Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Gao Yuanyi deeply understood that if he missed this opportunity, he would never have another chance to overthrow the current Demon King with his own strength.

The Demon King was able to rise again thanks to the help of the Snow Women.

But this didn’t mean that his relationship with the Snow Women had always been good.

The Snow Woman Clan and the Demon King originally had a cooperative relationship; the Snow Women provided the former Demon King with the ability to rise again, while the Demon King needed to sire more powerful offspring with many Snow Women.

Especially after obtaining the Devil King’s Power, he needed to invest more in them.

In the end, the Demon King broke his promise. Not only did the Demon King break his promise, but their Clan Leader broke his promise too.

Up till now, the Demon King had only sired one offspring with the former Snow Woman Clan Leader.

One is enough.

The Snow Woman Clan settled for second best, demanding that after their Clan Leader’s lifespan ended, her sole offspring would completely join the Snow Woman Clan and become their new Clan Leader.

But who could have known, after the former Clan Leader of the Snow Women died, her and the Demon King’s offspring did not become the next Clan Leader of the Snow Woman Clan as originally agreed, but rather flaunted their identity as one of the Four Heavenly Kings, placed under the Demon King’s command, and devoted themselves wholeheartedly to the Demon King’s cause.

And the Demon King chose to turn a blind eye to this behavior, repeatedly breaking the agreement between them.

The Snow Women have grown indifferent towards the Demon King.

Considering the Demon King’s reputation, allowing him to ascend the mountain alone to pay respects to his deceased wife is already their final limit.

Therefore, Gao Yuanyi now had this opportunity. He didn’t have to worry about suddenly being caught in a fierce snowstorm halfway through the fight and getting rescued by the Snow Women.

As time ticked away, finally a black dot appeared within Gao Yuanyi’s range of perception.

A member of the Demon Clan wearing unique black armor slowly, step by step, trod through the snowy white landscape.

Even though everything around was a vast expanse of whiteness, he could still distinguish directions in this identical scenery. He had walked this path hundreds or thousands of times before, previously with his wife, now alone.

The sun was shining overhead, yet it brought not a hint of warmth to this icy peak.

An icy wind blew over the current Demon King Guian Emperor’s pitch-black armor, as though the armor had plunged into billions of years of solid ice, seeming as if a mere touch would instantly get frozen completely by the black armor.

”It’s time, Wei, confirm the process once more. The battle is about to begin.”

Gao Yuanyi’s lips curled into a smile; he had waited years for this day. Only by pulling the current Demon King down from the throne would he have the chance to become the next Demon King.

Once he becomes the Demon King, he will receive new tasks.

This kind of story where the weak defeat the strong, this story where one relies on one’s own strengths and wits to conquer the whole world, is his favorite.

Wei also sensed the Demon King’s presence. Her gaze was fixed on the Demon King, who was clad in black armor from head to toe.

As the Demon King drew nearer, for some unknown reason, Wei could feel her internal anxiety intensifying.

Clearly, she hadn’t seen the Demon King use any skills before, hadn’t seen any overwhelming strength from the Demon King, and yet... the current Demon King hadn’t even unleashed any magic power, appearing only like a regular Demon Clan member roaming aimlessly in the snow...

An indescribable sense of pressure and suffocation approached her.

Wei’s hand started trembling at some point.

”Yuan Yi, are we really going to fight the Demon King?

Is it still not too late to reconsider? To pretend we’re just passing by, leave this place casually, escape to some place where two people can live together.

No need to get involved in disputes, no need to be troubled by anything, just the two of us.

Travel as we did in the past, the Demon World is vast, what we’ve seen is merely the tip of the iceberg.

Just by doing this, I’ll be happy for my whole life.”

Unconsciously, Wei spoke her heart.

Suddenly aware of what she was saying, Wei stopped speaking, but inwardly fervently hoped Gao Yuanyi would respond to her and give her an affirmative answer.

However...

”Sorry, what were you saying just now?

The Demon King is about to arrive; I was just observing the Demon King’s every move, calculating how long it would take him to walk into my attack range.

He hasn’t discovered us yet; this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Don’t worry. You’re different from before, you’re no longer a burden. Didn’t you follow me so you could stand on your own?

Now is the time to showcase all your training results.

Don’t worry, even if we fail, I’ve prepared means for us to escape.

Go forth boldly!

Tell yourself, you can do it!”

Encouraged by Gao Yuanyi’s words, Wei raised her hand, steadied her trembling hand, and lowered her head, murmuring:

”Yeah, that’s right.

I’m no longer who I was.

Yuan Yi has his own dreams. Helping him fulfill his dreams is my dream.

Even if he is willing to sacrifice his life for his dreams, it must be understood.

I am his partner.”

Raising her hand, she bit down hard, and scalding blood flowed from the back of Wei’s hand. Wei’s gaze grew steady again, focusing her mind on the various data displayed on the Light Shield.

The Demon King’s steps wouldn’t stop because of the sway in her heart.

One meter, two meters, three meters... one second, two seconds, three seconds...

The Demon King drew ever closer.

”The Demon King is expected to arrive in one minute. Yuan Yi, please issue the command.”

After hearing Wei’s slightly determined voice through the earpiece, Gao Yuanyi’s smile grew slightly:

”This is exactly how it should be. Prepare to fire the [Binding Light Cannon], then attack with full force.”

”Understood!”

Wei replied with a resounding voice; her hands didn’t move across the console, but every button danced with her thoughts, forming a colorful tune.

She quickly opened a small drawer and placed a pure white [Fairy’s Magic Stone] inside, the pitch-black energy bar rapidly filled with light.

”Magic Stone filled.

Filling [Binding Light Cannon] at 89%... 90, 91... 100%.

Filling completed.

The target is expected to enter the strike range in fifteen seconds, please prepare.

We are now officially entering the ten-second countdown.

Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four...

Three...

Two...

One...”

Wei pressed the button, ”Fire.”

Taking another step forward, Demon King Guian Emperor seemed to sense something amiss, a flash of purple light shone beneath his black helmet.

He had just sensed a massive and unusual magic fluctuation, and the next moment a yellow beam appeared out of thin air, targeting the area where he stood.

The yellow beam exploded around the Demon King, he wanted to dodge but found himself trapped by the beams.

Not far from him in a snowy field, a young Ghost Clan member with an azure face wielded a massive mechanical arm, emerged from the snow, and leaped up, shouting loudly:

”Demon King, it’s time to hand over your position to me!”
