Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The Star-eyed boy spoke endlessly, and Lux sat quietly listening.

To keep Lux by his side a little longer, and to relax Lux’s mood, the Star-eyed boy continuously found topics to talk about, from day till night.

But conversations do eventually come to an end, and talking can tire one out.

Lux treated the boy like his own son, listening to him tirelessly until he fell asleep.

Once the Star-eyed boy slept soundly, Hero Lux embarked on his journey to defeat Amon.

The journey didn’t have many rugged paths; the rugged paths had long been smoothed by Amon.

After crossing two great mountains, Hero Lux soon met the fallen Amon.

At that time, Amon held a Long Spear and mercilessly killed a defenseless child, making Lux realize that Amon could no longer be saved.

As many had hoped, Lux drew the Holy Sword and swung again at his former companion.

The battle lasted seven days and nights, and Lux exhausted all the Potions he had, yet could not determine a winner against Amon.

On the eighth day, Lux faced dual exhaustion of mind and body and was about to fall to Amon.

At that moment, a small miracle happened.

Amon’s consciousness returned to the Dark Knight for an instant, causing Amon to show a flaw when thrusting a deadly spear.

Seizing the only opportunity, Lux dealt Amon a fatal blow.

Both fell to the ground, using their weapons to support themselves, facing each other.

The blackness on Amon gradually faded, as he looked at his former companion and revealed a relieved smile, turning into light with the wind.

Dragging his scarred body, Hero Lux reached out, trying to grasp the gradually fading light.

But the light vanished entirely and silently into Lux’s hands.

Lux powerlessly knelt on the ground, covering his face in agony, weeping like a twelve or thirteen-year-old child.

....

....

After Amon was defeated, the world embraced a brief peace.

Lux disappeared from everyone’s sight, finding a place to live in seclusion, muddling through each day as if waiting for something.

Then, the dragon’s gaze once again left him.

The next news of Lux was that he had returned to the Village of Heroes.

Frowning, Yang Yu had Owen pause the image, inquiring about the Village of Heroes.

Regarding the Village of Heroes, Owen didn’t know much, only that it was established by the first Hero.

Yang Yu took the opportunity to inquire about the Hero:

”The Hero is also on my list of questions; do you know what sort of existence the Hero is?”

After pondering for a moment, Owen replied, ”The Hero should be considered a super being born among Humans.

The time when the first Hero appeared coincides with the descent of the first generation Demon King.

The first Hero felt it was some kind of destiny, hence assuming the responsibility to defeat the Demon King and protect this world.

Later, he should have found a way to preserve his Strength and pass it on through generations.

Thus, he passed down his Strength through generations, solely to defeat the Demon King.”

”The thing used to pass on the Strength, is it something like the Racial Essence?” Yang Yu asked.

”That can’t be determined, but it should be something similar. The first Hero’s Strength was truly powerful, so much so that it... was no less than ours, and he was adept at invention, possessing all sorts of strange tools.”

”Strange tools?” Upon hearing this, Yang Yu became spirited, ”What kind of tools?”

Owen shook his head helplessly, indicating he didn’t know.

”The knowledge repository we dragons manage does not record all knowledge from ancient times to now.

Our records have had interruptions and omissions...

The first generation Demon King and the first Hero were both very strong.

When the first generation Demon King appeared, it even caused a huge fluctuation in the world’s Magic network; the whole world seemed to walk into an apocalypse.

Before that, we thought our Surveillance Magic was unbreakable.

It was only after the first generation Demon King descended that we realized how fragile our Surveillance Magic was.

Until after the war ended, we dragons reconstructed and reinforced the surveillance network.

So, unfortunately...

We only have a picture book regarding the story of the first generation Hero.

Borrowing that picture book seems to require very high Victory Points.”

Yang Yu sighed with some disappointment, but before long, he perked up again, quickly finding a new breakthrough, and said:

”From what you said earlier, the Hero and the Demon King were not born as nemeses? Why are you so sure?”

”I’m the type who doesn’t believe in destiny. Besides... besides...”

Just as Owen was about to continue, a jolt of electricity surged through his head, causing him to hold his forehead in agony.

With a grim expression for a while, Owen finally relaxed his brow, smiled bitterly, and said:

”Seems I’ve touched on forbidden matters; this is prohibited to discuss... Anyway, the first generation Hero was very powerful, not only defeating the Demon King but also developing Magic that could evade our detection.

In most cases, we cannot find the Village of Heroes; we only know the Village of Heroes is in Serti.

And in Serti, only a few people know how to get to the Village of Heroes.

Even if we occasionally detect the Village of Heroes, we have no way of knowing what happens there as those entering and leaving the Village of Heroes are strictly controlled.

Unless all the Great Mages in the Village of Heroes die, and the entire Village of Heroes descends, we might understand what they have been doing for these thousands of years.”

”Then there’s no way around it. Let me ask, if a Hero leaves the Village of Heroes, do they have to return to the Village of Heroes and spend the rest of their life there?” Yang Yu asked.

Owen replied affirmatively, ”That’s not certain.

As long as they return the Power of the Brave, former Heroes can still return here and live a life exclusive to Heroes.

However, leaving the Village of Heroes seems to incur a certain cost.

Every Hero who remains outside significantly diminishes in strength, becoming no different from ordinary strong ones.

Becoming like everyone else is not uncommon.”

”Is that so...”

Yang Yu stared at the farewell letter Lux left, plunged into Silence.

Even knowing the dragon’s Surveillance mechanism, losing sight of key characters is excessively unbearable.

The records couldn’t be changed; Yang Yu had to accept it; he certainly couldn’t travel through time to slap the dragon then responsible for monitoring, telling it to keep its eyes glued on Lux and stop randomly shifting the perspective.

But this is just hindsight Zhuge Liang.

Who could have known such an inconspicuous person could change the world back then?

Owen adjusted his monocle again: ”I know you have loads of questions; I have quite a few questions myself.

Even as a dragon, I can’t clearly know every piece of knowledge.

Therefore, during your competition, I’ve been compiling intelligence on the Goblin Emperor here.

The Goblin Emperor era is about to commence.

It was a bloody and sinful era, with the world population declining by half.

I’ve thoroughly investigated this part of history.

Before this history begins, I hope you’ll be mentally prepared.

It’s best to take three deep breaths...”
