The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Nathalie Quinlan rubbed her forehead, exasperated by him, and emphasized, ”I’ve known him for many years as a friend. If you want to be precise, it’s probably... a bond of life and death?”

Amadeus Yancey heard her mention ’bond of life and death,’ his eyelids twitched again, and he simply sat back, exhaling a breath of turbid air, and said with some helplessness, ”Forget it, I shouldn’t have asked. Asking just pisses me off.”

Nathalie gave him a sidelong glance, then simply lowered her head and started playing with her phone.

Amadeus turned the car around and was driving back on the road, the scenery whizzed past on both sides, and he casually mentioned, ”A dangerous individual has recently arrived in Inderia.”

D sent her a message again.

Nathalie was reading the message from D, so she responded with a distracted ”Hmm” without looking up.

Thinking she was interested, Amadeus added a few more details, ”It’s a weapons dealer active in Terrafina, rumored to have a large stockpile of weapons, including modern high-tech items like the LW30 Laser Weapon.”

D was asking if she received the package.

Nathalie had just finished typing a message back when she looked up at his words, her cold, bright eyes looked at him without much surprise at such a person, and she responded indifferently, ”Oh.”

Amadeus heard her absent-minded ”Oh” and, for some reason, the irritability between his brows dissipated, and a hint of a smile appeared in his eyes. As he continued driving, he went on, ”Rumor has it this weapons dealer has a very powerful new weapon. The Kingsleys Family and Regina Isadora have already received the message, and others in Inderia who’ve heard the news are eager to win over this mysterious weapon dealer.”

Nathalie listened intently, and just then, her phone lit up with another new message, which she looked down to check.

Amadeus also saw a glimpse of it.

It seemed a person named D was contacting her.

D?

He frowned slightly, vaguely feeling the name was familiar, but couldn’t immediately recall who it was.

Nathalie, her pale hands slowly opening WhatsApp, found it was another new message from D, and this time it wasn’t in the usual business-like tone.

[Hey boss, heard you got a guy in your place?]

Upon seeing those words, Nathalie raised an eyebrow, rudely muted the person, and put her phone away. Only then did she nonchalantly respond to Amadeus, ”Many want to win him over?”

Amadeus quickly pulled away from the thought of the person noted as D and met the girl’s line of sight, smiling slightly with a hint of playfulness in his teasing tone, ”Who wouldn’t want to get to know a weapons supplier? Especially one with plenty of new large-scale weapons not available in the market. Opportunities like that would tempt anyone.”

”Hmm, is that so.” Nathalie seemed unbothered, lowering her eyelashes as if uninterested, then opened a game on her phone and started a match...

Meanwhile, in a particular no man’s land of Inderia.

A stubbled man swaggered into the most expensive suite, and once inside, the hotel was strictly under control.

He himself stayed in the most luxurious suite on the top floor, first taking a shower and shaving clean in front of the mirror, revealing a rugged face. Satisfied, he emerged from the bathroom, walked over to the table, tossed aside a book that was weighing down his instant noodles, releasing a steaming aroma, and casually checked his phone.
