Chapter 809: Chapter 303: Phantom Strike (Two-in-One Chapter)_2

“Imperial Calendar year 2324, Sunday of the second week of the Flowers Month… Useless! Not a single one can withstand!”

…

Rein read through the entire diary from start to finish, then closed the book and began to ponder with his eyes closed.

He was able to draw several conclusions.

One was about bloodline transplants. According to the hundreds of experiments personally led by Asimov, for a high success rate in bloodline transplants,

First, the test subjects’ strength must be adequate, and second, their will to survive should be strong. This would significantly increase the chances of success.

Moreover, a large racial difference could lead to easier physical breakdowns. The experimental records indicate that this issue exists, especially in innovative transplant experiments, where the probability is extremely high.

Additionally, there’s the bloodline awakening ceremony.

The ceremonies generally vary, but their purposes remain the same: to enhance the bloodline concentration of future generations, making it more suitable for practicing the family’s corresponding bloodline breathing technique.

Of course, there are cases where some achieve success without the awakening ceremony, by directly cultivating the bloodline breathing technique.

These situations boil down to two reasons.

Either the natural concentration of the bloodline is high enough that no ceremony is required, which is what nobles typically refer to as a talented offspring.

Or the individual has an exceptional aptitude and understanding of the breathing technique, thereby activating the thin bloodline.

Rein belonged to the latter category.

He used the Legendary Fire Dragon Breathing Technique to gradually reveal certain transcendent traits of his Dragon Bloodline.

Rein glanced at the attribute panel on the Dragon Bloodline (Thin), then at the 7 remaining Golden Skill Points.

“At least 1 point must be reserved for comprehending the secret technique of the Shadow Spear Throwing Technique, meaning I have 6 points at my disposal,” Rein mused.

After considering, Rein attempted to allocate points to the Fire Dragon Breathing Technique.

With each allocation of a Golden Skill Point, Rein clearly felt changes occurring subtly within his body, as if magma was flowing inside, gradually strengthening.

After three points were consecutively invested, when the Fire Dragon Breathing Technique reached Level 15, Rein noticed a new description regarding the Dragon Bloodline on the attribute panel:

[Dragon Bloodline (Thin) Effect: Slightly enhanced affinity with Fire Element, slight enhancement to the Giant Strength Talent, slight enhancement to the Steel Body Talent, and reinforcement of Battle Cry Skills.]

(Note: Development of the Dragon Bloodline has reached the current physical limit; further development requires increased bloodline concentration.)

“Huh? Still ‘thin,’ but now there’s an added description about reinforced Battle Cry Skills,” Rein pondered.

Subsequently, through keen perception, Rein felt improvements, including in fire element affinity, compared to before adding points.

Although the gain was minor, the description still used the term ‘slight.’

Nonetheless, what truly caught Rein’s attention was the remark in the note.

“Does it require an increase in bloodline concentration?”

“Currently, the ‘thin’ Dragon Bloodline only enhances existing talents or skills instead of awakening any dragon talents. Is it due to insufficient bloodline concentration?”

“So, how to increase bloodline concentration?”

Rein focused his attention on Asimov’s journal.

“Obtaining a giant dragon’s essence blood is too challenging; next, I might try those Dragon Descendant creatures.”

“However, there’s no rush for this; I might as well advance the Shadow Spear Throwing Technique first.”

…

—————–

Three days later, in the morning.

In the training room within Rein’s residence.

A tall figure wielding a shield was deftly dodging, while Rein stood still, holding a pure steel spear.

Angus, as a Senior Knight, having preliminarily mastered the shield defense secret technique ‘Barrier,’ was not weak.

But against Rein’s Level 8 Shadow Spear Throwing Technique, he struggled considerably.

Having just endured dozens of throws, his left arm was starting to ache faintly, and his beloved shield’s surface was full of dents and indentations.

If not for knowing that his captain could repair the shield, Angus would be heartbroken.

The problem was, besides taking it head-on, his high-speed movement seemed ineffective.

Basically, within a thirty-meter range, he had almost no chance to evade Rein’s spear throws.

“Alright, Angus, shall we take a five-minute break?”

“Hmm?”

Angus had not expected Rein to suggest taking a break.

It’s been several days, and each time he was the one exhausted, first proposing to rest for a while.

Yet, Angus would not refuse a rare break and cheerfully replied, “Alright, Captain.”

In truth, this break was because Rein’s Shadow Spear Throwing Technique had reached the expected target, advancing to Level 9 (1/10000).

The next step was to rely on point allocation.

After all, the experience points required beyond Level 9 were too vast.

Even with the talent ‘Beginner Transcendent Understanding’ and the meticulous guidance from Instructor Yasla, starting a new Extraordinary Battle Technique from scratch to comprehending the secret technique couldn’t be done in just a few days.

Rein estimated that without relying on point allocations, it would take at least several more months.

Of course, this was already far stronger compared to the typical training time of seven or eight years for a certain Extraordinary Battle Technique for most knights.
