Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

”The Hundred Dynasties War, the ’Demon Arts Manual’?”

Lin Langtian’s eyes flickered with excitement upon hearing Elder Ling’s words. ”Elder Ling, what do you mean?”

She let out a sigh, her gaze settling on Lin Langtian. ”Ah, even in this lower realm, there are remarkable individuals. Did you know that your world once suffered an invasion by the Extradimensional Evil Race?”

”An invasion by the Evil Race?” Though Lin Langtian already knew this, he adopted a look of astonishment.

”Yes, to be precise, a branch of the Evil Race known as the Demonic Race. Though the Demonic Race is relatively minor among the Evil Race, they nearly succeeded in subjugating this continent,” Ling Yi said gravely.

The Evil Race had ravaged and overrun many worlds in the Great Thousand World. Some of the powerful entities there had felt it was wrong, but since the Evil Race was so powerful and the Great Thousand World’s forces so fragmented, it was impossible to mount a unified resistance. Instead, worlds under attack had to rely on their own native defenders to resist the invasion.

Many of these vulnerable worlds fell, but others, like the Tianxuan Continent, managed to survive, thanks to the efforts of heroic defenders.

”Elder Ling, you mentioned the ’Demon Arts Manual.’ Does it have something to do with the Demonic Race?” Lin Langtian asked, following her lead.

”Yes, it does. In ancient times, when the Demonic Race invaded, many powerful native warriors rose to fight them. Among them was a warrior known as the Demonic Elder. The ’Demon Arts Manual’ is a technique he created,” she explained solemnly. ”If I’m not mistaken, he developed it specifically to allow a human to harness the power of the Demonic Race.”

”What?” Although he had suspected this, hearing it confirmed left Lin Langtian momentarily stunned.

So the ”Demon Arts Manual” really was a technique for mastering the power of the Demonic Race?

”This Demonic Elder was truly remarkable,” Ling Yi continued. ”After he was tainted by demonic energy, he endured its agonizing effects for decades, developing a method to use the Demonic Race’s power against them. His talent and determination are genuinely admirable. Although his mastery of that power was crude, it was an incredible feat nonetheless. If he’d been born in the Great Thousand World, he might have become the first person to fully master the Evil Race’s power.”

Though Ling Yi was far stronger than the Demonic Elder, she couldn’t help but feel admiration. From birth, she’d had a privileged position as a divine beast, while this Demonic Elder came from a lesser realm, with no advantages, yet he had managed to create such a unique technique.

Lin Langtian nodded in agreement. People from lower realms might lack the power of those in the Great Thousand World, but they often had talent to match; they were simply limited by their environments. When warriors from lower realms reached the Great Thousand World, they often rose quickly, like a carp leaping through the dragon gate.

Xiao Yan and Lin Dong were perfect examples of this.

”Elder Ling, are you suggesting that I obtain the Demonic Elder’s legacy and learn the Demon Arts Manual?” Lin Langtian asked.

”Precisely. Though the demonic energy of the Demonic Race isn’t as potent as the true Evil Race’s power, it’s still related. And the Demonic Elder’s legacy is in the ancient battleground of the Hundred Dynasties War, where you’ll soon be competing. If you can learn the Demon Arts Manual there, you might be able to use it to absorb the mirror’s demonic energy, and possibly even master the Evil Race’s power,” Ling Yi said, gazing at Lin Langtian.

She had learned of this legacy from the soul remnant of a figure named Mu Shi, which she had devoured. She had initially dismissed the information, but Lin Langtian’s interest in mastering the Evil Race’s power had jogged her memory, and she now realized how well-suited the Demon Arts Manual would be for him.

”Learning the Demon Arts Manual in the ancient battleground of the Hundred Dynasties War to master the Evil Race’s power…” Lin Langtian mused, falling into deep thought.

In his previous life, following the original course of events, Lin Langtian would have been led by Mu Shi to seek out the Demonic Elder’s legacy and study the ”Demon Arts Manual.” However, he had been arrogant and eager for revenge. The original Lin Langtian barely understood the technique before rushing to confront Lin Dong, only to meet defeat and death on the battleground of the Hundred Dynasties War.

The technique had barely had a chance to shine before being buried with him.

This time, however, Lin Langtian clenched his fists, his gaze resolute. In this lifetime, he would complete his path to greatness.

”Thank you for telling me, Elder Ling.” Having made his decision, Lin Langtian respectfully clasped his hands in gratitude.

”There’s no need to thank me. It’s your path; I only hope you succeed,” Ling Yi sighed, recalling the Evil Race’s terror.

”Elder Ling, there’s no need to worry. If I find it too dangerous, I’ll retreat. Besides, we share a blood pact, so I would never recklessly endanger you,” he assured her with a smile.

”Oh? Now you remember we’re bound to the same fate. I was beginning to think you didn’t care about my opinion…” Ling Yi narrowed her eyes playfully.

”Ah…” Lin Langtian scratched his head sheepishly.

”Fine, I’ll let you off the hook for now. But I’ll need the essence blood of a Kunpeng from this continent. When you’re stronger, fetch it for me,” she said before he could respond.

”The essence blood of a Kunpeng?” Lin Langtian repeated, surprised.

”Yes. I need it to restore my Nine Nether Firebird form. So, young one, you’ll have to grow powerful enough to obtain it for me. Just don’t get slapped to death by a Kunpeng’s wing in the process,” she teased, her tone light.

Despite her playful tone, Lin Langtian’s expression turned serious. Knowing the Kunpeng blood would help restore her form, he answered firmly, ”Don’t worry, Elder Ling. I will bring you the essence blood of a Kunpeng!”
