Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Bai Hongying handed a warm towel to Jiang Xinyu, who picked up the baby and fed him some water with a small spoon.

This little guy sucked mightily, and after three spoonfuls, Bai Hongying dared not feed him more.

If he gets full quickly, it will be troublesome if he won’t nurse.

Jiang Xinyu massaged clockwise; she felt hardened and extremely full.

Let’s give it a try; he must suck it out himself.

Jiang Xinyu took Jiang Shijing, and after quite a struggle, together they finally managed to nurse.

The effort exerted for nursing is aptly described as going all out; indeed, it felt like the baby was having a hard time.

”Xiao Jiang, I’ll go back and cook for you some lamb soup, okay?”

”Alright, Aunt Bai, go ahead and prepare it, but I’m not eating spicy during this time.”

”I know, are you sure you can do it yourself?”

”Yes, go without worry.”

Jiang Xinyu watched her son fall asleep, lay him down, and he became increasingly cute the more she looked.

Remembering there was still a mobile phone capable of taking pictures in space, she pondered a bit, picked up the baby, moved him to another side, turned back to block it, and took several photos of the child.

Then she lay beside her son, ”Son, darling, Jiang Shijing, it’s our first meeting, truly a delight, a joy.”

Jiang Xinyu saw her son still sleeping soundly but she kept talking to herself.

”Jiang Shijing, your nickname will be Xiao Jing, it’s not a girl’s name, you shouldn’t mind it.”

Muttered a few more words. Suddenly her eyes turned red, hadn’t shed tears during childbirth, but now she couldn’t hold back, didn’t want to either.

”Wei Kaiyun, you bastard, how could you?

Wei Kaiyun, where are you?

Wei Kaiyun, our son is born, you weren’t there to blame, so our son took my last name Jiang.

Wei Kaiyun, I miss you. How could you be like this?”

Cried for a few minutes, wiped the tears away, knowing she didn’t have the right to cry, she had to raise her son, her household registration was at the school. Her son’s registration couldn’t be filed at the school. Once she’s out of confinement, she should register the child’s household on the street. Unsure if possible, but she couldn’t let him be a nobody. He must be rightfully in this world.

An hour later, Bai Hongying came in, ”Xiao Jiang, hurry up and drink, time is tight, the taste is average, I also made millet porridge with eggs, hurry and eat while it’s hot.”

Jiang Xinyu drank half the soup, handed it to Bai Hongying, ”Aunt Bai, you haven’t eaten yet, hurry and eat. I can’t eat so much.”

Bai Hongying, knowing Jiang Xinyu was clean, poured it into her lunch box, ate the remaining egg and half lunch box of porridge.

Thus, three days later Jiang Xinyu was discharged, wrapped herself tightly, so was the child; she hugged the baby, Bai Hongying carried all the luggage and took care of her.

Back home felt much relieved. Bai Hongying had already lit the fire when back in the morning, mother and son lay on the bed.

These three days in the hospital barely had a good sleep, afraid of falling asleep and the baby being stolen.

Bai Hongying saw Jiang Xinyu in this state and agreed to go home. The doctor wanted her to stay for a week.

”Aunt Bai, could you heat some water for me, I won’t bathe, just wipe off, can’t stand it, feeling itchy all over, and there’s a rancid smell.”

”Xiao Jiang, it’s not right doing this.”

”It’s alright, I specifically asked the doctor, and it’s fine.”

After seeing the hot water, Jiang Xinyu couldn’t refrain. Seized the opportunity while Bai Hongying went to shop, not only washed her hair but also quickly washed herself all over.

Yet she didn’t blatantly expose her wet hair; she used a hairdryer to dry it.

Now feeling refreshed. Comfort at its best.

Bai Hongying came back, seeing this, had no choice, she’s already washed, what more is there to say, even if scolded, that’s how it is.

Meanwhile, on the mountainside, Wei Kaiyun was dazing off. A few days ago in the morning, suddenly felt a racing heartbeat, initially thinking there was a physical problem, but these days that feeling was completely absent.

Self-mockingly smiled, surviving here already felt satisfactory, being stuck for almost a year, half of which spent healing.

The labor here was overwhelmingly heavy but luckily, having some education, now had a light job as an accountant.

No leverage held against him, they dropped him here, no longer bothered.

No idea what happened to the leader? Sigh, is this considered breaking away?

Lying on the plank bed, thought of Jiang Xinyu, wondering how she’s now? It was absolutely wrong of him to delay her.

That stubborn girl, the past year must have been particularly tough.

Hope she might move on in a few years, for in this lifetime, he failed her. Her future husband might reject her, right?

The more he thought, the more uncomfortable Wei Kaiyun felt, thinking of her belonging to someone else, almost stirred murderous instincts.

Yet he knew he couldn’t ask her to always wait for him.

And didn’t even know how to leave yet. No one he knew could possibly be aware he was here, right?

Cannot be. Must find a way, even through prolonged effort, must try, even when she marries and bears children, he just wants to be able to see her from afar.

Thinking to this point, Wei Kaiyun felt full of fighting spirit, no choice, just for the woman he loved, he must find a way out.

Must consider carefully the approach, where to start. Cannot remain trapped, in the past year, without anyone continuing to watch him, indicated his situation wasn’t utterly dire.

Must strive, leave here soon, compensating her for the rest of his life.

Zhang Baozhen and Zhang Qiuming alternated shifts, came every day, delivering the day’s notes to Jiang Xinyu.

She kept them over for meals, used the time to hurriedly copy the notes, utilizing the evening, time the next day for studying.

She believed she hadn’t lagged much, management wasn’t highly technical, if truly engineering, she might indeed struggle.

”Xiao Jiang, it’s commendable how you earnestly study. These are today’s exam papers, Counselor Zhang asked me to bring them back, do them, and return them to him.” Zhang Baozhen teased the child.

”Okay, wait a moment, the notes can only be picked up tomorrow.”

Jiang Xinyu spent three hours answering seven papers.

”Wow! Truly worthy of being self-admitted, I’m heading back, tomorrow is Saturday, no rush.”

”No problem, you and Sister Shuping should come over for lunch tomorrow.”

”Always eating for free, feeling embarrassed.”
