Chapter 40: Chapter 40: What If I Am Not the Young Master of the Seys Family...

Arlo Seys coldly mocked himself, ”Yes... Later, when the Morris Clan managed to hold on, it was our Seys Family’s financial support.”

Nico Haynes paused, ”Eight years ago during the Morris Clan’s crisis, everyone thought the Morris Clan was bound to collapse, but suddenly it came back to life full of vigor. Outsiders speculated that the Morris Family had a strong backing, and they admired Damien Morris’s abilities immensely. Who knew it was the Seys Family helping from behind?”

With the Seys Family’s help, a small Morris Clan could easily turn crisis into safety.

Dawn Sutherland was silent for a moment, then pointed out a problem, ”If Ariel Morris wanted to trick your Seys Family’s funds to save the Morris Clan, she could have taken the opportunity to marry you! Becoming the Young Madam Seys, it would benefit her Morris Family even more, wouldn’t it? You cared so much for her at the time, if she wanted you to help the Morris Clan, you wouldn’t refuse. She didn’t need to use such a trick, right?”

Arlo Seys gave a bitter smile, his voice carrying a trace of desolation, ”All Ariel Morris wanted was my Seys Family’s support, but how much did she truly care about me? How could she possibly sacrifice her entire life to marry someone she never loved? If I weren’t the Seys Family’s young master, would Ariel Morris have approached me in the first place? If I weren’t the Seys Family’s young master, Ariel Morris probably wouldn’t even look at me!”

”If that’s the case, Arlo, why did you really support the Morris Clan back then? You should have destroyed the Morris Family!” Nico Haynes’s face was full of anger.

Arlo Seys gripped the stem of his wine glass tightly, suppressing his inner pain, his tone cool and distant, ”Because I wanted to completely give up! I wanted to sever all ties with Ariel Morris! A sum of money to buy a heart-wrenching lesson, from now on, I will have nothing more to do with her in this lifetime!”

There was another most important reason for the support... and that reason he did not want anyone to know.

He was Arlo Seys, the Crown Prince of the Seys Family, the sole heir of the Seys Family. And a distinguished family like the Seys could not afford any blemishes, and that primary reason was related to the Seys Family’s reputation.

Nico Haynes nodded in agreement, ”Arlo, there are plenty of other fish in the sea, with your qualifications, many excellent ladies from prestigious families are eager to be with you. Let Ariel Morris get lost! She dared to use you back then, who knows, maybe this time she suddenly returned to the country with plans to take advantage of you again! Now everyone knows the Morris Clan is on the brink of bankruptcy, and she conveniently returns at this time, clearly wanting to use your affections to have the Seys Family support the Morris Clan to turn crisis into safety again!”

Nico Haynes deeply resented those who abandoned and hurt his brother.

”Arlo, as long as you say the word, we can deal with the Morris Clan anytime. A small Morris Clan, I could crush it in a month!”

Arlo Seys lowered his eyes, pulling back his outward emotions, his voice carrying a distant, almost unreal feeling, ”Let’s wait a little longer...”

Waiting until he finishes orchestrating a gamble, if the outcome isn’t as he desires, they’ll speak again then.

”Waiting is fine, after all, even if we don’t deal with the Morris Clan, it will collapse sooner or later! It’s just a matter of time. But Ariel Morris treated you that way back then, so I want to deal with the Morris Clan to vent some anger for you. Since you’ve said this, I’ll certainly respect your decision. However, Arlo, you must not fall into the same pit twice, the first time we didn’t recognize Ariel Morris and got fooled, but if you fall into her hands again the second time...”

Arlo Seys tilted his head and drained his glass of wine in one go, without speaking.

Dawn Sutherland signaled to Nico Haynes with his eyes, and Nico cleverly changed the subject, turning to Dawn and asked, ”Are you planning to continue wasting away at Sutherland Clan Enterprises?”

Dawn Sutherland glared at Nico Haynes. He had never seen someone so shameless, changing topics and dragging him into it!
