Chapter 22: Chapter 22 Take Me to the Hospital

President Evans also extended his hand, ”Don’t mention it, Miss Morris.”

Ariel Morris invited President Evans and his secretary to take a seat, courteous and polite, her face constantly adorned with a faint smile.

Vera sat next to Ariel Morris, watching her handle the dinner engagement with composure, feeling a bit surprised inside. She had met both of the Morris family young ladies, but had more contact with the second Miss Morris, who was proud and somewhat willful.

She hadn’t seen the Young Miss Morris often; as President Morris’s secretary, she occasionally visited the Morris family to discuss business matters with the president. Young Miss Morris gave her the impression of being more reserved and unconcerned. Compared to the second Miss Morris, who could act cute and coy, the Young Miss Morris truly had little presence.

Yet after spending a few days with Young Miss Morris, Vera gained a bit of fondness and curiosity towards her.

At least it was more comfortable facing Young Miss Morris than the second Miss Morris.

While Vera was lost in thought, Ariel Morris had already spontaneously drunk three glasses of strong liquor with President Evans.

Ariel Morris’s straightforwardness made President Evans feel more agreeable, and they stopped being reserved and started talking openly. President Evans’s secretary occasionally chimed in.

Although the bottle of liquor was half consumed, they hadn’t yet returned to the formal discussion. It wasn’t that Ariel Morris hadn’t mentioned it; rather, each time she tentatively initiated the topic, President Evans’s secretary skillfully shifted the conversation, while President Evans maintained a diplomatic smile and urged Ariel Morris to continue eating and drinking.

Ariel Morris knew in her heart that the possibility of success in discussing cooperation might be slipping away.

Suddenly, a series of sharp pains came from her stomach, and the hand Ariel Morris placed beneath herself involuntarily pressed against her stomach, but the pain not only didn’t lessen, it grew increasingly severe.

The pain was so intense that Ariel Morris’s lips turned pale, but she tried her best not to show it. From under the table, she gently patted Vera’s hand beside her.

Vera turned to look and saw her pressing on her abdomen, her face looking unwell, and worriedly asked in a low voice, ”Young Miss, what’s wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”

Ariel Morris glanced at President Evans sitting opposite her, seeing him engrossed in conversation with his secretary, not noticing the situation here. She softly said to Vera, ”My stomach hurts. Vera, I’m going to the restroom for a while, you entertain President Evans.”

”Young Miss, is it serious? Should I take you to the hospital? Anyway, I don’t think President Evans has any intentions of cooperating with the Morris Clan.”

”No need, I’ll recover a bit and come back. President Evans hasn’t directly refused, which means he is still somewhat hesitant. If he hesitates, we have a sliver of hope. What if he gets happy from drinking and decides to cooperate with us? Vera, hold on for a while. I’m fine, probably today I didn’t eat much and drank a few glasses of strong liquor which caused the stomach pain.”

After Ariel Morris finished speaking, she stood up, enduring the increasingly intense stomach pain, and apologized to President Evans, ”President Evans, please enjoy your food and drink, I’m heading to the restroom.”

President Evans smiled at her, nodded and agreed.

Once Ariel Morris left the private room, her hand tightly pressed against her stomach.

The sharp stomach pains swept over in rapid succession; she supported herself against the wall, struggling toward the restroom.

With each step, her brows furrowed, her forehead covered with fine beads of sweat, the pain leaving her powerless.

As she looked at the restroom so close at hand, she found herself unable to move even a fraction further, leaning against the wall, slowly sliding down to squat on the ground, her hands gripping her abdomen.

She could no longer hold on...

The pain was so severe that her eyelids weakly drooped, her vision spinning...

Ariel Morris pulled out her phone and dialed the first contact in her directory.

As soon as the call connected, in her weakened state, she managed to say, ”Take me to the hospital... Lushwoods... restroom...” and then lost consciousness.
