious.

Li Yungui directly found Li Shuangjiang and let him drive the tractor. The two went to the brick factory.

But now it’s holiday time there, only the doorman was present.

”Old brother, I want to buy bricks. Can I buy them now?”

”The manager is at home, you should go to the village and find him.”

They should be able to buy them, as there are lots stacked outside, just sitting there.

Li Yungui inquired in the village and quickly found the house of the brick factory director.

”Director Zhou, I am Li Yungui from Li Family Village, here to buy green bricks.”

”You want to buy green bricks now?”

”Yes, getting the materials ready now, and when there’s time next year, we can start building. Besides, buying green bricks now is surely better than trying after the ground thaws.”

”How much do you want?”

”Twenty thousand bricks.”

Zhou Changshun closed his eyes and thought for a moment, ”We do have twenty thousand green bricks, but this amount is too large. By next spring, we won’t have any ready for sale.”

”Director Zhou, please lend a hand; we are really in urgent need.”

”Alright, I’ll give them to you. When do you want to load them?”

”Director Zhou, today we only brought one tractor, it’s just for one load; next time we’ll take two loads together.”

”Alright, wait at your factory gate; I’ll find someone to help load the truck for you.”

The first truck loaded two thousand green bricks, then the two drove the tractor back.

”Director Zhou, they haven’t paid yet.”

”They’ll bring it over shortly.”

Back in the village, Li Yungui quickly called some people to unload the truck.

He went to find Jiang Xinyu, ”Teacher Jiang, can you give me fourteen hundred yuan. I bought twenty thousand green bricks.”

”Village Chief Li, wait a moment; I’ll go get it for you. But tomorrow you’ll need to complete a procedure for me,” Jiang Xinyu said and went inside.

Li Yungui took the water handed by Du Fengying and sipped the hot water once.

Jiang Xinyu came out from the inner room, not only with the money but also with paper and pen.

”Village Chief Li, write a note stating that you took fourteen hundred yuan from me. I’ll find the accountant later, and he also needs to sign.”

”Alright, you can go find Yunqiang yourself; I’ll go with you anyway since this truckload of green bricks hasn’t been paid for yet.”

”Okay, I understand.”

After finishing the water, Li Yungui went to find Xiao Shuang, but today he was on leave at his wife’s mother’s house.

”Second uncle, I’ll drive,” the Red Army volunteered.

”Alright, you drive.”

Li Yunqiang also came over. ”You really bought them?”

”Yes, bought twenty thousand bricks. It’s better to purchase out of season; if it wasn’t winter, we might not have been able to buy them, and certainly not as many.”

”Old Fourth, you’ll need to go visit Teacher Jiang later; I took fourteen hundred yuan from there. You need to handle the procedure.”

”Alright, I’ll go over later. Red Army, can you manage?”

”Fourth uncle, can you believe I can drive better than the others?”

”You’re so confident?”

”Yes, I’m extremely confident. Brother Chaoyang even said I drive better than him.”

”Haha, that’s great. My Red Army is so capable.”
