The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Once inside, the girl was enveloped in the mist of having just showered. She pulled out a chair to sit down, her already fair skin tinted with a subtle pink from the hot shower. Unaware, she bent her head slightly to look at her phone, exposing a captivating length of her slender nape.

Amadeus Yancey placed the freshly cooked chicken soup on her desk, noticing out of the corner of his eye the two black notebooks on the girl’s desk. Retracting his gaze, he said, ”I made you a bowl of soup. Drink it while it’s hot.”

”Hmm.”

Without lifting her head, the girl responded lazily, her eyes still fixed on the phone reading messages.

D sent a WhatsApp message five hours ago.

Asking if she wanted hot pot.

Nathalie Quinlan pressed her phone with both hands to reply to him.

After replying to Diana’s message, she clicked on her post and faithfully liked the post Khendy Lordon made today.

After finishing this.

The girl then put her phone away, noticing the steaming Tremella soup on the desk.

She hesitated slightly, reached out to lift the bowl, her porcelain-white hand stirring the Tremella soup with the spoon. The fresh sweetness of Tremella wafted to her.

Nathalie Quinlan felt slightly relaxed and lowered her head to taste a spoonful.

Not too sweet.

He must have deliberately put less sugar.

Just as she doesn’t like overly sweet flavors, this Tremella soup was refreshing and tasty, perfectly suited to her palate, so Nathalie leisurely finished the bowl of soup.

She placed the bowl down, realizing that the somewhat amused gaze hadn’t moved away, her brow twitched, finally unable to bear the silence anymore.

”Did you come to see me for something?”

Amadeus observed her finishing the bowl of Tremella soup, leaning casually against the chair, listening as the girl, unable to keep calm, questioned him. He folded his arms, his brows lifting playfully: ”Zed Moore just left.”

”Oh.” Nathalie responded, looking at him, ”And then?”

”I heard Lynn Kingsley met with that weapons businessman this afternoon.” Amadeus dropped another bombshell, ”Their meeting place was at the club you often go to, Ocean Pavilion.”

Nathalie didn’t even flicker a brow, exhaustedly yawning, standing up to grab her single shoulder bag: ”Got it.”

Amadeus’s gaze followed her, but he remained stationary, a faint smile playing on his lips, his voice low and husky: ”Outsiders are going mad trying to track this weapons merchant down. Doesn’t Nathalie the Goddess seem even the slightest bit curious about him?”

Nathalie unzipped the single shoulder bag, fished out a bottle of gum, and popped a small white pill into her mouth.

Then she tossed the gum bottle back into the bag, slowly placing the bag back down, returning with the same unaffected expression: ”I’m not looking to buy weapons in bulk. It’s normal not to be curious, right?”

Amadeus watched her return, only then lifting the corner of his eye, deep amusement blooming within: ”But I happened to see someone named D messaging you on WhatsApp today.”

Nathalie looked at him abruptly.

Amadeus leaned elegantly against the spot, as if already aware, his cool tone perfectly composed: ”Could that D person on your WhatsApp be named David, from Terrafina?”

”...” Nathalie’s deep dark eyes scrutinized him thoughtfully, really unable to fathom how he managed to associate a mere sighting of a note labeled D with the weapons businessman who recently arrived in Inderia.

...This must be a thought process normal people don’t possess!
