Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 226: 226 come back

Jiang Xinyu nudged Wei Kaiyun, and only then was she released.

”Hurry inside, your clothes have a smell now.”

”Hehe, wife, don’t dislike me.” Although he said that, he still went inside.

She scooped out the dumplings, also served some dumpling soup. Entering the room, she saw Wei Kaiyun had already changed clothes. She set the kang table, brought in the dumplings, along with a plate of five-spice peanuts, spicy sauce, and vinegar.

”Wife, having you is really wonderful.”

”Weren’t you supposed to come back tomorrow?”

”I was in a hurry to return.”

”Here, have some dumpling soup first so your stomach doesn’t feel uncomfortable.”

”Wife, why don’t you join me for a bite?”

”I can’t eat, you enjoy yourself. This is the spicy sauce I made, it should taste really good with the dumplings.”

Jiang Xinyu went out to wash the pot, washed her hands, and then got on the kang.

She still felt a bit unfamiliar. Jiang Xinyu sat on one side, watching Wei Kaiyun. He was now just wearing long underwear, sitting there eating, and it was more apparent now, he had really lost a lot of weight.

”Wife, you’ve gained weight, and you’re prettier.”

”I was always beautiful, wasn’t I?” Jiang Xinyu rolled her eyes. Compared to the previous life, she really was much more beautiful now.

”Hehe, yes, my wife has always been very beautiful. Wife, when did you arrive?”

”The train on the twentieth, went to find Lu Weiqi on the twenty-first, he told me you’d be back on the twenty-seventh. By the way, they sent a lot of stuff, make sure to pay them back.”

”Okay, I got it.” Forty pickled cabbage dumplings, eaten with the spicy sauce and peanuts, all finished.

”Cough! It still tastes best when my wife cooks at home. Wife, I’ll go to the factory tomorrow, then there’s a two-month leave. Then I’ll have to go to S Province.”

”Hmm, I also have a two-month vacation, but I’ll have to go back early.”

Seeing he finished eating, Jiang Xinyu wanted to get off the kang but was stopped by Wei Kaiyun, ”I’ll do it, you lie down.”

He knew Jiang Xinyu’s habits, so he cleaned the bowl before getting back on the kang.

He directly hugged his wife and started taking off her clothes, leaving just the long underwear, and cuddled her under the quilt.

”Wife, I missed you so much. There are other people there, I really couldn’t call you.”

”Hmm, I was very worried about you.”

”Don’t worry, now that I have you, I’ll be careful.”

”Hurry and sleep, you have dark circles, and bags under your eyes, they say having bags means you’re aging.”

”Hehe, wife, I’m not old. I can’t dare to age.” He’s twelve years older than his wife; she’s so young, thinking about becoming an old man when she’s in her prime feels depressing.

But he really was exhausted, lying in the warm quilt, holding his fragrant soft wife. Mind wandering.

”Behave yourself, go to sleep.”

”Wife, I missed you.”

”Sleep, if you don’t behave, I’ll go sleep by myself.”

Wei Kaiyun had no choice but to kiss her forehead.

In less than five minutes, Jiang Xinyu heard steady breathing, he fell asleep.

He really must be tired, Wei Kaiyun really had it tough. A factory director still needs to go out, didn’t even ask what he went for, but seeing him so thin, he must be quite worried, right?

She felt hot, tired, wanted to escape from Wei Kaiyun’s embrace, but even asleep, he held her tightly.

The next morning, Jiang Xinyu awoke feeling squeezed. Pushed him, and only then was she freed.

”Wife, wife, you’ve grown up, you’re an adult now.”

Jiang Xinyu was momentarily stunned, then suddenly realized what he meant, her face flushed red.

”Get up. Aren’t you going to work? I’ll make breakfast.”

”Wife, wife, I won’t go today.”

”Hurry, stop talking nonsense, I’ll make breakfast now. Will you come back for lunch?” Quickly changing the subject.

”No, I’ll be back in the evening. You don’t have to wait for me to eat.”

”Ok, I know. What do you want to eat? We still have dumplings. Or do you want more dumplings?”

”Sure, dumplings sound good.” Wei Kaiyun knew he had to go back to the factory today, even if he was reluctant, he still let go of his wife and got up.

After breakfast, the two left, and Wei Kaiyun went out.

In the morning, Jiang Xinyu still went to the supply and marketing agency, still bought tofu, eggs, and meat.

For lunch, she made herself spicy tofu with rice, it felt especially appetizing.

Wei Kaiyun got to the office, just sat down, and Secretary Lu came in.

”Director Wei, when did you get back?” He had just finished cleaning and was taking out the trash, came back, and saw the director sitting there.

”Last night. Oh, how much for the New Year’s goods?”

”In total, thirty-eight.”

Wei Kaiyun counted out the money, handed it to him, ”Thank you.”

”It’s what I should do.”

”Notify all groups and above for a meeting.”

Just then, Tian Mingyan came in. ”Director Wei, you’re back.”

”Hmm, something for Vice Factory Director Tian? There’s a meeting soon.”

”No, I just heard in the morning that you came back last night, so I came to check.”

”Thank you for your hard work, Vice Factory Director Tian, these past few months.”

”It’s my job.”

The work bell rang, Wei Kaiyun took a sip of water from his cup, stood up, ”Vice Factory Director Tian, let’s go to the meeting room together.”

”Yes. Director Wei, you must be really tired, how did you lose so much weight?”

Wei Kaiyun didn’t answer her but continued walking ahead.

The meeting lasted the entire morning. In the afternoon, Wei Kaiyun reviewed the inflow and outflow accounts of the past period, as well as the accounts sent over by the finance department.

Near the end of the workday, Tian Mingyan came over. ”Director Wei, tonight I’m treating everyone, all workshop directors and section chiefs.”

The words Wei Kaiyun was about to say stopped.

He nodded and continued reading the reports.

”Oh, Vice Factory Director Tian, from tomorrow I’ll be on leave, for a two-month break.”

”Director Wei, isn’t two months too long for a leave?”

”It’s provisional.”

”Hmm, if there’s something urgent, how can we contact you?”

”Secretary Lu knows.” Finished speaking, he continued looking at the documents.

Tian Mingyan sat on the side, looking at the focused man, feeling he was even more attractive, but thought of the rumors outside about him, still felt uncertain in her heart.

Her man must be the best, being twenty-seven already, it’s hard to find a suitable partner, Wei Kaiyun is the most suitable, still single.

But he doesn’t smile at any woman, nor does he get married, is it really because he can’t?

After work, because there were too many people, they didn’t go out for dinner. They just stayed at the canteen.

Tian Mingyan had already instructed them, so the canteen specially made a separate meal for them, still very sumptuous, cold dishes, hot dishes, meat and vegetarian options.

There was even alcohol, but Wei Kaiyun refused. ”I’m too tired these days, not drinking. I’ll treat everyone to drinks when I’m free.”
