Chapter 834: Chapter 309 Great Changes in the Imperial City (Two-in-One Chapter)_3

At present, it is still unknown.

But judging by the threefold enhancement from ‘junior level’, Rein estimates that ‘intermediate extraordinary understanding’ is likely to boost by more than sixfold.

“Knock, knock, knock!”

The sudden knock on the door interrupted Rein’s thoughts.

Rein opened the door and saw Olena standing outside.

However, unlike her usual shrewd and capable demeanor, she now seemed anxious and dejected.

This surprised Rein a bit; could it be due to the recent attack incident?

“Lady Olena.”

“Lord Rein, Admiral Edward hopes you can immediately attend an emergency meeting,” Olena forced a smile and said.

“Alright, let’s go right now.” Rein nodded, his face turning serious.

Clearly, the Sword Bearers Branch must have received some rather important or not-so-good news.

While walking, Rein couldn’t help but ask, “Lady Olena, what is the main topic of the meeting…”

“Admiral Edward just received a red crystal transmission,” Olena pondered for a moment and said.

“Red crystal transmission?” Rein appeared surprised, not knowing what such a communication level represented.

“Yes, it’s the highest level of transmission for the branch.”

“It’s also a method to receive transmissions in real time from the Imperial City Tamriel, but it requires consuming a special crystal stone, usually not easily activated.”

“As for the content, apologies, Lord Rein, the red crystal is set in Admiral Edward’s office, so I’m not entirely sure of the details, but… it won’t be good news,” Olena explained.

Rein nodded.

It seems this red crystal transmission is somewhat analogous to the red phone in the office of a provincial official from previous lives.

This made his heart tremble, with an implicit sense of foreboding.

“Meeting attendees include Diamond Star Swordman Captains like you and heads of various departments within the branch…” Olena said while walking with Rein.

Soon, the two arrived at the large conference room located on the top floor of the administration building.

By this time, the elliptical conference table was almost full.

Central was Admiral Edward, flanked by department heads including Yumaz from the task hall and Major General Stanley, Admiral Edward’s secretary.

Everyone’s expressions were solemn, and the atmosphere in the hall was heavy.

Seeing Rein enter, Admiral Edward nodded at him.

Guided by Olena, Rein sat next to a burly man.

“Ladies and gentlemen, almost everyone is here; we are now convening an emergency meeting.” Admiral Edward said after glancing around.

“I just received news from the Imperial City Tamriel… very bad news.” At this point, Admiral Edward paused.

“Our great Emperor, at a critical moment of ascending to demigod status, was ambushed by avatars of several foreign deities. Although the Imperial Guardians did their utmost to fend them off, the Emperor was severely injured.”

“Now, the Dragan Empire has fully entered Level 1 war readiness!”

As Admiral Edward finished speaking, the conference room fell into complete silence for several seconds!

But then, it erupted into a flurry.

“What!”

“Ascending to demigod?”

“Emperor severely injured?”

“This…”

Clearly, the few sentences uttered by Admiral Edward contained an enormous amount of information.

Although everyone present were middle to senior members of the Sword Holder Minter Branch, they understood the implications of the Empire Emperor being severely injured for the entire Dragan Empire!

The recent news was no less impactful than a bolt from the blue!

And Rein was also taken aback!

But he soon calmed down and quickly connected some dots.

‘No wonder Prince Menia unexpectedly abandoned the advantageous situation of severely injuring the Magic-tailed Three-headed Sea Dragon to return immediately to the Imperial City.’

‘Turns out, the Emperor was ascending to demigod status….’

“The attackers were avatars of outer gods?”

Although Rein wasn’t clear on how much stronger an avatar is compared to a projection, it was obviously much stronger.

But with a bit of thought, one could understand that being able to injure the even more powerful Emperor under the defense of immensely strong Imperial Guardians like Prince Menia, the divine incarnation’s strength must be at least epic level, if not higher!

‘Looks like I need to expedite my strength enhancement efforts, even quicker!’

‘I must quickly shift to the epic level profession “King of Thousand Blades”‘

‘Once back, I’ll invest more in the talent “Extraordinary Understanding”‘

‘If the situation further deteriorates, the Empire in turmoil may hardly remain a reliable shelter as a towering tree….’

“In that case, the only reliance will be myself!”

…

“Silence!” Admiral Edward commanded loudly, exuding authority.

Immediately, the noisy conference room gradually quieted down.

“Ladies and gentlemen, a small fortune amidst misfortune, the Empire Emperor was severely injured after ascending to demigod status.”

“Moreover, news from Tamriel states that those divine incarnations all perished in the Imperial Palace. Even for a high-grade presence across, losing an incarnation isn’t an effortless affair.”

“So, the situation isn’t as dire as imagined by everyone.”

“But still….”

“The Emperor needs time to recover, and though these Evil Gods are gradually awakening, they too need time to recover.”

Upon hearing this, many people breathed a sigh of relief.

Yet Rein continued to furrow his brows.

Because he understood very clearly, Admiral Edward’s speech was essentially a strategic optimism.
