The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1113: Chapter 1113: Draw results are out, just one after the other

”Ezra Hoffman went to draw lots. What if we get assigned to perform early, and she’s too slow to catch up?”

Velnisa Irvin didn’t bother to listen to her, her expression cold as she waved her hand and continued, ”We’re already performing the same piece as someone else, and if we’re late, won’t that just make things worse?”

The students from the Chinese Medicine department kept quiet.

Tiffany Olsen wanted to help Nathalie Quinlan explain, but faced with a situation like this, she didn’t want to start another argument with her teammates. Otherwise, they’d just make a laughingstock of themselves.

She held back, but deep down, she couldn’t help feeling that Nathalie Quinlan was being unfairly blamed.

To be honest, the reason they were rehearsing this performance was because no one else from their department wanted to step up. The group volunteered to bring honor to their department.

No one wanted this kind of trouble to happen now.

Back then, she was the one who chose the piece, inadvertently picking the same one as the Clinical Medicine department. If Velnisa Irvin and the others wanted to blame her, she could accept that.

After all, it was her choice.

Even if it was an accidental mistake, it indeed brought negative consequences to the department.

But Nathalie Quinlan wasn’t in the wrong. How could Velnisa Irvin vent her frustrations on Nathalie and direct her anger at her?

Not wanting to speak anymore, she pressed her lips together and sat on the stool by the makeup station.

Velnisa Irvin realized she might have gone too far, but seeing Tiffany Olsen avoid acknowledging her by turning away and sitting with her back to her, Velnisa couldn’t bring herself to apologize. She felt aggrieved and simply hardened her expression, exuding an even colder aura.

At this moment, the backstage door swung open.

Nathalie Quinlan entered from outside, dressed casually as usual. She had a fairly large bag slung over her shoulder, but her presence was even more commanding than the bag she carried.

As soon as she stepped in, the backstage lounge seemed to recharge with energy. Everyone appeared to find their anchor, their expressions subtly shifting.

”Nathalie.”

”Nathalie.”

Several people called her name.

Tiffany Olsen stood up, visibly moved as she looked at her.

Hmm? What’s going on?

Nathalie raised an eyebrow, found a spot to set down the electric keyboard she’d brought, grabbed a bottle of mineral water provided backstage, twisted it open, and leaned casually against the wall. The expression on her face under her hat brim wasn’t particularly serious—she was half-squinting, almost lazily asking them, ”Why is everybody staring at me? What happened?”

Seeing her casual, unbothered demeanor amidst their current predicament, Velnisa Irvin felt even more irritated and chose not to respond.

She stayed silent, but Tiffany Olsen recounted the situation to Nathalie Quinlan, her eyes reddening slightly. She didn’t want Nathalie to see her vulnerable side, so she turned her face away and raised her hand to cover her eyes.

”...That’s the situation.”

Faced with this, her heart felt most guilt-ridden toward Nathalie Quinlan. After all, people like Velnisa Irvin wouldn’t be going on stage with her.

Only Nathalie would have to face the embarrassment together with her.

Moreover, because of her song choice, Nathalie would have to perform the exact same piece right after Caryn Zachmann’s act!

”Nathalie, I’m sorry.”

Just after she finished speaking, the two people who went with Ezra Hoffman to draw lots returned.

Velnisa Irvin straightened up upon seeing them and immediately asked, ”What’s the result of the draw?”

If their performance was scheduled later, there would still be time to make adjustments.

”Not good.” Ezra Hoffman shook his head, his expression heavy. He looked solemnly at the group and said, ”We’re number six. The Clinical Medicine department is right before us at number five.”

Caryn Zachmann, the ”official contender,” would perform her piece, and their group would have to follow immediately. Wasn’t this asking for trouble?

They really had the worst luck.

Tiffany Olsen couldn’t bear it anymore. Gritting her teeth, she said, ”How about I talk to the teacher in charge and say you’re not going to perform. Let them use a CD instead. Anyway, we registered this as a solo dance, so it’s not mandatory for live accompaniment.”
