The Unveiling of Secret Queen

The next day, Nathalie Quinlan went to the hospital to visit Nicholas Fuller.

She had just stepped into the ward when she heard a welcoming voice: ”This must be Nathalie, right?”

Nathalie looked up to see a seventy-something old lady with neatly combed silver hair in a bun, secured with a jade hairpin.

She was wearing a Tang costume embroidered with auspicious clouds; the buttoned top looked especially poised, and the old lady tastefully wore a string of pearl necklaces around her neck to accentuate her elegance.

The three-layer pearl necklace consisted of nearly uniform-sized, round and bright deep sea pearls, clearly of remarkable value.

While she was observing the old lady, the old lady was also observing her.

She saw Nathalie dressed ordinarily, seemingly having no distinguishing features apart from a pretty face, wearing a hoodie without any recognizable brand. Her lips carried a subtle smile, and she gestured to Nathalie to come over: ”Such a pretty girl. Nathalie, come over, let me have a good look at you.”

Nathalie walked over casually, raised an eyebrow, and looked at Nicholas Fuller on the bed, seemingly asking who this woman was.

Nicholas Fuller felt a headache, raised himself to sit against the pillow, and introduced them with a smile: ”Nathalie, this is Mrs. Lordon.”

He seemed worried Nathalie wouldn’t know who Mrs. Lordon was, so he added: ”Mrs. Lordon is Khendy Lordon’s grandmother.”

Nathalie showed a look of realization and, on behalf of Khendy Lordon, greeted the old lady politely: ”Hello, I’m Nathalie Quinlan.”

Mrs. Lordon’s expression remained unchanged, but she pulled Nathalie’s hand over for a closer inspect, smiling kindly as she said: ”I often hear Khendy mention you, so pretty, no wonder that rascal likes you.”

Before she finished speaking, a light knocking on the door sounded at the entrance of the ward.

Nicholas Fuller, whose brows had furrowed because of Mrs. Lordon’s words, relaxed upon seeing the arriving person and greeted them warmly: ”Amadeus, you’re here too.”

”Nathalie bought you some fruits, so I had a bit of delay bringing them in.” He placed numerous bags of fruits along with nutritional products on Nicholas Fuller’s bedside cabinet.

He then glanced at Mrs. Lordon’s side, and his gaze dropped to the girl’s hand the old lady held, smiling with an ambiguous meaning: ”Looks like I came at a bad time...”

”Perfect timing, perfect timing, how is it a bad time?” Nicholas Fuller chuckled, then turned in seeming embarrassment to address Mrs. Lordon warmly: ”Let me introduce you; this is Orson Saban’s student Amadeus. He’s also from Beijing and is Nathalie’s boyfriend.”

Mrs. Lordon’s face turned slightly displeased as she began to assess the man in front of her.

The man had an elegant stature, clean and graceful in a white shirt under his trench coat. In terms of appearance and facial features, he was no less appealing than Khendy Lordon and even matched Khendy’s demeanor...

Mrs. Lordon couldn’t quite discern his background at the moment.

While she was pondering this, Amadeus Yancey promptly broke the ice by greeting her calmly: ”Mrs. Lordon.”

Mrs. Lordon snapped out of her thoughts, instinctively released Nathalie’s hand, and replied somewhat awkwardly: ”I said, how could someone as beautiful as Nathalie not have a boyfriend? Turns out the boyfriend is quite nice too.”

Nathalie ignored her and went out to find the doctor to ask about Nicholas Fuller’s condition thoroughly. From the doctor, she learned Nicholas Fuller was recovering well.

She reviewed Nicholas Fuller’s recent examination reports, and all data was tending towards stability, which finally set her mind at ease.
