Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

”So, you want to master this mirror, control this demonic world, and wield the power of the Extradimensional Evil Race?”

Ling Yi stared at Lin Langtian, momentarily taken aback by his audacious plan.

No one in the Great Thousand World had ever managed to fully master the Evil Race’s power. Those few who had attempted to harness it either ended up as puppets of the Evil Race or were turned into outcasts, despised by all.

And here was Lin Langtian, a mere youth from a lower world, dreaming of taming the Evil Race’s power. It was an idea that bordered on the absurd.

”How could I know without trying?” Lin Langtian’s gaze steeled, and he gave a faint smile. ”Elder Ling, you know where I came from. If it weren’t for you, I’d have no chance of becoming one of the Great Thousand World’s chosen ones. Right now, even in Tianxuan Continent, I wouldn’t stand a chance.”

With no background and limited resources, Lin Langtian had often felt resigned to his fate.

In his past life, he remembered the three Sovereign-level powerhouses whose names were carved in the Sky Rankings: Xiao Yan, Lin Dong, and Mu Chen. Xiao Yan hailed from a line of Emperors, Lin Dong was chosen by the Will of the Talisman Ancestor, and Mu Chen was the son of a divine maiden of the Ancient Buddha Clan.

Though their hard work was key to their success, their hidden fortunes and backgrounds were just as crucial.

Even with his bond to Ling Yi, Lin Langtian knew it would take more than that to catch up to figures like Lin Dong and Xiao Yan. The power of the Nine Nether Firebird Clan wasn’t particularly impressive in the Great Thousand World, and while Ling Yi was strong, she was still only an average fighter in that realm.

Still, something about the mysterious Golden Spirit Mirror gave Lin Langtian a glimmer of hope—a hope of standing at the pinnacle of the Great Thousand World.

Xiao Yan had his own path of flames, Lin Dong his path of martial arts, and Lin Langtian would forge his own path—a path of demonic cultivation!

Even if this path was fraught with danger, Lin Langtian was ready to stake everything on it.

The Golden Spirit Mirror could not be destroyed.

Ling Yi watched the determination in his eyes and saw a fierce flame of ambition burning within him. She had seen that same ambition in many others, including her brother, who had once sought to lead the Nine Nether Firebird Clan to greatness.

But while many of the ambitious people she had met were renowned in the Great Thousand World, there was something about this ordinary young man’s desire that felt different.

”Are you sure?” she finally asked, her tone cautious.

”Yes, Elder Ling, I am certain. I will not destroy the Golden Spirit Mirror; I’ll master it, and I’ll wield its power. This is the path I’ve chosen.” Lin Langtian looked directly at her, his tone solemn. ”You and I share a blood pact, Elder Ling. I ask for your support.”

Ling Yi’s eyes flickered. She understood his meaning well—though she was stronger and held a higher status, they were now bound as equals. He wasn’t her subordinate, and he expected her to respect his decision.

After a pause, Ling Yi’s gaze returned to the vast expanse of dark, demonic energy surrounding them. After a moment, she nodded. ”If the day comes when you’re corrupted and turn against the Great Thousand World, then blood pact or not, I’ll destroy you for the sake of all living beings.”

”Don’t worry, Elder Ling. If I ever become a puppet of the Evil Race, I’d rather take my own life than live in disgrace.” Lin Langtian’s tone was firm. He wanted strength, but he would never sacrifice his dignity or humanity for it.

Ling Yi’s principled stance stirred respect in Lin Langtian. It was thanks to people like her that the Great Thousand World had managed to hold off the Evil Race’s invasions time and time again.

After considering his words, Ling Yi turned to him and said, ”Very well, then. Keep the mirror. Just remember the promise you made today.”

Their conversation made it clear to Ling Yi that Lin Langtian had chosen his path, and she had little choice but to accept it. Their bond gave her no power to force his hand.

Her curiosity was piqued. Could this young man truly master the Evil Race’s power? No one in the Great Thousand World had ever done so.

Lin Langtian smiled, clasping his hands in a grateful bow. ”Thank you for your support, Elder Ling.”

Ling Yi waved his thanks away. ”Don’t thank me. This is your choice. May you succeed.” Then, after a brief pause, she added, ”Even if you can master this mirror, you can’t yet absorb the demonic energy within it, can you?”

Lin Langtian paused, then attempted to draw a wisp of demonic energy into his body. But almost immediately, his brow furrowed.

Though the energy didn’t pose any immediate threat, absorbing it was far more difficult—and dangerous—than he expected. The demonic energy seemed utterly incompatible with his own Yuan energy, like two natural enemies, causing a turbulent reaction as they clashed within him. The more demonic energy he took in, the more unstable his Yuan energy became, putting him at risk of self-destruction.

Realizing the danger, Lin Langtian stopped the experiment and scratched his head, giving a sheepish smile. ”You’re right, Elder Ling. This isn’t easy. But I believe I’ll find a way.”

Ling Yi shook her head knowingly. ”Living beings of the Great Thousand World and the Evil Race are mortal enemies, and their energies are as incompatible as fire and water. This is why few have ever mastered the power of the Evil Race.”

She paused, and a thoughtful look crossed her face before she said, ”But… I might know of a solution.”

Lin Langtian’s eyes lit up. ”What is it?”

”The answer doesn’t come from me. Do you remember the Yuan Spirit I devoured from within you?”

”Yes. It was called Mu Shi,” Lin Langtian replied, a thoughtful expression crossing his face as he looked to Ling Yi for an explanation.

Ling Yi’s gaze turned serious as she answered, ”The Hundred Dynasties War, the Demon-Mirror Trial.”

Lin Langtian’s path is beginning to take shape—a path of his own making, the Demon Dao. This path will allow him to continue down the road Lin Langtian in the original story never completed, but he’ll go even further.

Thank you for all the tips and votes of support! Your encouragement is what drives Lin Langtian to clash with Lin Dong, battle against the Demonic Race, drink with Xiao Yan in the Great Thousand World, and even challenge the Sacred Clan itself.
