The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1119: Chapter 1119: Some People Stand There Like a Beam of Light

”What if... what if I get too nervous and mess up the dance steps?”

Nathalie Quinlan had already adjusted the equipment. At the sound of Tiffany Olsen’s voice, she looked up, not quite accustomed to the magnesium lights on the stage. They were too dazzling. Pressing the brim of her hat down a bit, she repeated Tiffany’s words with a relaxed tone, ”If you mess up, you mess up. It’s not like it’ll stop you from getting your graduation certificate~”

Tiffany Olsen: ”...”

Waaaah! Why does she feel even more like crying now!

After joking around, Nathalie saw that the girl was genuinely terrified. Her face had gone pale from fright, so Nathalie softly comforted her, ”Don’t be scared. I’m here with you.”

Then, with her casually fiery yet nonchalant tone, she added, ”Even if they want to criticize, they’ll only criticize me. Relax and dance—I’m right behind you.”

Tiffany Olsen looked at her without blinking, feeling so touched she was on the verge of tears.

*

There wasn’t much time to prepare on stage, leaving Tiffany no time to fully ease her nerves before the stage teacher behind the curtains began urging them to start incessantly.

Tiffany took a deep breath and turned her head slightly, giving Nathalie a subtle nod to indicate she was ready.

Meanwhile,

The girl behind the electronic piano raised her hand, and a seamless stream of electronic sound poured out.

Unlike the piano, which strongly emphasizes its own timbre, the electronic piano offers a diverse range of tones—multiple strings, a variety of wind instruments, and numerous percussion sounds.

These varied tones, when wielded by a maestro, can produce an effect no less noble than that of the piano.

Nathalie Quinlan was clearly one of the best.

Under the stage lights, she seemed like a bystander casually strolling through a courtyard. She didn’t appear as flashy as Caryn Zachmann. But once the music began,

Caryn Zachmann’s so-called technical flair was instantly reduced to garbage.

Major chords, minor chords, diminished seventh chords.

A seamless burst of advanced chords matched smoothly with Tiffany Olsen’s dance movements, flowing effortlessly.

Then came rare sequences like dominant seventh chords and suspended chords.

In the Great Hall of Tsinghua University, the entire audience’s attention was completely seized by the penetrating notes of the electronic piano glowing on stage.

The girl’s right hand fingers danced over the keys while her left hand fingers crossed downward, intertwining her index, middle, and ring fingers in rapid succession. For the F major ascending scale, she employed the 4-3 fingering technique, leaving the Music Department teachers of Tsinghua University in the audience with their mouths agape and faces full of astonishment.

”This... this is impossible...”

Nathalie’s technique was utterly extraordinary!

It was beyond what humans should be capable of achieving.

Earlier, Caryn Zachmann had also employed a range of professional techniques while playing Nirvana, but compared to Nathalie’s mastery, it was like the difference between a kindergarten student and a university graduate!

Nathalie’s command over the electronic piano was at a professional level!

No, it was above professional level—it should be considered hyper-professional!

Amateurs could only judge the quality of music by its emotional intensity, but professionals couldn’t help but notice the techniques employed by the performer.

This time, Caryn Zachmann had lost.

The electronic piano had triumphed over the piano.

Indeed, Nirvana was far more exhilarating when performed electronically.

That kind of soul-piercing, throat-gripping, heart-stopping breathless impact.

Caryn Zachmann’s music completely failed to deliver that!

Moreover, during Caryn’s time on stage, the group dance revolved around her as the focal point, with everyone dancing around her.

Nathalie Quinlan was different.

The audience below stared at the girl who had retreated to the back, silently relinquishing the stage entirely to Tiffany Olsen. Their expressions were complex, leaving them unable to articulate their emotions.

There are some who stand there and seem like a beam of light.

She says nothing, yet you can’t ignore her.
