Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

In the darkness of a silent room, a tall figure sat motionless in deep meditation, much like a sage in an intense trance. Dust covered his body, marking how long he had been in this state. Before him, in midair, a small black hole swirled with a faint yet powerful devouring force. Anything that came within ten feet of it would be instantly consumed.

Outside the room, a young man in black robes waited quietly.

”Lin Dong, do you think Lin Langtian might have tricked you? What if he just wanted you to break the Devouring Ancestral Symbol’s seal so he could claim it for himself? I mean, it’s been three months already, and he said he’d only need it for one night.” Little Marten’s voice dripped with suspicion as it eyed the door shrouded in strange energy that blocked any attempts to probe inside.

Lin Dong’s brow furrowed as he considered Little Marten’s words. Gazing at the quiet room, he finally spoke. ”Let’s wait a bit longer. If he meant to deceive us, he wouldn’t need to go to this much trouble given his abilities. It’s more likely that he’s facing some kind of challenge.”

Little Marten gave a reluctant nod. ”True enough. I’d say that except for those few Nirvana Realm experts, no one in the Great Yan Dynasty could match him. The techniques he’s using are so mysterious I can’t even read them fully. He clearly has an opportunity as powerful as yours, kid. With someone that strong as your rival, you won’t have an easy time.”

Lin Dong grew serious at this, nodding resolutely. ”I won’t let myself fall too far behind him…”

Just as Lin Dong and Little Marten whispered back and forth, a faint rumble suddenly issued from the black hole that had been silent for three months inside the room. Having absorbed a massive amount of spiritual energy, Lin Langtian’s Mind Palace suddenly stirred. The murky grayness rapidly cleared, the sky separated from the earth, and faint echoes of thunder resonated in the distance. His Mind Palace had evolved into a miniature world.

As the heavens and earth divided, a soft, bell-like sound emanated from deep within his mind. Lin Langtian’s spiritual energy surged, swelling to an unimaginable level. In this budding inner world, a hazy silhouette appeared—a mental projection of Lin Langtian’s spirit. Though faint, the spiritual power it emitted easily surpassed the limits of a high-level Spirit Talisman Master.

He was now a Half-Step Heavenly Talisman Master!

Sensing the vast new power within, Lin Langtian smiled. With a single thought, he felt he could command the world itself—a power close to that of a true Heavenly Talisman Master! Although he hadn’t fully entered the Heavenly Talisman Master realm, even being a Half-Step Heavenly Talisman Master was an incredible feat.

”Let’s rejoin the physical body.” With that thought, Lin Langtian’s spirit body dissipated, transforming into pure spiritual energy that flowed back into his body, seated on the floor. His eyes, shut for the last three months, flew open, releasing a burst of powerful energy that instantly dispelled all dust around him.

”Crack!”

As Lin Langtian shifted, his bones crackled and popped audibly.

”I didn’t expect my spiritual energy to reach the Half-Step Heavenly Talisman Master stage before my combat ability,” he chuckled to himself. He had intended to focus on reaching Half-Step Nirvana first, but thanks to the Devouring Ancestral Symbol, his spiritual energy had surged to new heights. While unexpected, this power made him one of the strongest in the Great Yan Dynasty, with few who could match his strength.

”Devouring Ancestral Symbol, devour!” With a thought, Lin Langtian raised a hand, summoning a small black hole. Instantly, a terrifying devouring force filled the room.

Even the Golden Crow on his shoulder gave a terrified squawk, flapping its wings as it flew up to escape. Lin Langtian smirked, dispersing the black hole with a wave. His casual use of the Devouring Ancestral Symbol, powerful enough to intimidate his own Golden Crow, hinted at just how strong he had become.

Devouring Ancestral Symbol! Half-Step Heavenly Talisman Master!

In just three months, Lin Langtian’s power had reached an unprecedented level. After taking a moment to relish his new strength, he became aware of someone patiently waiting outside the room. No doubt, it was Lin Dong.

Turning to the original Devouring Ancestral Symbol that still floated before him, Lin Langtian rubbed his temples, remembering his promise to return it to Lin Dong after a single night. Yet, the spiritual power absorption had delayed him by three months.

As he prepared to open the door and welcome Lin Dong inside, he sensed an unusual disturbance in his Mirror’s Inner World. Raising an eyebrow, he extended his right hand, pulling out an ancient piece of cloth from his mirror.

It was the mysterious map he had recently acquired from the underground black market. Since he hadn’t cracked its secrets, Lin Langtian had stored it in the Mirror’s Inner World, but now, strange lines were surfacing across the weathered fabric. He traced a line with his finger, following it only to have it lead him off the map without revealing anything useful.

”Is this map incomplete?” Lin Langtian muttered, puzzled. Unfurling it fully, he examined every inch closely. His gaze suddenly landed on a shape in one corner resembling a devouring black hole. His expression shifted as he leaned closer, studying the peculiar mark.

”Could this be… the Devourer’s Legacy?” he murmured in astonishment.
